It would have to cost WP for regular weapons/suits eg.
500 WP - ADV
750 WP - PRO
those numbers mightn't work but you get the idea,
everyone starts in STD grade, with an even chance
It would make for really fun battles |

Remove ISK
Replace with WP
So you essentially buy your OBs, Your ARs, your HAVs with how well you do. Mind you everytime you kill someone in FW you lose your money and if you start the match with 0 WP you must deploy in a starter fit....oh wait.

You won't get to call one in, i guarantee it, spend half the match grinding points for ONE tank, then you -might- get to the vehicle spawner, and guess what? You generator is down. As an AV player: So instead of me being able to play straight AV, I have to NOT go AV at the beginning of the match because nobody can bring vehicles straight off, then I get to go around NOT using what I'm skilled for, get slaughtered, and hope like crazy that I can build up enough WP for a half-decent AV fit before the tanks roll in? Yeah, not so much. |

I know where you are coming from but even though I am on the AV side this is not a good idea. This would work if vehicles where nothing you have to SP on. This implementation would screw anyone that invested SP in Vehicles and would practically lock them out of the game.
Currently things are a bit out of balance but this is not the way to solve things.... |

But that would kill the purpose of ISK and squad/team tactics. There are overpowered weapons that are just as over powered as the tanks and vehicles that are in battle. There are damage amps and prototype forge guns that do a number. Not to mention automated installations (especially the rapid-firing rail guns). So when you put all that into perspective, then you take into mind that when you do take out those vehicles with teamwork and/or high powered weaponry or another vehicle, the more overpowered the vehicle they are using, the more it will cost the user and result in simply losing 3 million from two tanks, which they can not buy again until they make up the money, which definitely takes several matches before they can use them again. Or they will just give up after being pinned down too much, as they like to do. So either way, they will stop for a time. So, just try to make use of the items at your disposal and see what happens, you never know. hope this helps ^^. |

Or would it just be during the game, because as long as it wouldn't be sucking away all your WP at the end, it's... kinda cool actually. Might make people actually rush the objective at the start of the game on foot instead of bringing in five tanks.

I have a better idea, which uses the pilot suits that we will get at some point:
Base it on the Titanfall system. You get a countdown for summoning assault vehicles (Tank/ADS). The timer freezes while you have an assault vehicle active, so after destruction/recall you need to wait again for the countdown to end. Transport vehicles (LAVs/dropships) are not affected. In theory, you could alternatively use WP to shave time off of the countdown (Or make it entirely WP dependant, by making only the WP count that are gained without an active vehicle and removing the countdown) - That's up to debate.
Also, vehicles are now limited per player instead of per team, which flows far more naturally than "hurr, you can't summon your LAV because your team is drag racing". The number would be adjusted by CCP, because I don't know how it affects the performance of the game to have one HAV and three LAVs or something per player.
However, here is where we use the strengths of Dust:
- Finally introduce Pilot suits
- Pilot suits do not have a countdown for their vehicles.
- Other capabilities are up to CCP, but they should be weaker in straight-up combat than other dropsuits and have neither equipment nor grenades.
This has multiple effects:
- Dedicated pilots will have direct tank access just like they do now. No changes to them.
- Dedicated tankers will not be able to jump out with their heavies and mow you down while you lay REs. This makes additional gunners more important and removes the ******** "you cripple yourself against the driver when using AV" issue. One less crutch.
- People that only occasionally tank get limited in how often they can do so per match. This limits militia tank spam efficiently and makes a tank kill a viable deterrent, especially as bomb trucks don't have a cooldown.
- Redline tankers are forced to either specialize into piloting or to wait for the countdown before they can summon their tanks. And any kill on them will efficiently frustrate them.
- Quick recall is not a viable tactic anymore, which also means that infrastructure (supply depots) gains importance |

Most tank operators these days are heavies with RRs. And those are definitely not vulnerable, especially when you manage to get their tank to critical health in a 1on1 chase. Then they hop out, shoot your AV ass (Which does jack **** against infantry, especially heavies) and hop back in and activate the reppers.
That's one of the major balance issues here - A tank contains the counter to its counter in a handily armored package. |

ISK-bought Militia fittings should be the only things you can bring in without spending WP. You need to earn before you're allowed to use something that cuts away your ISK costs. Having any BPOs on your fitting should double the base WP cost for your suit and tier. And having a single Proto mod on any suit, vehicle or whatever should raise its WP cost appropriately.
This way, it's not unfairly punishing players who skilled into vehicles specifically. It's unfairly punishing everyone who skilled into anything.
Much better than OP. Still a horrifically and stupidly bad idea. |

Why? I paid good isk to have and use those vehicles.
I would be more for other types of wp rewards, such as air strikes or orbital scans, then the squad lead would have to choose what kind of tactical strike he would want. |

That was CCP's original idea for vehicles. But then, if you're a pilot, it doesn't make sense to have to wait for your squad to get enough WP for you to call in a tank.
I mean, it wouldn't be right if you had to wait for a minimum amount of WP before you could use a PRO suit, right?

LOL I don't even tank and I think this is a bad idea that pushes Dust more towards you average generic lobby shooter than it already is. Plus, no more getting LAVs or dropships to get to objectives quickly as the beginning of a match. Its just a bad idea all around
Most tankers are like sand people. They frighten easily, but will quickly return...and in greater numbers.

That's why I use a tank because I like tanks and not to win easy with a crutch. I fully support not allowing heavies to be able to drive themselves around in anything and only a light suit be allowed to drive a tank.
This heavy for everything is just getting out of hand.
