Not foolproof of course, but something like that could drastically cut down the number of alt votes you'd see ottherwise. Tracking IP's isn't reliable.

I'm not technically inclined so I have no idea how that works, but if there was a way to identify my system as unique and mine, then I would be forced to go out and buy a whole new system and play an alt into an active state just to get another set of votes.

Right. I haven't seen those posts from them, or what thread they were posting on so I can't comment.
About the matchmaking though, it's a little more complicated than "FIx tHA matHCHmaking pls!!!11!1" and then it magically gets done. CCP has dug themselves into a hole where there are simply too many variables and (most importantly) not enough players.
The solutions to the matchmaking issues are obvious, however, unless you want to wait 5 minutes to get into a lobby with only 3 guys on the enemy team, we aren't going to get any significant matchmaking fixes until the player base increases. |

It's a catch 22 situation because the matchmaking is the reason player retention is so poor which stops the player base increasing which in turns means that it's hard to fix matchmaking/the current matchmaking system to work properly ....
Looking at the server and player stats they are all on the decline over the past 6 months. obviously there are peaks and troughs but the general trend is downwards
This isn't me saying the game is dying, it's just clear that the numbers aren't increasing which means we can't wait around in the hope the player numbers increase because it simply isn't happening
I really really want this game to succeed and become everything CCP envisioned it could become
Maybe PVE is the answer, maybe meta level gamemodes is the answer but we all agree anythign is better than what we have right now xD

Of the current CPM's I've made no secret that Heinrich Jagerblitzen is my favorite, and I follow his blog quite often. I doubt he is running again which is really unfortunate.
I've heard rumours of some people maybe running , like DSTheDrunkHeavy and if the CPM are not picked by CCP I'm excited to see who runs. At this point, I feel the current CPM has busted their butt but it may be time for a breathe of fresh air.
At one point I had alot of people saying they wanted me to run but I'm not comfortable(right now) with having my real information available to the public. We shall see as DUST is my favorite game regardless of its issues.

I'm interested in making this game better and through that increase the game's playerbase - to have healthy large base of dusters to play with!
If CPM members would be able to contribute into that and if there would be CPM elections, I would consider running.
I'm interested in particular: - New player experience - Market - Reaching a great gameplay balance before introducing too many elements into the mix - Enough variation in the game modes, maps and map infra in order to avoid repetition in gameplay - Introducing 'thousand papercut' program for Dust devs: will to tackle those hundreds of easily fixable minor issues which tend to stack up and make our lives miserable on the whole - Making sure devs and CCP lead will at least give an ear to valid criticiscm
And those who have followed my posts might agree that I try to see both sides of the coin as things are rarely black and white.

Dunno. It's definitely an attractive option but I like most ppl just would not be able to commit enough time. I would love to have a way to influence how things are developed but lets face it - it's not in the best interest of the community to have ppl around on CPM who are not hard core 'second job' type of players and know the game in and out. We want knowledgeable ppl with expertise representing us who really understand issues in the game, not some 'politicians' who are on CPM just for their own promotion. |

I think a big aspect of being a potential CPM member is having a healthy stomach for abuse, as many people have misguided notions about what the CPM is and does, for many different reasons. One thing is certain though, plenty of hate gets slung at the CPM, for basically no legitimate reason at all. So, being able to read that, day after day, and either ignore it, or respond to any valid points made within their cesspool of words; that's an admirable trait, and I think very important for a CPM members longevity. Otherwise, the mental and emotional strain might make the position not worth it overall.
On the other hand, that's why we that wish to be seen as a community, need to have level heads and treat our CPM, each other, and CPP; respectfully, and intelligently. We need to step back and look at the whole picture objectively, remembering that we're all people (except Cat Merc, anyways) and we have a responsibility to ourselves to shape the way we perceive others, so that they may perceive us in similar fashion.

Types of Commitments Time For the americas the meetings are about 2 am in the morning
Europe about 8 am
Auzzies and asians about lunch time
All on work days
Type of work Expected Turn Around on subject brought up by CCP about 24-48 hours, sometimes even less on very hot button topics. Meeting agendas are about a week long process before the meeting leaving plenty of time for research allowing you have a nice big stack of notes and unfortunately only one hour to talk about it.
Being in the current know of player issues to a various degree, or being able to comprehend and sympathize with player issues that are not shared by the general base, for example lag in PC battles.
Start to understand CCPs development process, work around and work with it, there are times you can shove a wedge in but knowing where is critically important. For example complaining about a feature already locked for 1.7 is not going to change it for 1.7 so you need to move onto options after 1.7 such as is it hotfixable? is there a hotfix bandaid option possible?
Help developers on wording of some posts, we know that developers don't make the best public speakers, classic public known example; "Your BPOs are not safe." There have been a few dozen times developers wanted to post information and passed it to the cpm real quick and the cpm saw similar like statements
Important Traits to have as a CPM Passion for both game and community - because quitting during that time is asking to get thrown under the bus :P.
Excellent communication skills - More so on being able to approach people, and get the information you're seeking.
Somewhat thicker skin - there will be people that will not like you and they will do their best to make it known.
Maturity - As in control of one's own responses, emotions, and opinions.
Approachable - you need to have this to some degree, if you bit everyone's heads off that ever comes to you, you're not representing.
Compromising - being able to let go your own side for betterment of the game.
Diplomatic - In the sense of saying the meanest things in the nicest ways.
The Baggage Things not to bring into the CPM Drama - Its not needed here ever, it detracts from working with CCP on things.
Your old allegiances - See Drama.
Angst and Irate atmospheres - The idea is to get ccp talk to you often, acting like an ******* to **** the developers off is counter productive in the CPM so doing things to annoy the crap out of the developers such as circular logic, ad hominem, and many other fallacies people employ to elevate blood pressure. These is not the same as being critical, negative, and saying no.
A Hallow Stone Wall - being a hardline on something for no good reason isn't healthy for debates either you need to have very good solid reasons as to why you're on that position should a topic of that nature show up.
[*] Your KDR - nobody honestly cares how good you are with an weapon x here, its more about how to nerf the damn thing when its obvious you are far far far from alone on that type of KDR on the same weapon.

