I haven't seen a thread like this in a while, and I'm just curious. I know elections are still a long ways away, but I'm just wondering who among us actually wants to take up that mantle?

I know that at some point in the future, I would like to run for the council, though right now I would be a bad fit because of RL stuff, so I won't be running in the first election. The last thing I want is to be a drain on the CPM, which is why I'll be waiting.

That said, I know there are a number of you who would make great candidates, and I just wanted to make this thread so we can get a better idea of who's still interested in the position, and why.

IWS is a CCP apologist/cheerleader (although, he did call out CCP on the TTK debacle ).

I've seen Kaine Spero, Nova Knife and Laz (that french guy, whatever his name is) make very good, level headed posts.

Right. I haven't seen those posts from them, or what thread they were posting on so I can't comment.

About the matchmaking though, it's a little more complicated than "FIx tHA matHCHmaking pls!!!11!1" and then it magically gets done. CCP has dug themselves into a hole where there are simply too many variables and (most importantly) not enough players.

The solutions to the matchmaking issues are obvious, however, unless you want to wait 5 minutes to get into a lobby with only 3 guys on the enemy team, we aren't going to get any significant matchmaking fixes until the player base increases.

I think a big aspect of being a potential CPM member is having a healthy stomach for abuse, as many people have misguided notions about what the CPM is and does, for many different reasons. One thing is certain though, plenty of hate gets slung at the CPM, for basically no legitimate reason at all. So, being able to read that, day after day, and either ignore it, or respond to any valid points made within their cesspool of words; that's an admirable trait, and I think very important for a CPM members longevity. Otherwise, the mental and emotional strain might make the position not worth it overall.

On the other hand, that's why we that wish to be seen as a community, need to have level heads and treat our CPM, each other, and CPP; respectfully, and intelligently. We need to step back and look at the whole picture objectively, remembering that we're all people (except Cat Merc, anyways) and we have a responsibility to ourselves to shape the way we perceive others, so that they may perceive us in similar fashion.

CPM is not responsible for any sorts of balancing.
CCP Team Kong does that work, and they're far better armed at it because they have the entire player base generating numbers.

Also time and time again Pro (specialist type) players have proven to me they are more than capable of overlooking pain points often because it doesn't affect them or they're ignorant such options exist. (top of the world blindness)

Now on the other hand players who say run PC battles often, have to organize and devise tactics are the type of pro players that would be more useful as they are going to be more familiar with the stupid and smart things players do and things that are just to easy to press button to get bacon. These sorts are also quickest to adapt if you take away their favorite toy (where the other type would throw a hissy fit and refuse to adapt.)
