As a Logi, I'm tired of having to stand right on top of wherever gravity decided my fallen teammate should come to rest. Rag-doll physics are already in effect for fallen teammates, so why can't I fireman carry scouts and drag heavies 10 feet to cover? This will vastly increase the chances of an ally returning to battle, while still giving the enemy a chance to stop me. In addition, the dragging it's self would take time, so it's almost like the balance is built in to the concept. This is the most realistic solution I can think of, short of nanite injector dart gun, which, admittidley, would be a lot more fun. ;) |

I like the idea of dragging but only at the cost of me not being able to fire.
However, I have to say I would not be disappointed to not get it. I love the new ragdoll effects as they are actually helping me at my job. More often than not, they get killed and fly back into cover for me to save them ;) Or even when they die at the top of stairs. I love it. Their bodies float to me at the bottom of the stair way like a conveyor belt of needle stabbing.
Also, dying onto of high places. more often than not, I've had a dead body roll off the edge and down to me. I do enough rezzing in a game that personally don't see dragging that critical.

dragging while firing would be cool, you blind fire while glancing up, very inaccurate.

1) When dragging/carrying, if you press the fire button, you raise your weapon and start firing. However, this is VERY inaccurate (You only have one hand on the gun), and you halve your dragging speed (You only have one hand on the body). OR, you can switch to your sidearm, which is pretty much the same, but you have better accuracy in exchange for less damage (Potentially increasing your DPS).
2) Dragging, as a consequence, should speed up the time before the clone dies. If you were to shoot your friend, he'll die faster when you're dragging him than he will if you leave him still and cover the flow of blood. Don't increase the speed by too much. Maybe for every 1 second, it drops 1.5 seconds. Or for every 1 second, it drops 2 seconds. This will decrease the time someone spends dragging your body around without actually helping you because he's a d*ck, and bring a bit of risk/reward into the mechanic.
3) Speed is altered depending on what your melee damage count is. This will give more use to the statistic, and it makes sense (The melee damage module increases arm strength in general, not just melee strength). Therefore, a Commando will be incredibly amazing at dragging and lifting, and a Scout will be less great at it.
4) If your melee is over 150, you carry instead of drag. Doing this increases your speed, but decrease weapon accuracy again, making the weapon almost useless at any range longer than 10m (With a cap, of course. An HMG can only get so inaccurate)

I don't think we'll get a tractor beam/gravity gun so I would be happy with dragging. I'm often in my cheap logi suit while in a tank. and tanks make great cover for sticking someone. would be great if I could hop out and drag them behind my tank and do naughty. I mean stab them I mean revive and heal them.

How about a temporary shield skill that protects the merc being picked up.There could be variants that fit in upper and lower slots, different strengths, time durations etc.. |

I think dragging would be much more difficult to put in then it is made out here. Would just tax a system really hard.
Eventually we'll get the shield bubble so that should allow you to create a safe spot to revive. They had vids at fanfest of it but it still hasn't been put in...someday though. |

this sounds cool, lets the downed soldier use only his sidearm but within say a 90 degree angle, and then if revival is not possible he can pull the pin on a grenade to try and kill anyone around? ^ only available when a teammate has tried to pull you to cover |

Yea, I'm not really for this idea. What is to stop people from abusing it? For example dragging someone out of bounds? If they didn't like that team mate?

And I believe you should automatically pull out your sidearm, not fire your main weapon while dragging someone.
Really like this idea.

Then they don't shoot, unless our guns are made of alloys or ceramics it just wouldn't happen albeit wouldn't even be worth shooting due to accuracy.
The guns we have here are clearly heavy and with the added technology couldn't only mean more weight, if I'm wrong and they are made of lightweight materials then I'd like to hear.

I'm actually all for not shooting while dragging. Or, if the hand to hand combat skill came into play. lvl 1, you need both arms to drag. lvl 3, can use one hand to drag but very inaccurate shooting. lvl 5, can use one hand to drag and better accuracy but still not as good as normal use.

I know its a sci fi but theres an element of realism with our movement in dust so it wouldn't be right to shoot your light weapon while dragging.
That's also another reason raw input would suck, the bit of realism we have with movement would be gone, split seconds pirouettes much?
Inb4 we can't jump over a pebble though lol.

I think most people *hopefully* know this and its only the people not paying attention or even those that didn't want to be rezzed and are looking at a different screen that don't move immediately. After clearing the room and stabbing them with my needle, I actively melee people who don't move in hopes they'll pay attention and do something.
Edit: the "hopefully knowing" might just be my wishful thinking
