I am full scout proto gal scout. Running a passive radar tanked suit.

I've gotten tired of being scanned as well. I have a min assault using a low for a complex dampener to hide. That is your only and best defense if you want to play hide and seek. Of course, if the enemy employs information warfare, you only need to scan them right back to make it an even playing field, If you try fighting an enemy blind then of course you are going to get stomped. This week when i cap out im getting proto scanners. I can fit them on my suit without affecting my ehp too badly. Of course this way only a select few can hide and those unable will be up for 25sec perks of the quantum. I can do plenty of work in those 25 secs
Otherwise CCP will have to make a deploy-able jammer equipment as a counter. Seem fair enough as a decent counter for low-tier players

Son-Of A-Gun wrote:It is to powerful. All this game is now is just "find the red dot on your radar". Everyone pretty much always knows where everyone else is. It's boring. And the victory always goes to the the team with the fewest noobs on their side, who don't understand how active scanners will get them kill very quickly.
The active scanner is killing the fittings variety in this game. If you're not constantly running, AT LEAST, a suit that is below 36 dB odds are you're going to get rolled, or at the very least go ISK negative for the match, unless you are running in fittings that are 20k ISK or less.
So, outside of running junk std fitting, pretty much your only other option is to dampen. Well what's wrong with that you say. Well I'm glad you asked:
In order to get a medium suit to beat the adv scanner requires complex skills and a complex mod, which will put a med suit at 33.75 dB. So, first off, we are asking noobs to, before they do anything else skill wise, skill dampening to Lv5 and imediately start using complex dampeners on ever suit they fit if they don't want to keep getting rolled. But it doesn't stop there. In order, to counter the active scanner one must give up a vital low slot, thus drastically decreasing ones overal ability to survive. On the other hand the active scanner user must make no such sacrifices. With a minamal skill investment (Lv3 to get the adv scanner) you are easily on your way. All you have to give up to use the AS is one equipment slot. Easy enough if your a logi, you won't even notice. If you are an assault, so you'll have to look for a nanohive in order to rearm in the field - no big deal.
Scanners have no real draw back for the user. And to beat the scanner costs you the abillity to survive well. And not beating the scanner is even worse.
So there you have it scanner 514.

Not a nerf but suggested change in functionality to make scanners less no-brainers.

So what if it's literally impossible for them to avoid the ADV scanner - which is the one everyone uses! So what if they can't invest the SP to do it otherwise because they have MORE IMPORTANT SKILLS TO BUY like your CORES. So what if they QUIT THE GAME BECAUSE

I can see that know. but based solely on what you wrote, it is not clear what suit you were wearing. & as a proto Gal scout you are in the best possible situation in regards to AS's. So I don't quite see your point. If you skilled up properly you can easily avoid all but 1 scanner(that no one uses) w/ a single basic dampener. & still have 3 low slots & with your passive scan range you don't even need to use a scanner yourself. I run a Min scout & see no problem w/ sacrificing 1 low to remain unseen. Which I almost never have to do BTW. Often times having the enemy know my position is perfect for setting traps or corner camping with my shotty. |

He has stated multiple times in this thread that scanners don't bother him.
He has also stated multiple times that he is a carebear who wants them nerfed so that newbies don't insta quit the game because not only can everyone else always see them, it's a hefty SP investment for them to be able to counter it in any way, either with dampeners or with their own scanner.

the only reasonable nerf i could see the scanner getting is a, dont show who is squad leader, all red dots should appear the same unless you can actually see them b, scanner should JUST show a dot, and not the arrow showing the direction they are pointing, because pretty much at the moment its like the VR helmet from blacklight |

In my PERSONAL opinion; 'prepares for laptop exploding due to overload of spam', scouts should ALMOST NEVER have AS. "Why shouldn't scouts have AS?" The point of a scout is for no one TO KNOW your there. Now in situations when your screwing around and making enemies **** tanks, yeah. I recommend scanners if your traumatizing them because there seeing seeing 'YOU HAVE BEEN SCANNED' while there reading SCAN ATTEMPT PREVENTED', that is funny.