I've begun to consider the idea of running for CPM when it comes up. Whether I run or not I do feel strongly that the next evolution of the CPM should have a cross section of experience levels which will give some different perspective to the internal workings of the CPM, their interaction with CCP, and more importantly the community. My opinion, for what it's worth, is that I want experienced players on the CPM that don't have axes to grind and can see the perspective of different facets of the player base and work in a positive and realistic fashion with CCP.
I'm sitting at 14mil SP, not a new player and not closed Beta guy. I'm an average player that invests consistent time and occasionally money and I'm genuinely enjoying the game and particularly the Dust/EVE community...yes, event this forum.
In terms of the the things I would like to see the CPM focus discussion with CCP on are NPE and player retention, developing the EVE / Dust linkage (which is what truly sets this game apart from any other FPS), and injecting some additional diversity in gameplay modes, contracts, and events. Probably goes without saying but I'm pretty sure we are all looking for full racial kits and additional options that deepen the game play. |

I'm interested in being on the CPM. I like this game. A lot. I want the game to thrive. I've been a Scout since closed beta, but Uprising screwed me over. It made me slower, took away a module slot, took away the type-II version, reduced melee damage by 100 point, until 1.6 shotgun was unreliable at best. The sniper Rifle cannot keep up with the increase HP between the teirs. So I expanded. I've got a ADV Cal Logi (skilled into after the "nerf" btw), I'm 4 days from my proto Gallente Logi. Next SP investment is an Assault suit . Assault Rifle is the only weapon I don't have any points inm but I have 4 alts in the 4 Assault suits, 3 skilled into AR.
And a heavy alt.
I've been in a lot of leadership roles in my time, a few committees, and am familiar with NDAs.

NPE there is a chance of but you have to understand most of this is in Game Development's hands, we're still waiting on execution on a few backlogged suggestions and only repeat the long list of wants when asked for instead of wasting time in other meetings repeating the subject.
Market we recently had a fruitful discussion with and to great extent so far has been very wonderful on the progress we're making with them so far. Expect some changes in values.
Game Balance identification and turn around (the time from knowing its out of balance to time of fix) is something the CPM has continued to stress upon and wished that CCP had staffing on the team responsible to handle the wanted workload. I am not sure how long or what it would take to fix it, but the CPM and community has expressed it pretty clearly. There are some plans to help alleviate balance issues as they appear on newer items but as for fixing things that are major systems such as TTK environment eats up a significant amount of time away from future features as well.
Game modes has been something the CPM has been asking for as well but with the roadmap focusing on core, the new game modes were set aside.
Thousand Paper-cuts you say? This could be an opportunity by a prospective CPM candidate to start up and run, after all the eve online thousand paper cuts was and still ran by a regular non csm member. I used to be able to do them but with my time in college and CPM now having a back log I can no longer maintain such list.
CPM has been stressing this as well, and its beginning to look serious on CCP's end with the new EP pushing things around, for example the new gun stats and vehicle stats that came out.

I probably don't have a lot of support behind me, but you can be sure that I would be neutral in all circumstances, which is probably one of the best reasons for me to be on the CPM.
I don't want to be someone that can sway CCP to do things in order to buff/nerf things that I currently use/don't use. I represent my points with facts and I base my opinions off of them, instead of just having some sort of opinion with nothing to back it up.
I'm also a very active member in terms of both playing and the forums, and I am not in any corp nor do I support one corp or the other. Like I said before I am completely neutral.
As a CPM I'd like to help improve the forums and the structure of how we communicate with CCP. As of right now the forums are a giant mess and topics will come and go within days. That is why I have created the List of Most Important Threads which you can find in my signature down below. This helps preserve some of the things that CCP still needs to fix, or just important threads in general that should be saved for safe keeping.
As for gameplay, the most important thing to me is the NPE (new player experience). I feel that the direction CCP has taken the NPE is completely the opposite of what they should be doing, and that we need some sort of system that makes the game feel easier and less complicated to get into. For instance, some sort of way to buy pre-fitted dropsuits that have a list of skills that they require. As you gain skill points you can see how far along you are in terms of buying the next skill needed for that fitting. Once you have all of the needed skills you can start buying those dropsuits, and figure out the next dropsuit setup you want to save up skill points for. Also, new players need to be able to experience more weapons/suits in the beginning besides the AR and medium suits.
Along with my list of most important threads, I would make sure to stay in constant communication with our playerbase. This is what I feel to be the main job of the CPM. I want to be someone that can find the gems in the huge mess that is the forums in order to keep a record of even the littlest of things that might be worth mentioning to CCP. I want to make sure that the people playing this game providing feedback are being heard and not ignored. I want to be the person that can organize discussions on certain feedback that CCP would like to hear.
And on top of it all, I have a recording device and a youtube channel that would be used as another medium to keep our playerbase updated and in the know.
