With assault rifles as they stand anyways, at the proto level vs. similar tiered opposite weaponry, the Single Shot Scrambler Rifle is far more deadly than the normal one. Even if its more effective vs shields than armor, and the assault rifle vice versa, With a base damage above 70 per shot compared to the Duvolle's 37.4, That thing still puts out more damage than the damage modded plus Prof. V assault rifle, I wouldn't be surprised if that were still true when it comes to the Balac's Gar Officers AR. Ive run the math on my own Duvolle with mods.
Duvolle Assault Rifle: 37.4 Dam per Shot 1 Enhanced Damage mod. 5% Prof III for 9% 14% total.
That rounds out to 43 damage per shot
With full Prof and complex mods
15% to Prof V 2 Complex for 16% ((?)) 31% total
That rounds out to 49 Dam per Shot.
That's still a big gap even if we say Scramblers are at 72 dam per shot Not to mention when we have players who have great aim and a good trigger finger to boot. The only drawback to not firing fast for them would be the heatbuild up or even feedback damage if they get overzealous.
Any decent player who works with this in mind can still be able to not crosh that threshold easily, they will watch their finger and their aim and make their shots count.
Even with the penalty to armor, that still puts AR's at a high disadvantage when it comes to fighting against a SR. not to mention the SR is more accurate than the Assault because there is no recoil from continuous fire, none that I have experienced myself anyways when I tried out the SR.

Pretty much every weapon and suit is balanced at standard, it's the bonuses and slot layout that pushes some things into the OP territory.

Yes starter fits should have their racial weapon variant and be introduced to some of the racial combat philosophy. However you have to remember not only do militia variants have a lower clip size but they come with an increased cpu/pg cost compared to the standard variant. I think depending on the weapon some suits may not have the cpu/pg resource to be able to wield them in the starter fit. Remember new players wont have any SP invested into core skills, could potentially create a cpu/pg bump to all suits and tiers.

I'd also like a militia variant of the laser rifle and mass driver. Don't see why there is a problem with having them.

You're talking about the Plasma Cannon? You are talking about the Plasma Cannon. It isn't AV. Read the description, it says Anti-Infantry. It's not fast guided because it's CQC. So, this post is on life support. Lets bring it back, it makes too much sense to euthanize. Personally would like to see frontline/medic/AV/sniper militia fits of all races available to everyone regardless of race. You will be able to get a taste of a variety of weapons right away as a new player and would improve the experience.
That would be alot of fits, so call them Frontline - A/C/G/M and introduce customizable folders into the fitting menu.
Again, this is a must.

Agreed. But it stands to reason that any racial specific technology would be designed by/for that race. As such, all racial weapons should be *slightly* easier to use by said race, making racial suit/eqyipment/weapon optimization easier. |

No SP should be pre spent for any character. No race should give have an inherent bonus. If an optional tutorial wants to guide a character by giving them free books towards a particular race or weapon that's fine.
All we need are the free starter suits that are unique to every race already have unique weapons as well.
