I always use a proto scanner, and i noticed more and more lately that people have found those dampeners finally..
Cant rely on my scanner anymore.. :) |

the sp investment from 3 to 5 in dampening isnt worth 9 cpu

Proto scouts only need Lvl 2 in dampening and one militia or basic dampener to avoid 28dB proto scans. Anything more than this is a waste of CPU/SP/ISK. If you -really- want to, you can get dampening to 5 and use 4x complex to avoid the Duvolle Focused, but that'd make you paper thin (and an idiot).
Since almost everyone and their mother who scans uses the A-45 Quantum Scanner (36dB), medium frames need 3x militia dampeners (no skill), 2x basic or militia dampeners (lvl 2 skill), or one complex dampener (lvl 5 skill) to avoid the advanced scans. Using any more than this to avoid advanced scans is a waste of slots/ISK/CPU. For proto scans (28dB), medium frames need 3x enhanced (lvl 3 skill) or 2x complex (lvl 5 skill). |

I do very well. Especially against Nyain San and others who have just become so heavily reliant on scanners.
I run into proto scanners pretty much every match. maybe it's matchmaking, maybe it is reputation, either way people I go against always have them out and if I don't run dampeners then they know where I am.

I run Proto scanner, just because i can. I know there are people out their who know most people use only Adv grade scanners and try to get under them so it is fun to throw off their game and scan them with a proto scanner.
Unless you are rich and have a lot of extra SP i would not recommend it those because the Adv onces are only slightly worse.
