It's where DUST was operating through a lot of it's closed beta phase. And where they do a majority of tests for EVE online, and probably now DUST aswell. |

All of this was pushed back beyond 1.6, as confirmed by CCP.

Yeh, it's all speculation really. Can never really judge how something is going to work from the descriptions.
A long long time ago when they first put the 'Shock' Assault and 'Hunter' Scout featured fits on Sisi I freaked out with glee thinking they were specialized suits with bonuses and what not based solely on their descriptions.
Could I have been more wrong. |

I meant they were vague about new weapons when they hinted at them for 1.6 before they were pushed back. People had the range/damage profile dev blog from awhile back with names, etc. - and so anything unreleased from that was probably fair game in those people's mind.
Like I said, I would've assume the missing pistols/rifles as a conservative estimate since we had commentary about those at fanfest. The Amarr Heavy weapon, etc. that were TBAs in the range profile seemed less likely to me.
Having just the two rifles is something of a let down, if that winds up being the case. Of course, they were already pushed from 1.6, so the disappointment is already flow-y.
We've had side comments from Devs about the Gallente Heavy looking cool in the past month, but they've been playing with the Combat/Rail rifles since before fanfest. It's frustrating to see them take so long to materialize.

Makes sense though, balance from your mid-ground out rather than trying to fit a square into a circle. This way they can balance around the mainstay weapon of each race. They should have started with this, lol. |

After they were pushed back he also said it was possible that other weapons would be introduced together with the two Rifles at the now later date, but that nothing was planned at the time. |

They never said such. They said that the other races rifles would do one variation better than the others.
An example is that you will likely never see an assault variant of the plasma rifle because it is the premier assault variant out of the four race's rifles in terms of normalized engagement range, combat approach, and damage. |

They could go insane with CR/RR fittings. But right now the plain Scrambler has the highest PG reqs of any regular weapon in the game. |

Not quite Wolfy-boy, the Assault variant of the Blaster Rifle, currently named the Assault Rifle, is going to be the shortest ranged, highest damaged, most ganky-scouty combat role of them all, not the 'normalized' median. If anything the Combat Rifle will be a nice median as that is the role of the Projectile weapon; namely jack of all master of none. It's the one weapon I'm looking forward to to go with my Minmatar-iness. If we do get a respec, oh well. If not, I have enough SP saved to V out Ops. |

Not one to back IWS up but damn your reading comprehension lacks, its been said many times that Assault Rifle/Plasma Rifle is going to be the best of the full auto rifles and the other variants are just imitations of the other races specialties Just like the Scram Rifle is better than the TAC while the ASCR isnt as good as the AR we have had for a while now The combat rifle you are looking forward to so much is essentially going to be a burst rifle that doesnt suck in its primary form |

No, the assault rifles are gallente make up. Combat rifles should be minmatar, and rail rifles should be caldari.
Each different "version" of the assault rifle is gallente's attempt at mimicking the other nations weaponry. Breach rifle is trying to compete in close range against the rail rifle. tact rifle is trying to compete with the LR. Assault rifle is trying to compete with the CR. So basically the "jack of all trades but master of none"

Breach AR is Gallente's attempt at trying to mimic high damage low ROF of the rail rifle. Those are the defining characteristics of "breach," not low range. The low range is because Gallente, the actual rail rifle will be high range (relatively).
The tactical rifle is the Gallente's attempt at tying to mimic the scrambler rifle, not the laser rifle. The laser rifle is not even part of the "frontline rifles" class of weapons.
The normal assault rifle is actually Gallente's thing, "assault." Low damage, high rate of fire.
The closet thing we have to the combat rifle is the burst assault rifle. |

Each race will get one of that class, so each class has 4 weapons. The main weapon class is what I call "frontline rifles" but CCP may call something else. This is each nation's standard grade rifle. They are the Gallente Assault Rifle (probably get renamed), Combat Rifle, Rail Rifle, and Scrambler Rifle.
Another weapon class that we know the full set of is the pistol weapon class, which contains the Amarr Scrambler Pistol, Minmatar Flaylock Pistol, Gallente Ion Pistol, Caldari Bolt Pistol.
There is also a submachine gun weapon class of which we only know two so far, the Minmatar SMG (probably get renamed) and Caldari Magsec SMG. Amarr and Gallente TBA.
There's a light AV weapon class of which we know two, Caldari Swarm Launcher and Gallente Plasma Cannon. Amarr and Minmatar TBA.
There is a sniper rifle weapon class of which we know two, Caldari Sniper Rifle (again, probably get renamed) and Minmatar Precision Rifle. Amarr and Gallente TBA.
And then there's the knife class, shotgun class, etc. The Laser Rifle I am not too sure of what class it is (and I'll admit when I don't know something), but I know it is definitely not in any of the previously mentioned classes. My guess is it's part of a Special/Support weapon class along with the Minmatar Mass Driver and Caldari and Gallente versions TBA.
