Now here is the funny thing, you can actually get away with using the AS.
Since it's spammed so much, nobody notices or cares about the YOU HAVE BEEN SCANNED if it's been happening all round.
Now I can abuse the wallhack in my scout suit.
It does need a nerf though.

Honestly, what's the point of dampeners if the "some margin of error" gives away your stealth? Do away with the error message and you'll see most of the complaints dry up, as scouts can take their rightful place as assassins and ninja defenders.
Life is killing me.

Yah, that message needs to go. Also they should probably make it to where when used it gives away your position to maybe half the range your scanning at.

Remember before scanners? If anyone saw anyone they lit up on the map. Isn't squad only intel much nicer?
Also all a new bro has to do is join a squad, chances are someone in it is scanning for the enemy team. Or failing that fight fire with fire and use one themselves.

If that was actually the case I believe we wouldn't be seeing the item being used quite as often.
That said, a complex profile dampener does work wonders against scanners. It's just not something you can realistically spec into until you have about half a year worth of skillpoints under your belt, so I'm mostly concerned for our newer players.
I can't remember the exact game it was, but in another multiplayer FPS where they have "scanners" the guy who is scanning shows up on a bright dot on the radar - this is a good inherent counter as it makes him careful how often he scans due to him lighting up like a xmas tree. If you put this in I guarantee you people will be less likely to scan if they are alone and will do it even less if they are in a squad as you now know where they are coming from.

I personally think the scanner is fine right now. I have thought about how a nerd would work though.
What if the was a certain amount of things it could scan? 6 things for basic 10 for advanced and 16 for pro to. "things" being people uplinks supply depots etc.
It would bring new tactics to like a ammo/spawn pad spam diversion.If a basic scanner could scan 6 things place 6 things in a spot, that scanner sees them and not any players. Assuming that the things keen people were there the scanner and his squad head over there while the other teams squad flanks them or takes over an objective or killing the squad.
What do you think
