Why oh why, do so many good players and good corps play for Gallente?
Is proto stomping random players, mostly noobs in basic gear that exciting? Do you get a thrill from redlining the map and then tripping over each other for kills while camping the one hostile uplink/CRU?
I was on a map earlier when 4 red tanks and a red squad had 4 squid players pinned in a bunker building. The rest of the map was red and we were the only four dudes doing ANYTHING for Caldari. And the Frogs were damn near killing each other to get in that building.
I want an honest answer. LP is not worth enough to play a boring game, that has no risk, no challenge. I have played on the frog side several times and it is as boring as a dead map on oceanic.
Please explain how killing noobs in basic gear, often stuck in the red line, is fun for full proto squads. Is K/D padding that important or are there other reasons? |

I understand this concept.
However, only a portion of players could call themselves loyalists. And lets pretend for a second all the masses playing for the Frogs are loyalists, which is not true. This is still a game. A game we play for fun. One side **** stomping the other side is NOT fun. It is boring, lopsided and simple. Yet all these high skilled players and corps continue playing for the same side when the outcome is already known.
I don't understand how that is fun. So there must be another reason other than "long live the federation." |

I admit that is a problem. Caldari is full of scrubs because most of the good players play for the same two sides. Even Amarr has more players than Caldari.
But that is the point of this post. There are so many scubs on Caldari because so many good players play for the Gal/min side. A few go Amarr and Caldari gets what left plus a bulk of the random blueberries.
And Frag brought up a point of the Gallente logi suit, which is a nice prize for fighting for Gallente. But the Caldari offers decent stuff also. Proto rail rifle, 100% needle, proto swarms.
And most importantly, a vast majority of the players I am curious about already have full proto suits and gear. So they don't need most of the LP items. I'm talking top players from Outer.Haven, Sver true blood, Ancient Exiles, Nyan San, Science for Death, Rainbow Effect, Dem Durty Boy's, OSG Planetary, Un holy Legion of Dark Star, and Dark Legion to name a few.
And there are more I can't even remember. Top players, top corps, all on the same side. It makes sense why the Caldari side is so awful right now.
What dosen't make sense is how these top players on the frog side are not bored out of their minds yet. |

Short answer is lack of balance in the gear you can purchase with LP. This game has always had 'superior' fits, and right now freeing up high slots for damage mods is better than shield regen... because the TTK renders shield and armor mods obsolete. |

I play gallante cuz I am gallante at hart And most of the stuff in the gallante Lp store is stuff I use. Proto logi/proto scout/armor rep/armor/scaners etc etc
So 4 me it's cost effective to run gallante. Now even more sence I just made lvl 7 It's like 4-5 proto suits every game
When I hit lvl 10 it will be AWSOME 1000LP every game plus 250 from the booster Again it's extremely cost effective if you are gallante as me.

Nonetheless, most players run FW in order to get the perks that their LP store gives. If someone wants Gallente LP store items more than Caldari, they'll run it. Until the open market hits and people can sell Gal gear to Cal FW players, this trend is not likely to change.
As for me, I run mainly Minmatar weapons and suits, so I run Matari FW. Since armor tanking is still better than shield tanking despite the new rifles, many good players still run Gal gear and so run Gal FW. It's as simple as that.

Baal, you bring up some good points and I can see where your coming from. But I know a lot of the players from the top corps I mentioned in my previous post already have proto suits and gear. They had it long before these changes to FW. The duvolle specialist is probably the only item they would need since you can't get it any where else.
And another poster mentioned its more cost effective to get proto suits through the LP store, and I can understand that is true while fighting for the Gallente. That is absolutely not true from the Caldari point of view. |

Interesting. You are the first person I have ever heard mention EVE influence as a deciding factor for your faction of choice in Dust, other than true loyalists of course. The Dust influence on Eve is still so small but it's good to know it effects some aspects of players choosing sides. Thank you for your input. |

For instance, I have proficiency 5 in ARs, and they still work well enough in CQC, so that's what I use in PC. How am I going to get a specialist Duvolle without playing for Gallente?
The other point to remember is that FW is generally a bad FPS experience due to it being laggier than pubs. If I'm not getting Gallente LP I'd sooner be in a pub, where performance is much more acceptable. |

Well there are lots of players who are into FW more than PC. You mentioned Science for Death, I think they're a dedicated Gal/Min FW corp. Those kinds of players are in it to further the goals of their chosen faction(s).
But yes, there are a lot of FW players who are just in it for the LP. I never played Eve and Dust doesn't really give us any information about the factions, so I can't say I feel any great loyalty to any faction. As it happens my character is Gallente, but that's purely based on the three sentence description it gives you when you start up the game for the first time. I wouldn't fight for them unless it gave me something useful.
As for gud fights, FW is the last place I'd go for those due to the lag. |

Thank you for your honesty Ryme. I was hoping FW would be a battleground for good fights and competition outside of PC. So far, that has not been the case.

Stop blaming Gallente. Maybe organize YOUR own squads and YOUR own EVE pilots? There. Gallente doesn't perform black magic rituals in the war room. For example, I'm a HMG Heavy. Nothing else. What useful thing am I gonna get for playing Amarr or Caldari? HMGs are Minimatar weapons. |

the battle finder has a large role in this, it is easier for the battlefinder to fit single players than squads so all the new solo players who don't even know what FW is get placed on the caldari and amar side because there is more open slots for players, they just enter FW with all the faction checked, on the other hand full squads always join the mimnatar and gallente side so that side fills up first.
The end result is that the caldari and Amar side ends up being a bunch of solo noobs who are going against full squads of experienced players. what the caldari's need is unity and patience, they need to wait till they two full squads and then and only then, join a match. What happens most of the time is I get in one squad and we go in and get crushed because our squad is the only one organized and doing anything. |
