Basic: 150 damage 1.5 second charge Advanced: 200 damage 1 second charge Prototype: 300 damage .5 second charge Because it should be extremely rewarding to sneak behind enemy lines without being seen, and I think prototype Nova Knives should kill prototype stompers with over 1k EHP.

You haven't even bothered to run the numbers, have you?
The current damage output is perfect for their tiers. You're just not considering the following factors which have been confirmed by people like me, IceShifter, Mr Musturd and the like.
1. Nova knives have double strike. 2. The base damage you see in the stats is the un-charged damage (quick slash attacks) per blade. 3. Minmatar Scout suits have a bonus to nova knife damage built into them. 4. Nova Knife Proficiency increases the damage. 5. Sidearm Damage modules increase the damage output.
Currently, a pair of Ishukone Nova Knives can effectively deal at least 1,200 HP damage when fully charged and everything maxed out with modules and skills on a Minmatar Scout suit.
There. You're dream of 1k HP damage has been around for a very long time.
EDIT: A maxed out Ishukone is enough to scare off even the most hardcore of heavies.
OK, CCP. When are knives finally going to be improved?

As Maken Tosch said (albeit somewhat abrasively) the knives do pretty good damage right now if you can get both strikes to land with a fully charged swing. We've done tests in the past that show that the Nova Knives do double damage when fully charged and they ignore typical armor/shield resistances - doing 100% no matter what and more so with a head-shot. I believe the damage deal to the head is around 165%.
So, the numbers currently (base, no taking into account skills or suits)
Standard: (90 damage) x 2 (fully charged) x 2 (strikes) = 360 - Head-shot: 594
Advanced: (150 damage) x 2 (fully charged) x 2 (strikes) = 600 - Head-shot: 990
Prototype: (200 damage) x 2 (fully charged) x 2 (strikes) = 800 - Head-shot: 1,320
Again, this isn't taking into account damage modifiers or suit/skill bonuses. I can understand why you would want the damage to be increased given that paper DPS is never going to amount to applied DPS (it is, after-all, very difficult to get that close without someone noticing) but they're very well balanced when the damage can be applied; the issues revolving around getting into range are the fault of other mechanics it seems.

Run proto an nothing else it's the only sure way, an if your gallente IMO that's a shotgun or rifle or smg fit, minmatar is the knife suit. You can't beat that 25% damage bonus, you ll never get that on a gallente unless you use proficiency 5 an a 10% complex sidearm damage mod an if so use the adv suit. You'll want the shield, an if you use proto u want fits like these Adv gallente Complex sadm Comp shield Smg Flux Compact hive Red/green
Gk0 Csadm Smg Ish knives Flux Red Pd Armor rep Range Remotes/compact hive Complex feroscale plate
But your gonna have more ehp an damage an move faster in a mini |

Can't you just admit that the charge time + the damage on the basic nova knives is absurd?

There are many things that are virtually useless at the basic level. Shield extenders, for example. So that's about par for the course in DUST.
Now, the cpu requirements on the other hand, truly are absurd.
I mean first of all... how do they require anything more than ZERO cpu? they're KNIVES!?!?!!!!! It's bad enough to have any requirement at all. But proto knives, require *48* cpu?? WTH?

ThisGǪ The biggest problem with NKGǪ. Fix this Now, i won't say they should be zero, i can see a charge interface causing them to draw power from the suit in order to justify some cpu usage, but should they be as or more fitting intensive as some Light Weapons? I don't think so, just can't be justified.

But I think you should be able to equip one knife for a little CPU/PG, and equip the other in the sidearm/primary slot to duel wield.

@Tectonic Fusion
The damage output of the nova knives are not the issue here. They are perfectly fine, even the standard knives are ok. Besides, the standard knives are meant more as a backup weapon for finishing a target in case you run out of bullets.
The issue on the knives is centered around a two factors.
1. Hit detection 2. FoV 3. Sprinting
Hit detection has improved somewhat, but there is still room for improvement. You are now able to apply damage while chasing a sprinting target if you use just the un-charged quick slashes. This is because of the curved damage that CCP has applied to the knives. However, the last time I tested this, there appeared to be a blind spot when the enemy gets too close to you and they avoid damage somehow. This needs to be fixed.
The second factor is the field of vision. So far there is tunnel vision and if your target moves out of the screen, you suddenly lose all track of him and then you go into a slight panic trying to figure out where he is while hoping he doesn't shoot you. The FoV needs to be expanded a bit for scouts or when wielding the knives so that you can get a better idea where your target it at when he's right next to you.
The final factor is the inability to sprint while charging. This is a feature that has been lacking for a very long time since the arrival of Chromosome and as a result this has caused a lot of headaches. It makes no sense that I have to walk to my target with charged knives while the enemy is back-pedaling at the same speed as I am to avoid it. If we are at least given the ability to sprint with the charge held, then we can finally have some real fun.
Beyond that, the damage output for their respective tiers is perfect.
OK, CCP. When are knives finally going to be improved?

There is your main problem.
You're using a weapon primarily designed to shine for the Minmatar Scout on a Gallente Suit primarily designed for just pure stealth and recon.
The Minmatar is the true ninja of the class thanks to it built-in nova knife damage bonus and better sprint speed. The Gallente is the true stealth suit with an additional advantage towards scan range. Gallente scouts are just an all-seeing-eye suit. I suggest you cross train into the Minmatar Scout if you want to take full advantage of the knives.
OK, CCP. When are knives finally going to be improved?
