It sucks to get killed by them, but to be fair, they are grenades...and that's what grenades do.
Besides as Repe pointed out they're pretty hard to fit. They're also expensive to skill in to. If they weren't as strong as they are now then there would be little return for the investment required. This is coming from someone who does not use nor ever intends to use them (I do think grenades are a little cheap in any game). Just stay on your toes.
For best results press R1 repeatedly. Consult your doctor if your erection persists for more than four hours.

With suits unable to fit all equipment without sacrificing one thing or another it is just one another thing that is draining CPU/PG. They need to increase CPU/PG on assaults so we do not have to choose between survivability or being competitive.

And to be on the subject of grenades, that they are "Grenades" and should OHK people, in most shooters you are wearing a flak jacket and can survive near blasts pretty OK, but now that we are in the future where we hold miniature black hole generators in the version of guns that need time to penetrate shields then armor.....but hey ...look this magical grenade kills you in one toss...
Grenades need to be toned down for 6 months already, they should come in handy when tactics ask for it, not come in handy at every possible scenario....

I use passive scanning to my advantage. It takes a scout to bypass it enough to hug me. It's like the Active Scanner, but always on. I don't meet many people willing to dampen this build, so I'm making them pay with my passives. It also helps that I keep cover nearby when I do get the off-chance meeting of three or more people with something higher than a standard Plasma Rifle. I can take two GEKs if they aren't heavily damage modded or are super dual tanking.
Kind of reminds me of last night for my last game. Hopped into an Ambush, saw that was it a losing game it gave me. Whatever. Spawn. Walk forward, mow down five people with my HMG, backpedal, seemed to have stirred confusion. Team does nothing but sit there in awe as I'm limping back with a fraction of armor left. Laser in the back gets me. Okay. Respawn, team still doing nothing to help. WHATEVER. Push forward by myself, see eight guys cuddling one another in a corner, everyone too afraid to move. Get gunned down by them. Duvolle got me. I damaged all of them in the hopes team would push up. They didn't. They (the enemy) thought they were okay to move. I respawn. NOMNOMNOMNOM more kills because they thought they were okay to move. Firing squad of eight once again gets me. Damn laser guy. Game over. DEFEAT.
I really can't see how people can knock on the HMG when it's pretty gnarly. I'm looking forward to putting prof. on it. It's an extremely underrated weapon apparently. Seeing the fear of an enemy team at the hands of a single HMG is enough for me to keep using it. The key to not being ganked is to be aware and I do so with the passive scanning. You literally have to drop on top of me or be dampened for me not to spot you.
Added note: Since we are on the topic of grenades, I usually keep away from corners until I know for a fact that they're either stupidly going to charge me or after I see them throw those grenades. GNNNNNRRRRRRR! Nomnomnom.

I get killed by grenades very rarely cause I'm not in the clusterfuck that is the firefight in the middle of wherever the confrontation tends to be. That being said I forget I even have grenades most of the time unless I'm fighting a caldari shield tank (Carries flux grenades, a plasma cannon and a pistol on my scout main fitting.) Grenades should do exactly as they do now. They may be easy to spam but honestly a grenade kills what it explodes near in horrific effect on a real battlefield. The grenades are scaled to kill or severely injure on each tier of dropsuit. So yes, a proto nade should be able to kill a proto dropsuit or at the very least leave it in serious trouble and crippled for combat effectiveness and life expectancy .
Dedicated scout. Because the suit is underpowered. Imagine the good ones when we get buffed people ;)

The logibro-heavy pair really suffers when a Core Locus grenade is thrown their way. Most usually the logibro instantly dies, leaving the heavy without the support it really needs. In this respect, we really need better grenade indicators to tone down the effectiveness of the grenades. Besides that, grenades are fine. I die to them more because I don't know where they are and walk over them rather than because they're spammed. I find the only situations where people can effectively spam grenades is when they don't have a direct line of sight and as such cannot effectively use the grenades.
I do get peeved when I start shooting someone and they back around the corner, cook a nade, pop out and blow my face off, but that requires a modicum of skill and I respect their decision in the heat of the moment, but seriously, shoot back at me.
Also, give heavies explosive damage resistance. It's too bloody easy to get them with a core locus because they can't bloody waddle away from the blast radius fast enough.

27mil sp and i still don't have them 9/10 people would tell me i'm doing something wrong but i like my M1's and will be getting Core soo.
But with my luck as soon as i get them they will be nerfed because from what i seen people would say they are OP. I say they are annoying and effective, maybe slightly OP but i can't really make that call since i never used them.

Mass drivers get +10% area affect + 5% damage as you go from standard to advanced to prototype (plus the mass driver skill itself).
That's a good progression - the area effect means more kills, and the 5% damage bonus is pretty standard between weapon tiers.
Grenades, however, get +10% area effect + 25% extra damage as you go up tiers. That means there's a strong incentive to go proto, and also makes it hard to balance std/adv/pro because the damage is so wildly different.
IMO, drop the +25% damage per level down to say, 10%.
Locus: 400 damage @ 6m M1 Locus: 440 damage @ 6.6m Core locus: 480 damage @ 7.2m
Still worth upgrading from std to adv, still worth going proto if possible, but less stupidly high alpha at stupidly high area.

REMOVE THE ABILITY TO COOK. REDUCE AMMO COUNT TO 2.
Why? Now they are tactical. You use them to force targets to vacate an area. Grenade goes down, they now have to move or die. Works great if they have to move into your line of fire as well

I could not agree more, I used to run support logi but gave up on it as I died to grenades multiple times each match. Most often when keeping close to a heavy to rep him I get blown up by grenades I did not see. Have switched to scout and keeping away from the blue blob and instead go for flanking. Now I am rarely killed by grenades.
Explosive resistance to the heavy class sounds like an excellent idea. He is too slow to escape core locus grenades. I have a few SP points in heavy and HMG, and the most used counter is grenades, how freaking annoying it is to have grenades thrown at me when I too slow to escape the blast radius while at the same time keeping an eye on the red assault player. |

I am one of those cant touch me scrubs.. But I support Richiesuties 2 and others that feel that nanohives should only provide ammo for H L S weapons.

I feel like the grenades in this game are too easy to kill with because they're so aparent. In other games you don't see a lot of grenade spam because they're not as easy to replace and they don't have as big of a blast radius.
In this game, you throw a grenade behind someone and they walk backwards onto it because they don't see the indicator anymore...or you die by a grenade because you turned around and had no time to react to the indicator that didn't appear...or you die because your pinky toe got caught in the blast radius as you're running away.

KEEP THE DAMAGE. They should kill things. They're grenades. It's what they do.
REMOVE THE ABILITY TO COOK. REDUCE AMMO COUNT TO 2.
Why? Now they are tactical. You use them to force targets to vacate an area. Grenade goes down, they now have to move or die. Works great if they have to move into your line of fire as well Twisted I am guessing this is your first FPS game then .... All we need is NO grenades from a nano hive. ......Then we see how that turns out... I am one of those cant touch me scrubs.. But I support Richiesuties 2 and others that feel that nanohives should only provide ammo for H L S weapons.
