I know that at some point in the future, I would like to run for the council, though right now I would be a bad fit because of RL stuff, so I won't be running in the first election. The last thing I want is to be a drain on the CPM, which is why I'll be waiting.
That said, I know there are a number of you who would make great candidates, and I just wanted to make this thread so we can get a better idea of who's still interested in the position, and why.
Remove all the current CPM's apart from Iron Wolf
I have still yet to see a single constructive post made by any of the other CPM's who simply abuse their position and don't actually forward any of the player feedback onto CCP

I've seen Kaine Spero, Nova Knife and Laz (that french guy, whatever his name is) make very good, level headed posts.
I've seen alot of troll posts from them and just genuinely ignorant responses like 'No' to certain ideas ... unless it's something they agree with they wont put it forward even if the majority ask for it
Just listened to a podcast from the CPM's and their is no mention about the broken matchmaking system .. I mean seriously that is ridiculous, everyone can see it's broken apart from them yet they think CCP selling suit skins is more important ... facepalm

I haven't seen those posts from them, or what thread they were posting on so I can't comment. About the matchmaking though, it's a little more complicated than "FIx tHA matHCHmaking pls!!!11!1" and then it magically gets done. CCP has dug themselves into a hole where there are simply too many variables and (most importantly) not enough players. The solutions to the matchmaking issues are obvious, however, unless you want to wait 5 minutes to get into a lobby with only 3 guys on the enemy team, we aren't going to get any significant matchmaking fixes until the player base increases.
It's a catch 22 situation because the matchmaking is the reason player retention is so poor which stops the player base increasing which in turns means that it's hard to fix matchmaking/the current matchmaking system to work properly ....
Looking at the server and player stats they are all on the decline over the past 6 months. obviously there are peaks and troughs but the general trend is downwards
This isn't me saying the game is dying, it's just clear that the numbers aren't increasing which means we can't wait around in the hope the player numbers increase because it simply isn't happening
I really really want this game to succeed and become everything CCP envisioned it could become
Maybe PVE is the answer, maybe meta level gamemodes is the answer but we all agree anythign is better than what we have right now xD

DUST Fiend wrote:I think a big aspect of being a potential CPM member is having a healthy stomach for abuse, as many people have misguided notions about what the CPM is and does, for many different reasons. One thing is certain though, plenty of hate gets slung at the CPM, for basically no legitimate reason at all. So, being able to read that, day after day, and either ignore it, or respond to any valid points made within their cesspool of words; that's an admirable trait, and I think very important for a CPM members longevity. Otherwise, the mental and emotional strain might make the position not worth it overall.
On the other hand, that's why we that wish to be seen as a community, need to have level heads and treat our CPM, each other, and CPP; respectfully, and intelligently. We need to step back and look at the whole picture objectively, remembering that we're all people (except Cat Merc, anyways) and we have a responsibility to ourselves to shape the way we perceive others, so that they may perceive us in similar fashion.
We didn't vote for the CPM's, they are merely pawns of CCP
Clearly with all the issues this game has right now they aren't doing a very good job and I can cite countless examples of unproductive posts from certain CPM's on threads and ideas that were good yet because the CPM's didn't agree they simply said .. no .. which begs the question .. do they actually forward on our ideas and problems to CCP or just forward the ones that affect them ?
The simple fact is that if we had voted for them as our voices then there would be an instant degree of trust that the things they were putting forward were the things that concern us the most
It seems to me the current CPM's know full well that they have their positions on the order of CCP and therefore wont say anything that harms their position, I mean who in their right mind would allow things like matchmaking and TTK to end up as broken as they are right now ? They tread softly softly around the real issues instead of actually saying .. look, this is gamebreaking and needs fixing ASAP
There is far too much talking about what they will do in the future (soon tm) and not enough action and i'm sorry but after 6 months + of this the current CPM's need replacing because they aren't doing their jobs properly
This may sound harsh but now there has been a change at CCP we need a change of CPM's as well, let's have a fresh start

Iron Wolf Saber wrote:THEAMAZING POTHEAD wrote:I'd vote for sota, we need someone on CPM who doesn't have the view of a scrub. In other words A GOOD player often has different, more educated opinions on video games. Having someone whose participated in PC, has played the game a buttload, and knows how to r@pe is whats needed.
That way they have better views on balance, priorities of what keeps the game fresh, and so on. For instance, its pretty much common knowledge the game needs a respec SOON(most would agree on doing it when racials are brought out[2.0?]) yet only kain spero is really in favor of respecs. Funny Story, CPM is not responsible for any sorts of balancing. CCP Team Kong does that work, and they're far better armed at it because they have the entire player base generating numbers. Also time and time again Pro (specialist type) players have proven to me they are more than capable of overlooking pain points often because it doesn't affect them or they're ignorant such options exist. (top of the world blindness) Now on the other hand players who say run PC battles often, have to organize and devise tactics are the type of pro players that would be more useful as they are going to be more familiar with the stupid and smart things players do and things that are just to easy to press button to get bacon. These sorts are also quickest to adapt if you take away their favorite toy (where the other type would throw a hissy fit and refuse to adapt.)
Certain CPM's are guilty of what you speak of anyway .. I'm looking at you Mr What the French CPM Cadezeron or whatever his name is, not accepting that there is a problem with matchmaking and protostomping in pubgames because his corp constantly does it .. how surprising lol
I've already said that it's about time all of the current CPM's did the right thing and stepped down, we've had enough of your incompetence and we didn't vote for you so we will never trust that you have all of our interests at heart and based on the game as it is now .. it honestly doesn't seem that you do
I think I saw someone use the 'Old boys club' quote and it is a very apt summary of the current CPM's and based on this thread .. there is alot of discontent and disillusionment with the job the current CPM's are doing ..
'Having a voice that doesn't listen to you and just says what it wants to say is not a voice you want speaking on your behalf'
