It was great running missions with you Titus! Q'syncing 2 or even 3 squads together is a lot of fun, and having pilots in orbit makes victory even sweeter. There's something so comforting about looking up and seeing the blue box floating over the map. the changes we make in FW space are small, but soon there's going to be an avalanche of activity and districts changing ownership, I can tell.

Perhaps as an alternative the pilots could have an option on their menus when in system, as well as being able to warp to district they can "establish comm up-link" which will connect them to the team chat for the relevant district battle. This would enable the pilot to stay in direct contact with the ground teams so when they are going to require OB support he can warp to the district and safely warp away when not needed.
Another option would be to allow pilots to search for team channels by inputting the planet and district designation into channel finder, allowing them to be in contact as they are traveling to the site.
As a final note, during one session we had 4 squads split between two planets in the same system with one strike ship in system for support, which again can present its only problems for easy communication.
We used a central channel which included the pilot and the primary squad, while other squads used either squad chat or team chat under their own preference, then whenever a strike became available the squad leader would switch to the central channel and request support, the pilot would then move to the appropriate location and deliver the strike. Though this may sound awkward to some, it worked flawlessly with all squads being able to deliver their strikes within a minute of being requested on both planets.
I hope this information is helpful to dev teams and other players With the new orbital mechanics the EVE pilot will need to stay sitting directly on the satellite to unlock the strike. That's the whole point, we want their ship to be at risk.
putting the strike ship at risk when eve pilots already don't give a flying pig about dust is a poor mechanic...
if you want to entice eve players to participate in our matches then you need to give them incentive to do so...
more so if you expect a fleet to protect the strike ship you need to give an eve corp incentive to do so...
thus far you barely give us an incentive to play.... |

I hope this information is helpful to dev teams and other players It did work surprisingly well and to be honest, being one of those squad leaders and having to facilitate the logistics added to the immersion and excitement. It was difficult, but worth it.
Might be nice to as you are saying, have a pilot in the system and be able to "check in" on the various teams in to see if they are ready for a strike and then the pilot can move into position. I am not an eve player but is it easier for a pilot/PC to switch comms rather than a FPSer?

Another suggestion i just remembered, perhaps EMP strikes can penetrate terrain, while the fact that they eliminate shields and equipment of any exposed enemies is useful to a degree, why would one not just drop a hybrid strike to kill all enemies and destroy equipment. Perhaps if an EMP strike penetrated terrain it could be used as tool to facilitate storming structures and built up areas, zap all equipment and shields and everyone runs in to clean up.
Though maybe against Gallente, not so useful... |

I called in my first strike from EVE...and got zero kills, it was a blind shot in the redline as we were crushing it. Next strike took out 5 guys and did 12,000 damage on the CRU, or so I was told. Called in about 5 strikes total from EVE side. It was a lot of fun just switching chat channels to where the EVE guys were waiting and I would say, "Titus ready for OB", and then they would lock on the district and then boom booms would come from the sky (they looked cool, different than the Warbarge strikes, I think we called in lasers) Yeah for you! All the while the people on the other side were probably having the worst experience of their time on DUST. Because you see while pushing them back behind the redline and then OBing them to oblivion was fun for you it must have been extremely frustrating for them. Maybe even to the point of making them want to quit this game for good. But hey at least you had fun, right? Pffff, CCP needs to fix this kinda of crap.
Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. I can't even tell how often Caldari were pushed back behind the redline against Gallente. How do you want to fix a q-synced team with Eve support? People playing together are in every game. And they always are a pain in the ass for the other team. |

Last night I decided to run some Caldari FW, did well, got invited to Caldari FW chat channel. I didn't think much of it at the time.
Tonight, things really opened up. It started with 2 squads Qsyncing, then 3, then 4 and then 5! We had 5 squads Qsyncing for Caldari and we had EVE support for our OBs. It was amazingly fun.

Last night was a blast again! I hope there would be a way to send thanks to those eve pilots that helped us last night in Caldari Hierarchy!
Few really good and close games! Even lag and some "spy" who said he was helping reds by telling our positions did not put us down.
Hope to see you people again tonight!
