Indeed. And those vets who do frequent pubs will probably run less proto to make up the ISK. A nice downstream effect of this.

Is this going to make the Scotty problem worse? As players are now going to be even more bonded to a single faction, players may have a hard time finding a match. Will there be special bonuses to losing factions or something to encourage faction switching?

Awesome things in our future, thank you for iteration on FW.
One question though:
Why take the Warbarge Strikes from FW but leave them in for PC?? FW participants are technically still fighting for NPCs and in PC you fight for players, seems silly for player driven battles to receive NPC Orbital support while the NPC driven battles must arrange for player Orbital support.

Does the EVE pilot have any repercussions as well? ps... Unfortunately I can't take advantage of the LP store since I run Caldari gear and my Corp is purely Gallente Alligned. That said, really nice update! No the EVE pilot is not punished for friendly fire. They can only shoot where you tell them, so it's kind of your fault ;)
I've been worried about this and the team killing.
There is no team deploy so there is no guarantee that the people you randomly enter battle with will be able/willing to communicate.
Will a squad leader be penalized for dropping an orbital on teammates?
In PC you are able to tell your people to clear the objective, sometimes you drop the orbital even if it kills one or two teammates because it's necessary.
Remove time in battle from ISK payout formula and provide a bonus to winning team... Watch battles become fun again.

So if I want to be a bad-ass logi and run an uplink, a needle and a repper, I need to farm LP across 3 different factions, right?
Why not, say, allow people to SELL the faction items they are farming to other mercs via a player market, hmmm?
Also.... If I play a match for Team A, I get 75 points for team A and -15 for Team B. Next, I cue up a match for Team B, get 75 points for B and -15 for Team A.
As long as I keep alternating between the two factions, I get a net 60 point gain, per faction, every two matches.
Won't this discourage people aligning for one faction, when it makes more sense to multi-faction?
Further, will there be associated faction standing impacts? Doing a match for Gallente will boost Gallente and minmitar to a lesser degree, while dropping both Caldari and Amarr standings.... or is it just a simple one for one?

Many of these changes seem like nice strides in the right direction. I am sure it will make Faction Warfare a better destination for those involved and, with luck, the combat there will be of a higher caliber and more balanced.
That being said...I do wish to reiterate my belief that these changes will not provide the true results you are looking for unless they are quickly followed up by two key changes. The first is of course the player-based market. The second is the ability to team-deploy.
While the pluses for a player based market are well known and thoroughly discussed in many relevant postings, I feel it is the ability to team-deploy that must be emphasized here and now. A lot has been been mentioned in regards to the increased incentives and unique rewards that players stand to gain from these changes. But what has not really been brought into the open is the considerable increase in risk that these matches will entail. I won't go on to list everything off because I think veterans of the game know full well what I am talking about.
Risk and reward...they have always gone hand-in-hand in New Eden. And it just stands to reason that many of us are not going to feel comfortable deploying into the Burnzone where the potential for 10 of your 16-player team are relative strangers. I sincerely hope that Team True Grit it taking the necessary steps to make Team Deploy a development priority for the very near future.

Note: The DUST economy is a closed system. An ISK Faucet adds money into the system, while an ISK Sink removes money from the system.
Part of the reason you see people proto-stomping in pub matches is because there is so much money in the system. Removing money (but keeping FW rewarding) will allow for a significant amount of ISK to leave the system (an ISK sink), while keeping standard PUB matches as the ISK faucet.
This will take a while to balance out, but what I hope will happen is that more serious players will go proto in FW, while using pub matches to farm the ISK they need in order to buy their suits for FW matches.
The next step involves a player market... so that LP gear bought with the proceeds of FW matches can be sold on the market for pure ISK, helping the FW-warriors fund their FW matches without adding an extra ISK faucet to the system.
Now... the real question becomes... when will DUST players be able to create buy/sell orders on a player market?

Speaking as someone who was part of the masstest on Singularity and watching these AWESOME new changes work out first hand, I have to say this is -definitely- the right direction and we're finally starting to see the Eve-Dust link get fleshed out.
Very excited and I can't wait until 1.7 goes live.
My only question is this:
Will the orbital mechanics changes apply to PC? Are warbarge strikes still an option in PC?

They keep catering to the solo playing people for some reason. I think team deploy in FW would have helped pushed some folks into corps to try and raise their game a notch.
The lack of an ISK payout in FW in combination with no player market will lead to either an AFK nightmare in pubs or FW. I'm guessing in pubs at first, but it'll depend on how much LP is given per match vs the cost of goods in the LP store. THIS is so painfully obvious that my 7 year old daughter would predict it given the scenario.
In Eve players have the ability to do other things to earn ISK to support their PvP habit. OR they are in corps that are involved in other ISK generating ventures and help their pilots with ship replacement programs.
The lack of foresight on this issue boggles my mind. And I know for a FACT that the CPM brought it up to CCP.

New orbital mechanics apply to PC as well, however we are leaving the warbarge strike in for PC for the time being. This was actually a request from the CPM while we discuss the possibility of opening up orbitals to people outside of the dust corps alliance.

They answered that, the warbarge strikes will stay in PC.
There is at least some incentive for FW pilots to drop orbitals, that isn't the case in PC.

They said they didn't want to wait for the market to release this but it's not supposed to be far behind. Also, there isn't a need to go full faction on your fittings and attempting to farm multiple factions, although two shouldn't be that difficult.

But I argue that the amount of ISK in the system isn't because of a healthy mechanic.
1) The top 1% of Dust that's been successful in PC 2) Players that AFK 3) Players that run BPOs nonstop
You can't accumulate large amounts of ISK running a 2.0 KDR with ADV gear in pubs. In fact the mechanics now reward those that choose to do less to increase their profit margins.
If you can't profit more going 10-5 with 1500 WP in a pub match than a dude who goes 0-0 with 0 WP then the system is broken.
