Well squad leader put a defend order on our lone tank, and he did prove extremely useful as tank bait. Most of the fights he would have lost one on one but with the AVs pecking away with the tanks trying to get to him and us mopping up the ones or closing off their escape routes proved fatal for all hostile HAVs that round. We got a few orbitals and nailed the rest of the redline tanks.

I don't really have an opinion on the current tanks as I rather like having such vehicles on the field doing their thing it just sucks when you don't have any on your side doing the same. Apart form that I do however wonder what the pilot light suit will do for vehicles mainly HAV's in future maybe the current state of tanks now is why we haven't seen them introduced yet. If they give cool downs to much of a benefit then the real crying will begin when tanks and other vehicle can stay perma hardened since such modules can be stacked and thus render AV null an void.

I witnessed a Gunlogi withstand an assault from my FG and 2 Proto SLs. It just stood there with its hardeners on. Then, I witnessed it with a Sica. Then a Maddy... then a Soma...
I had one Gunlogi withstand my FG, a Advanced SL, and a Maddy Missile Tank simultaneously.
We went from having to face maybe 1 tank per game, to 6 at a time constantly. I can finish matches 0/5 with 80,000 damage given...
CCP, and every delusional tanker that really thought they needed help... f*ck off.
This is the most broken I have seen the game since murder taxis.
When will this FoTM bullsh*t just f*cking stop already? Where is the common sense? Better yet, where is the research that warrants these changes? Every selfish faction in this joke of a playerbase only cares about their own opinion of how they think the game should be played, because they are FPS scrubs who couldn't stand out on other titles. 20 tankers b*tched loud enough and ruined the game for everyone. What's 20 people compared to the life of this game?
In the meantime you've had an exodus of this game like never beofre. Top players are leaving. Scouts have 100% given up. Even the kool-aid sippin' CPMs don't have a clue what's running through anyone's head at CCP anymore... then again I don't think CCP knows what's running through their head either. This game is one complaint after another. One bad review after another. One failure after another. EvE was just a one-trick-pony CCP was able to pull off after 10 years of debacle. Maybe they should just stick to the one thing they eventually got right. Every other project they have undertaken has simply failed on every level.
For how long did it withstand? 5mins, 1min, 20sec or 5sec?
Feeling the scanner is too simple and off balance?

I have been out testing a new tank fit today. If a forge hits me I just drive some where else before he gets his second shot off. Its good area denial except now I know his position. Ten seconds later I roll back and kill him. There is no way he can get off two shots before my neutron blaster can rip him to shreds. This is all without having to activate hardeners. I save them for tank on tank. Swarms are a joke, seriously I laugh as I turn and kill these guys. If it ever gets scary whit it doesn't I could just roll back out of their lock range. I can shoot them but they can't even lock on.

Tanks have always been here but what they are now is dumb because it is only fun if you also jump into a tank and once everyone is in a tank isn't fun all over again because then you aren't racking up easy infantry kills. Broken Broken Broken How fun will it be when all the scrubs you are camping just stop showing up?
Tanks are too fast, too cheap, too strong, too easy skill points-wise, too good at seeing around themselves, too good of range, too much ammo, don't require any teamwork, and too many of them are ruining the game.
Seriously, the majority of us don't like it. They WILL get nerfed or many of us will leave and this game has too few of players already. All you tanker fanboys should decide how important the win button is to you.

I have been looking at this and other forums. Either you think HAVs are over powered and hate the game, (people like me who invested all their SPs in shooting people in their face) or you love HAVs and think they should stay the way they are. After doing some thinking, mostly while on the throne, I have came up with some ways to" fix" the issue I refer to as Tankageddon .
1. Give us more range in which to engage a Tank. 150 meters is way to close, by the time I get a lock I am toast. I realize there are other ways to take down the Tank, but IMO SWs are now just about obsolete. 2. Slow the Vehicles down. If I happen to get a lock close to the end of the SW range and the tanker sees me fire, he pushes the "go fast" button and scoots away. It happens trust me. The DSs are even worse, I can' t even hit one. 3. Limit the amount on the battlefield at one time, 6 tanks is OVERKILL
Now for the "fix". This game is designed around EVE. For all you Non EVEers that's why you have CPU,PG and modules. So.... wait for it, wait for it..... and BAM put a Capacitor on the tanks. Guy wants to run 2 hardeners, cycling between the two during cooldown and proto ion blaster, by all means let the dude. But because he is not CAP Stable his stuff will stop working in 2 seconds making him vulnerable until his cap comes back up.
This "fix" allows exactly what CCP stated in their Press Releases before the update, the vehicles will be stronger and harder to take down but still have a vulnerability. (I am paraphrasing)

Infantry cries for tank changes, and they don't like them. Tell them to use vehicles, they complain, and use cars anyway

I have adapted my tactics a bit as I have an alt that is a tanker and am learning strengths and weaknesses of them.
Was in a match today with "743" I believe their name was who had a squad on the enemy team and I had two of my fellow 25mil sp players with me and one new player and an alliance member, also a fresh recruit.
It was a domination with A in the middle with the tabletop right over it. The tank spam was ridiculous, they started with three and took the letter and held it until our MCC shields went down, not good. We worked our asses off to get the letter and "bang", five tanks on the field, fantastic. I switch to my proto swarms, a couple dozen well placed remotes in a kill box, an advanced forge gun, helll even our sniper grabbed starter fit AV and helped out.
Long story short, we took out 9 tanks, 1 maddy, 1 logi, 7 sica's and soma's, held the letter, won the match, never took out a tank. Great come from behind victory even though they weren't top teir tankers they fought like hell.
Situational awareness on my part made that happen, the tanks had to get close to the letter to get us as we didn't have any of our own tanks on the field, told my squad very clearly how to defend that letter, and even the blues caught on to what we were doing "AMAZINGLY" a few were on team chat and dealt with the infantry.
It is possible under certain situations, on a more open map that tactic would not have worked. Killing tanks is very possible you just have to work for it and think a little.

I understand your frustration, but hardeners drastically reduce the damage vehicle receive. I'd tell you that you'd have to wait for the hardener to go on cool down to take down a vehicle, but that would be bullshit because the game allows us to fit multiple hardeners. And with some degree of SP investment, it is probably possible to have at least 1 hardener active almost all the time if not indefinitely.
We should only be able to fit 1 hardener.
Blatant Dust_514 recruiting in the silliest of places. :P

you must have had infantry support beyond AV. Or their blueberries didn't push.
we went into an ambush late. It was 61-79 when we got there. Our blueberries were getting hosed. I sacrificed a boss tank to push their tankers back. In the mean time truck and jams got their tanks in. Once we had a muster point we mopped up their tanks and pushed them back into cover. Our blueberries were still a non factor. It was their entire team as AV and our 3guys in tanks. It came down to one clone. There are battles all the time where a decision can make or break the outcome. For everything else there is tanks.
