I would also like to point out that, based on the descriptions, one can speculate that the Combat Rifle is semi-automatic and the Rail Rifle is fully automatic.
I'd say the former is burst, and the latter is slow automatic if anything.
Both weapons have separate "assault" variants listed. I'd assume it takes the combat rifle and makes is full-auto, and takes the rail and makes it fire faster. Otherwise, what are we guessing the "assault" variants would do? Within their "variant" framework they seem to have give the guns full-auto versions to start if nothing else so people can have that comforting Gallente AR feel with some variant of the weapon. |

They were vague about "new weapons". Two weapons is the minimum they can add and have the plural be accurate. It's possible people thought all sorts of new things were coming in 1.6, and even conservative estimates might have been "the two rifles and two pistols."
So... I can see people being annoyed.
I'd personally prefer missing suits to guns in a way, because the time and build considerations for suits are much much higher than they are for new weapons. Heavies are somewhat more... lacking than guns as well. |

Heavies are somewhat more... lacking than guns as well. But they never mentioned anything on the board at Fanfest 2013 - so why assume that they magically came up with something when they already had concepts fleshed out?
I meant they were vague about new weapons when they hinted at them for 1.6 before they were pushed back. People had the range/damage profile dev blog from awhile back with names, etc. - and so anything unreleased from that was probably fair game in those people's mind.
Like I said, I would've assume the missing pistols/rifles as a conservative estimate since we had commentary about those at fanfest. The Amarr Heavy weapon, etc. that were TBAs in the range profile seemed less likely to me.
Having just the two rifles is something of a let down, if that winds up being the case. Of course, they were already pushed from 1.6, so the disappointment is already flow-y.
We've had side comments from Devs about the Gallente Heavy looking cool in the past month, but they've been playing with the Combat/Rail rifles since before fanfest. It's frustrating to see them take so long to materialize.

I guess most likely the Lv4 CR, hopefully with reduced fittings that can go well with my scout. SR or CR - decisions decisions. CCP - dont mess around Well, if you want something with low fitting requirements, Scramblers are most definitely NOT the way to go
They could go insane with CR/RR fittings. But right now the plain Scrambler has the highest PG reqs of any regular weapon in the game. |
