Red line? Why limit your target selection or hamper your team with such tactics?
You can aim while cloaked 200 M away in the middle of the map, shoot and scoot to a safe location and your enemies will not be the wiser.

Simple lore worthy answer....
"Players will not be able to fire from the redline as it is not a CONCORD authorised combat zone, weapon restrictions will be in effect."
Extend teams redlines and reduced enemy redlines and they overlap too much to be effective sniper positions forcing smart snipers to be on the map cloaking up. Though I doubt cloaks will mean much to snipers who will fire and then immediately break cloak, if Dust 514 cloak works the same way as EVE stealth systems.
It will be an infiltration and ambush tool but require recharging and careful positioning so as not to expose a scout....since light frames are so weak HP wise being not seen is the best buffer you could have.
To a Texan like you, a hero is some type of weird sandwich, not some nut who takes on three Gunlogi.

Why bother, the cloak is equipment so you'd have to have it out to have it active, cloaking when someone comes for you seems like a better use of resources then activating the cloak, deactivating, then reactivating after the cooldown finishes.

Don't forget guys, you have to be able to fit all this on your suit in order to use it, chances are the cloak will have high fitting reqs, which will make the Scout skills more appealing when using a cloak. |

There is currently no solid evidence to support this, only a slightly misleading role description on the Cal Scout, but it's still speculated that we can fire while cloaked, which makes sense for the Min Scout, it would just get annoying to have to decloak every time you're about to backstab a target. |

The cal scout racial also supports this as well, along with its description, thus shooting while cloaked is what they currently have on the test server.

Again, misleading, the Flaylock's description says it has a guidance system to track targets, last I checked, it still uses dumbfire. We currently have know idea of how cloaking will exactly work, we still know about as much as we knew last month when Remnant was interviewed, and even if we went on the "Assumption-Train" everyone seems so tempted to ride all of this is still very much subject to change and to make it worse, we have no clue when we'll even see any of this.
I understand that we're all excited for the new things coming out in the near future, but I really think we should all calm down and think about our criticism of things that don't exists yet, not saying we shouldn't criticizes, just saying we should be more reserved and constructive then how we currently are. |

Sounds kinda like the Halo active camouflage system - you can fire while cloaked, but it disrupts the cloak and you become visible to both eyes and scanners, sounds like the Caldari scout just slightly reduces this effect.
It is also worth noting that going by the Amarr description, the cloak sounds kinda like a tanks hardener, only works for a short time and has a long cool down. |

You can ignore the description, but I think its a little harder to ignore the cal scouts test server racial because there is a shooting cost when cloaked and that is inferred from the fact that the cal scouts racial reduces that.
"all is subject to change" but at the moment this is how it is sitting in the test server.

Be afraid. The scout will return
1. Them proto scanners will pick them up for sure if they are NOT wearing Gallente Scout Gk.0 with all four complex profile damps. Considering snipers rely heavily on having lots of high-slots, the Gallente scout won't be something redline snipers would even look at.
2. If they are in FW, teamkillers will deal with them.

You bring up the main point people miss, a scanned scout is a dead scout, cloak or not, especially with the dps and tank increases of the other classes, and since the gal scout has the dampening bonus that means you can only reduce the scouts innate profile to low without breaking the gal scout, thus most of the scouts are going to be easy to scan down and kill.

Exactly. Most player will be running advanced and maybe the normal proto scanner which can be avoided by an advanced enough scout, but we all know about the power of that infamous Duvolle Focused Active Scanner with a scan precision of 15 dB.

Well those just a descriptions, nothing more. By gallente scout description you should by literally almost invisible & all seeing eye without mentioning of use cloaks or scan range, precision modules.
So maaaybe: Amarr scout - bonus to reactivation time of cloak Caldari scout - bonus to decloaking time (after switching off, switch to weapon) Gallente scout - bonus to invisibility (less distortion, shimmer while moving, running, taking fire) Minmatar scout - sucks at cloaks lol

Unless cloaks cost too much fitting to also fit a Thales an damage mods and dampeners. Just saying, we don't really know. |

Or your cloaks runs on "ammo" and the bonus is reduction to the cost to activate (fire the cloak) enabling you to use it more times than other suits without having to use a hive or supply...
Going by EVE standards, ships are very limited in what they can do while cloaked, so I'd assume DUST will be fairly the same (but still good for sneaking up and then decloak and cut you)
