Oh god yes. I want to come along for the ride. Make them do it in ALL 3 Gamemodes (Ambush, Skirmish, and Domination). And make them use Swarm Launchers and Plasma Cannons. Says the guy that supposed had access to decent tank turrets and modules, yet still had to use AV to destroy tanks.

We need as much diversity as we can possible have IMO. If the only effective Counter towards tanks is more tanks, then we do indeed end up With tankspam 514, is that really what you want?

The traditional rock paper scissors that all games like this should strive for gets kind of broken if someone can have scissors made of rocks, it leaves the papers little Choice....
And seriously Spkr, you have played probably hundred of hours of MAG, where modes like Aquisition and Domination required more tactic than any Dust Skirmish I've played. Please tell me whats so tactical about killing all the enemies and keeping those letters blue? Its almost always a case of the team With the best killers winning the game, at least in my experience.
If most games hadn't ended up With me standing and fighting snipers at the redline I would definately play it more, its just that I've spent hours upon hours merely standing there waiting for the game to end cause its absolutely nothing to do short of getting a sniper and try and Countersnipe towards the redline.
If we had skirmish 1.0 or something similar that is progressive, or indeed any form of capture the flag game mode you wouldn't se me anywhere else.
And in regards to Ambush, the "I don't play that game mode" is hardly a valid point in a discussion now is it? Those/we are a part of this game too after all.

With the removal of large blasters, tankers will off course get the occational infantry kill. Did you ever hear a ground pounder complain about getting killed by a rail or missile tank? I haven't.
If Heavy blasters would be removed, the tankers needs to fit their smaller turrets for Close infantri submission. This will lead to the tankers "suffering" from the same issue that AV infantry has, as an AVer you're pretty much dependant on guys to cover and take out enemy infantry or you'll not even get Close. To do everything you need more than 1 dude in the Box.
Today the tanks are:
- Very solid in terms of HP - Very solid in terms of keeping that hp With hardeners - Very solid in terms of repping time - Very solid vs anything not infantry - Very solid vs infantry - And they are fast to the point were it actually looks silly or "cartoonish" when you see them speed boost away...
Removing large blasters would give them a proper role on the Battlefield, not the "be all do all better than anything else" machines they are today. Does this sound balanced?
Stop complaining about pubs, pubs is pubs with crap matchmaking
1. lolambush, lolpubambush, lolmatchmaking and whoever spawns in 1st with the tanks win
2. No one complained ever, these turrets are anti infantry and can be anti tank also, 1.7 the right blaster can rip through a tank but its alot harder, this is an anti infantry weapon, a large AR for AR514 which this game still is
If you remove large blasters because they kill infantry very well will you also call for the removal of forge guns because they kill vehicles very well
So far we have infantry calling for the removal of the railgun turret and now the blaster turret so what we have left is just missiles and infantry will still cry about this turret if we keep killing infantry with it

All I see is:
PBI - get gud, use teamwork cause you need to do so to do any form of AV short of Jihad LAV.
I run a tank, and should be able to do it all short of hacking objectives, why should I Waste that PG/CPU and fill the smaller turrets With friends when I can manage alone and stomp anything alone?
Why should infantry be dependant on teamwork but the tankers should not?
And FFS, a real world argument? Really? ES, I didn't think you'd go that low. Well here's one for you: No tank today has a fast shooting anti-infantry gun as a priamry, that job is handled by the smaller guns on the tank, which it should on Yours too. This is not an argument I would ever bring up normally. (Yes there are some armored vehicles With a fast shooting 50 cal on the roof, not exactly the same as the giant blasters we have in Dust.)
And again, dismissing parts of the game cause you don't play it yourselves shows how selfish you really are.
And no, I wouldn't remove forge's, they normally need to be 2 to take Down any decent tanker, I would however increase the range of the smaller blasters so you don't get outranged by forges.

They probably wont, more excuses will show up for not take on the challenge and yet we will still be seeing threads about them calling "AV easy" and "AV'ers doing it wrong, get good" or "I only use basic AV and still kill tanks left and right"... I really like and respect most this community but some people is just laughable...

Why should i put small turrets on? i cant lock the doors, i cant kick players out who i dont want in my tank, i cant stop bluedots from getting in if one of my guys is out and hacking an objective - Give me the tools and may run small turrets again
Tankers use teamwork, i use teamwork and work with other tanks/infantry, i find AV do not use teamwork and still think that a clip of a proto swarm will take care of everything

Your challenge is doing AV in lolambush, then again how many times did AV say tanking was easy from 1.0 to 1.6? we even gave AV players a fully fitted top of the line tank and see if they could survive the whole game in it, only 1 person i know took the challenge on and lost the tank in 5mins so AV is also all talk while we are at it

