i have to start by saying that it is ridiculous to have needle laser like dot for its crosshair, if it is going to have such short range , its dispersion should be greater and do more damage, secondly both when ADS and when hip firing the muzzle flash makes it nearly impossible to even see the crosshair we're meant to be so accurate with, so i ask you people see for yourself , links below, in order not firing hip fire and ads, ccp save the fat people before all our kind use light weapons, we need way less muzzle flash to be able to actually see, we need more dispersion and it needs to do more damage, like radiating to that large circle, sorry the pics are all angled , i was in a hurry, apparently red dots dont care about any photo oportunitys and were shooting me in the back so hence the rush and funky angle

So this is what Jastad was so vehemently complaining about earlier. Jesus christ man. How the hell are you supposed to fire your weapon when the entire cross hair area is completely covered!
I also think what you're saying about the spread is for the bullets to be spread 'radially outward' from the center of the dot, rather than pinpoint accurate on the dot for the chance of a successful hit.
But, I totally agree. That is insane and incredibly ridiculous.

In not a heavy but i have tried a couple 'golem' hmgs with a couple heavy suits from a past event. It really is too accurate, right now the enemy has to be EXACTLY DEAD CENTER. For CQC it should have a huge amount of spray that anything within the circle could get hit especially up close. Of course that means where the bullets go could be random . That alone would mean at longer distances a heavy would have to crouch to hit consistently and this would mean the optimum and effective range could get buffed as well. The cone spray won't be accurate to hit distant targets but a target could still get hit by the spray as long as they are within the cone.
This way the HMG could be great up close as a CQC point defense that won't hit consistently at range. I think this is turn would make other heavy weapons align with their racial battle philosophy. The HMG being minmatar is about close to mid range hail of bullets but not pinpoint as how the weapon is trying to function now.

Just give it a cone spread and increase the damage per bullet to compensate. Here is the math I did:
1200 RPM 50 Damage Against 1m wide hitbox
2.2-¦ spread (DPS vs range too high, maybe good for Burst HMG)
25m = 1000 DPS (optimal) 40m = 666 DPS 60m = 416 DPS 80m = 333 DPS 100m = 263 DPS
2.8-¦ spread (My recommendation for regular HMG)
20m = 1000 DPS (optimal) 40m = 500 DPS 60m = 333 DPS 80m = 250 DPS 100m = 200 DPS
3.8-¦ spread (Not bad either)
15m = 1000 DPS (optimal) 20m = 769 DPS 40m = 384 DPS 60m = 250 DPS 80m = 185 DPS 100m = 151 DPS
Those numbers (2.8-¦ spread) would make the HMG king in <40m, suppressive from 40m to 60m and damaging out to 100m. It could now do point defense (as it would slaughter in CQC) and keep an enemy squad suppressed at range (300 DPS at 60m still hurts) while not outclassing the rifles (who have longer ranges) at their optimals of 50m+.
That there would help the Heavy class tememdously. |

I dont see the problem of the crosshair, maybe its that i've played lots of games that dont have crosshair so im quite used to never use it.

My only counterpoint is that we are talking about a Heavy Machine Gun here. A Heavy Machine Gun that looks exactly like the M134 yet is over 5000 years in the future. The modern M134 can shred a car in 2 seconds at 1000 meters. Now I know were not playing ARMA and for game balance the thing can't have realistic range and damage. But come on, it should still resemble a Heavy Machine Gun in spirit! Where if you're in front of it while it's firing, regardless of range, then jump for cover because it's going to hurt...
Heavies are slow, big, limited in slots, and have no equipment. As such, the gun they're carrying should make up for it in sheer suppressive power. |

The flare is stupid you can't see anything. Given that everyone else has these wonderful cross hairs I think the heavies should not be blinded by a stupid animation.

I am wondering are you trying to phase out the Heavy in this game. The heavy or sentinel as you like to call it is far from being able to complete it's role of defender, guard(sentinel), or like the start of the game would show a force to be reckoned with. I don't see one new HMG weapon on your list for 1.7. As of late you have promoted scouts and free scout suits which leads me to believe you would prefer a bunch of jack rabbits running around with shotguns that poop grenades when you kill them. The HMG is no longer a true HEAVY MACHINE GUN. If you need proof watch a modded Gek take down a heavy at close range. Even in the present there isn't much of a chance of any assualt weapon (AR) cutting down someone in front of them with a multi-barrel HMG! If you think it has to do with my own personnal skills in the game then look around and you will see Heavies running with assualt weapons or the OP-scrambler rifles or even worse a heavy with a shotgun. As of late I have had to damage mod my proto HMG just to try and compete with the damage dealt out by other advanced weapons. Awhile back you took away the range of HMG and added red and yellow flames that come out of the barrel when firing at red targets(bad idea). You took away the range and now the blast radius of the forge gun making it half the weapon it used to be for infantry kills but you are soon going to increase the power of tanks? All of this nerfing to the heavie's weapons and new weapons for other roles leads me to believe the heavy is not an important role in the future of this game and you don't mind if HMG's are not used by Heavies with heavy weapon slots. A true sentinel of any objective should be feared as the name sentinel reflects but this is far from true and the options if you stay true to character and run heavy weapons is very shallow. Lol i so explained that.i was getting shot.i triied to get a pic with the flare and a red dot where the cross hair but died twice in the effort i figured all points would be illistrated even without an enemy.even though i would argue that even if there was a red there you wouldnt see him through the flare.but even tho its in a sexy facebook angle the points remain valid.that muzzle flash hides 90% of the crosshair combined with having to be pin point accurate and it gets to being an ugly situation

as u can see, tracking the target while firing ADS is almost impossible. you cant see!!!
and even in hip firing its difficult bc the only hit point in our large reticule is the little dot in the center, and that goes off target bc we cant track the enemy through the *flare*
really, really ridiculous that they didnt test this stuff.

I can see that there really is no real reason to consider going back to that MH-82 I used to love so much. I think if the fire is supposed to be Pin Point accurate you should have a crosshair not a circle with a 1px dot for the crosshair if CCP used a + in the center of the circle like a O with an X or + that covers the diameter of the circle it would solve most of the issue, be easier to aim and still allow heavies some range, which is needed being so slow that a turtle can jog backwards faster than them.
