It's not a rant, and yes i meant proto fit tanks... just as my advanced medium assault drop suit is proto fitted to AV, i've been playing this game since the beginning of march so have been around from when tanks were indestructable and CCP had to buff the AV equipment, ordinarily i run as a ground pounder with a blueprint ar and would only pull out my AV or sniper fit when it was necessary to do so, ie when a decent tanker or sniper was hounding us... then for the few days i spent cowering behind rocks and in buildings after 1.7, i came to the conclusion that the game in it's current form is unplayable |

It's hard to LOS them when they have a free LOS of the whole map....
I don't think it's exactly viable to float behind a single tower the whole match.....

yes because I perssonally use a railgun that means they are the only method of destruction....
and dont insult me by calling me a redline railtank, unless of course you mean when i go into THEIR redline and kill them :P

I had no idea the only part of flying a dropship was calling it in.
Wow, I've been doing it so wrong all this time, flying around trying to support my team. Man, if only I knew it was all about just calling it in.

Aside from veteran tankers, you rarely see anyone in a tank go 30/0 anymore and veteran AVers have no trouble taking hey new tanks out. They basically found a good middle ground by making it harder for either side to kill eachother unless you get good at it.
I tried to put a level into Amarr Commando once, but got a server notification saying "Why?"

And your telling me that tanks were underpowered? Your telling me that it was fair, that well over half a team couldn't fell 1 tank! Please we all know dropships were underpowered my mass driver took them out if they flew low enough!
But tanks now, they are grossly overpowered and you ARE A FOOL to think that its not! Tanks should never be the only counter to tanks! Thats escalation gameplay, it boils down to who has the most tanks, infantry tactics don't come into it if there is escalation gameplay because a superior infantry force at the moment, no matter how superior can't stand up to a blaster tank!
So please before you start embarrassing yourself get out of this game, because soon enough every tom **** and harry are gonna be in tanks, because nothing else is viable and its down to downright stupid people like yourself who believe tanks are the be all and end all of the battlefield!

ive done it with a toxin SMG, getting 8+ focusing on just stopping me from running intot he redline to killt hem all, dodging granades of all types, every type of gunfire imaginable.
just little ole me and a toxin keeping half their team stuck into the redline.
doing it in a tank is as OP as doing it in my sever logi with a toxin
the ability to do so istn dependant on what you use, but rather how good you are. |

I dont remember doing that in 1.5 If i did invisible swarms and FG would eat me alive generally Of course you wouldn't remember, it 2as pub stomp like any other, you and spkr literally charged into the redline! You didn't give a flying f'ck about the AV because despite the fact well over half the team was using it, it did almost no damage. And now Proto AV isn't much more effective! Just like these Tanks, AV shouldn't be FORCED to use teamwork! Teamwork should be considerably more efficient and more likely to pull off, Teamwork should be desirable, not a necessity!

I have been regularly running with AV since the game was in beta . And have continued to do so again with this last patch.
Is team work better and more efficient? Atm yes most defiantly. 1 proto forge / Proto swarm / 2 Proto forge or 2 Breach advanced forge. This is the current minimum I have observed to be required to effectively take out a standard quality tanks without a long drawn out strategy or chase.
I have personally been running with proto and advanced forges with some advanced fluxs killing Both armor and shield militia tanks. I wont say its a cake walk at this point since the hardener change. But it is very possible to solo. And to do so consistently.
A higher quality tank should not be so easily killed however. Do we need more AV utility options? Like the long pined for web grenades?( ment to slow tanks or temprorarily stall them) I think so yes. To better balance AV . And Swarms Have and can kill tanks atm. But not solo to my knowledge or at least Not easily solo. And defiantly not against standard quality tanks.
The prices are almost right and while I think standard quality vehicles in general might need a slight increase The milita ones are cheap and minimal effectiveness. Does AV need work? Yes of course. Does it all need a buff? No. Av nades and swarms certainly need another pass. But forge and tanks are imo well balanced atm . If you think your proto forge should be able to solo a tank. Completely alone. You are delusional.
Frankly a team that allows any player be they in a tank, proto in a lav , a DS squad, or simply on foot, to run rampant and without counter deserves to loose and loose horribly. Don't be a *****, man up and actually learn to fight rather then rage about a nerf when it is your poor tactics or lack of skill on the part of you, your squad, or your team, that is resulting in the repeated failure to win. |

He's not talking about anyone around the tank, he's referring to the recently patched issue where tank drivers couldn't render basically anything beyond say 100m, and it was kinda iffy if anything'd get rendered at all until about 50m away. Sure everyone around the tank could see you, but odds are, the man in the tank himself could not.
