You can't deny what is happening.
Everyone is leaving, and probably a big part is because of proto stomps. Face facts, as QQ as it is for those unwilling to stomp back or to waste ISK or who can't run proto yet, your player base is dying. As New Eden as it is to say HTFU, your bottom line will be better served by keeping vets and encouraging new players to stay past the first match out of academy.
When will you address proto stomping. Say anything. Stop leaving us hanging. If you don't care, then tell us so we can move on and leave the forums like we left the game. If you realize it is a problem, there are lots of great ideas that your user base, intent on keeping dust around and fun, have contributed. For example. Maybe it could at least get the ball rolling.
Sad day for me last night, I keep wanting to give Dust another chance, but last night I finally did the big delete to save me from wasting my time anymore. Will be checking forums for release notes, but as a closed beta tester, Dust was supposed to be my last ps3 game. |

Those don't count as communication?
On the topic of "proto-stomping", I've never really found it to be that much of an issue. I just revert back to cheaper fits and keep pushing. I think a lot of the people playing this game are taking it FAR too seriously.
As Pyrex was just saying today, a system in matchmaking to prevent putting squads against randoms would probably clean this issue right up. We still haven't heard much as far as details on the backend of Dust for 1.7, so that might be part of the information they said was still yet to come.

The game dying makes it very difficult to fix the problem that is causing the game to die.
Without new players no matchmaking will ever work due to the fact that we will either gripe about slow matchmaking times or have to deal with protostomps. I have a feeling factional getting friendly fire added is going to drive even more protostompers into pub matches cause of people trolling them and lead to hard times in new eden.
Having tried so hard to bring in friends and watching them quickly stop coming back, frustrated from going 1/20 with 2 assists and sitting at the bottom of the leaderboard every time is why I have stopped trying to bring people in.
For now I am just enjoying the game and hoping it gets fixed before the server gets the power cable pulled.
Until CCP gives up their PC gamer ideology and gets some experts on console gamers the downward spiral will continue.

Exactly. All except one person I referred stuck with Dust. The others all left. I almost invited a dude the other day, and then I thought hard about what it was I was giving my stamp of approval on.

I think this is the crux of several issues. The large chunk of FPS games out there have a lot of transferable skills and don't require the SP commitment in such a comprehensive way that Dust does. This creates serious perception challenges for players that have little to no understanding of the EVE universe and the gameplay consistencies that govern how CCP approaches things.
For what it's worth, this IS a large part of what makes Dust different and is a huge strength but also can be a serious weakness if not carefully monitored.
No really good solutions to this problem. I do think some PVE and a more indepth playable tutorial would help but that won't alleviate protostomping. On that point, it's not even really proto-stomping - the differences in weapon / equipment differences is so marginal that core skills and weapon skills are the deciding factor (as it should be). I'm actually starting to lean to tiericide camp or at least more closely align with the Tech Levels of EVE because of this. |

I have been playing planetside 2 when my notebook don't over heat, but its not good enough for that beat,
Planetside has a good player base and their Devs listen to the base & help them along.
They have plenty of equal weapons countering each other, lots of vehicles, and open world player controlled so no proto stomping
And unlike here you can't buy victory although cash will get you plenty of cool camo's for your weapons, ships, tanks, and armor.
Plus they don't have any disrespectful chump CPM's trash talking its player base which is all more then i can say for this garbage.
I am saving up for a ps4 just gotta wait till i can get one at a reasonable price. I play this game solely because i like playing with humans and CoD has gotten old.
I do agree with yall if you got the machine to do it go planetside 2 & you'll find a welcome fair place to play even as a free player |

The retention of new players is pretty bad. I've tried to get three of my friends to play and guess how many have played more than 10 matches?
Zero.
I even had a buddy log on with 6 mil of SP to blow, I helped him skill his character and talked it up, he played two games, got pubstomped, orbitaled three times, and hasn't logged back in since.
"Hey want to try playng dust again with me?"
"Nah"
When I can't even get a friend to play with me, i'm constantly running solo and facing off against proto squads who win matches 65-0. I honestly don't have enough free time or SP to play in a PC corp, So for the players like me who just want to log on and play casual for an hour and log off, public matchmaking is the only option and the matches are so consistently one-sided I find my motivation to play dwindling every day.
Why not use squadfinder to play with people?
Pubstomping kills squadfinder; casuals who join squads via squadfinder get frustrated and leave after getting pubstomped, which seems to be happening every other game. Casual squads disband after being pubstomped and no meaningful interactions occur.
I'm not expecting every game to be fair, and I don't mind being beaten by more skilled players but the problem is getting so consistently one-sided that it must be addressed.
Some quick ideas that many other have mentioned:
- Parse matchmaking into tiers. Pub should be more restrictive where faction and up will be less restrictive.
- Limit or disable squads in pub. I would actually be okay with limiting squads to TWO people so that you can still play with a friend.
- Eliminate proto suits from pub. Advanced is fine, and I don't even mind a few proto mods/equipment. Full proto is too OP for pubs. |

Best way to solve proto stomping is flank and take enemies home letter. Wait for them to counter hack use sub-machine gun then swap to AR. proto stomper solved. I use DREN C/1 all the time for this. I may die a lot but the enemies death is more costly. |

Okay, you can do this with 5, 10, 20, 30 mil SP but a new player cannot. They just die, get frustrated and leave forever for greener pastures. |

I'd rather be pub stomped by a squad of adv who can actually play than a sqd of protos relying on a crutch. At least I know I am not going to have to waste all my isk to beat them, I only need to make more friends to get a good squad together. |