Individually I don't have any issues With any of the Things mention above, its the combinations of all of them that is a tad too much currently. Another sollutions would be to give the dropships more effective weapons vs tanks, now that would be balanced. Tank>AV - DS>Tank and AV>DS or something like that, you see rock paper scissors, now iits tank tank tank. I don't come here pretending I have the ansver, all I know is that the game is a little too tank oriented atm.
The Things we can agree on is the loocking of vehicles so you don't get a bunch of nubs in there, you cot my sympathy there.
Anyways, I'm fed up With you now, you're obviously biased and think more about your own preffered role and little of the general Balance of the game. And do mind, I'm not here to get any sort of super tank nerf going, its just a tad too much atm.
And I'm also getting bored by all this, weren't you the guy that sat on a mountaintop fir half a year redline sniping With a tank? I mean, the community even named that hill up after you, it says a little about you as a player and by extension how biased you are. Its perfectly Natural tfor you to sit way out of harms way and just rack in the kills. I do protostomp true, but its not like the dude standing 10 m from can't shoot back....
And again its all about Your and Jason's claim, saying AV is easy. Easy compared to what? If you'd go back on Your Words and said: "AV play is challanging and it should be, its a tank FFS sake, being hard to kill is what they're all about. Yes you need to be 2 AVers vs a single tank in most cases but that is to be expected".
No but you come here and claim that you're good and all the AVers are just **** players that can't play the game properly. Its a very high nose selfish and not least childish way of looking at it. And I wouldn't have bothered to make this thread in the first Place. And still neither of you will take me up on that Challenge, and until you do, my point still stands.

Individually I don't have any issues With any of the Things mention above, its the combinations of all of them that is a tad too much currently. Another sollutions would be to give the dropships more effective weapons vs tanks, now that would be balanced. Tank>AV - DS>Tank and AV>DS or something like that, you see rock paper scissors, now iits tank tank tank. I don't come here pretending I have the ansver, all I know is that the game is a little too tank oriented atm.
The Things we can agree on is the loocking of vehicles so you don't get a bunch of nubs in there, you cot my sympathy there.
Anyways, I'm fed up With you now, you're obviously biased and think more about your own preffered role and little of the general Balance of the game. And do mind, I'm not here to get any sort of super tank nerf going, its just a tad too much atm.
And I'm also getting bored by all this, weren't you the guy that sat on a mountaintop fir half a year redline sniping With a tank? I mean, the community even named that hill up after you, it says a little about you as a player and by extension how biased you are. And again its all about Your and Jason's claim, saying AV is easy. Easy compared to what? If you'd go back on Your Words and said: "AV play is challanging and it should be, its a tank FFS sake, being hard to kill is what they're all about. Yes you need to be 2 AVers vs a single tank in most cases but that is to be expected".
No but you come here and claim that you're good and all the AVers are just **** players that can't play the game properly. Its a very high nose selfish and not least childish way of looking at it. Game universe - Its why tanks are fast because sci fi game universe and why the hell not 11. DS - Still useful except when a rail comes out but thats the point of a rail tbh 12. Biased - Just like you when you protostomp in FOTM fits like Cal logi and spam core locus nades or even the AUR locus nade which used to insta gib infantry and that was OP but AV nades could do it to tanks and that was fine lol 13. EnglishSnake hill - Thats was orginally with missiles, ended up rail because everyone went rail and was 2 shotting each other so missiles became obsolete also AV could shoot back because 400m lock time or FG or another tank gasp 14. I am good 15. AV players are bad - When i see them shooting AV at me when im shiny, when they try to solo me, when they use swarms against a shield tank etc 16. I would but lolambush

I had a good laugh yesterday, we were rolling a group of proto avers, they had about 4 forge guns and 6 proto aver's.
we were nearly fully specced out in militia tanks, every single person on our ambush team was calling in tanks, seriously their was a waiting line of people just sitting in the back waiting for tanks to come in, in fact so many tanks were coming in people were just leaving them for people to grab, and watching the show.
there were no ground people nobody was bothering to kill the aver's with infantry.
end score of the game was 72 -0 for the tankers.
it was a ******* joke, i'd pop my hardeners on and roll through the swarms with a laugh, i'd rail any forge guns from far away, they couldn't call in any vehicles since we had ours out first. |

Well yes to the first, but only because they come here and claim it is so easy to kill tanks, its no problem for them doing it in basic gear with little to no infantry skills. Forge gun work and ambushes with multiple light AV work. Now tanks with constant hardeners require porcy traps with forges to hit after words or other light AV. Forge guns kill tanks in 3-4 shots no hards on which most do not have on all the time. Other light AV it is almost required to have more than one or else it doesn't do enough damage. IMO swarms do need a slight buff. along with the plasma cannon, but not so much as to make the forge seem pointless. as it is supposed to be heavy AV. AKA the strongest AV. but this game has still yet to add any webifiers or other equipment to **** off tankers yet.
I think part of the issue here is that you have to spec into AV but you dont have to spec into tanks to achieve the same thing. |
