Had another thread on the subject but it got locked from inactivity, so I'm making this new one. I'll keep it shorter this time. I want this game to feel more immersive.
HUD boot-up when we spawn. The various HUD elements should turn like 1.5 seconds after you spawn.
Let us see our legs when we look down. Not only does it make sense that we would be able to see our legs, but would also be useful for being able to judge at what point we will fall off a ledge.
HUD wobble like back in the closed beta http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tt0_dWSyVKI (I miss the old battle song).
Head-shot damage visual distortion effects. Sensors & cameras for vision are located in helmet, so when shields are down and you are hit by headshot, the cameras' vision should be effected.
Blur and ear-ringing effect from experiencing large explosions (like vehicle explosions) from close distance. The blur and tinnitus effects are already one of countless promised features promised in the feedback/requests weekly updates thread. https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=425608#post425608 ; we were promised this back in November 2012. Great suggestions, as always. I'd like to add meatier visual effects when small arms fire hits the terrain close around; dust sprays, sparks and ricochets when they hit metallic surfaces, chunks of a wall being blown off and spraying your visor with debris for a fraction of a second before your visor burns it off with the suit-incorporated laser wipe. |

I love it all, though I think asking for more graphics assets at this point is a tough request. Especially with the PS3's limits in terms of how much they can pack in, I'm not sure if they'd want to do racial HUDs and holograms at this time.
With regards to legs, that might be, in part, an engine concern, I don't think Unreal 3-based games generally show your own characters' legs, but I could be wrong. |

Resistance 2 had some great explosions/sound/visual effects for the player. My favorite one was how the sound muffled out when a huge explosion renders you almost deaf. That feeling makes you get the heck out of wherever you are.
Also, MOTION BLUR!
The biggest change from Resistance 2 to Resistance 3 was how pretty everything looked as you were running around. Dashing through the map as it's snowing and having the scenery around you look so realistic as if you were actually there...that's the kind of stuff I'd like to see.
Weather would probably be the one thing I'd like more than anything else though, and if it could affect the HUD at all that would be even better. Things like snow falling and the edges of your HUD being partially "chilled", or a dust cloud rolling in that made it hard to see other players from long range (but great for sneaky scouts). Heck, even a really dark map with bright stadium lights keeping certain parts of the map lit up, while the rest is almost pitch black.
My favorite game of all time that immersed me more than anything else like this was Metroid Prime. When you walked through a steam vent your vision would be totally obscured, getting hit by bugs that exploded caused your mask to be covered in goo, the underwater levels made it hard to see very far, as well as transverse (until you got the upgrade of course), and the best part...when something bright flashed in front of your face, you could actually see Samus' eyes reflecting back on the screen. |

The old school combat song! I like the new one more, but I would still like the old song to be in game. HUD wobble!! The distortion effect when the forge gun explodes near you! The old school electronic sight for the assault rifle! Spectate Cam! (that really should be integrated into our games some how.) USEFUL Railgun tanks that can fight at close range!
Oh yeah, all your suggestions were really good too.

I want the immersion to be better as well.
Weather and Atmosphere I would like actual weather effects. Not just retextures and fog. Give us rainfall, from a light drizzle to torrential downpours. Give us snow, from a slight frost to a heavy blizzard. Give us debris fields, as tanks and dropships explode, and as orbital strikes happen, we should see the sky darken and embers and ash should start flowing through the air like during the Caldair Prime event. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJhiOzNc1Jg
Body and Presence As stated, I want to see my legs. Hearing our merc voices is a nice touch, but let us modify the voices. My guy sounds like a *****. Make the sounds of me running "heavier", I want to hear my equipment as I move. Scouts should have a nice soft footstep. Assaults should have a nice equipment stomp, where you can hear your gear and equipment BF3-style, and Heavies should have a good heavy stomp, with the sound of their mechanical servos as they move. Allow me to run and slide, and vault over objects. Let me break into a roll when I hit the ground from height. Give me takedown kills for sneaking up on someone while crouched. Let us reppel, down the side of walls and towers. Let us shoot while we reppel. Allow mercs to actually sit on the outside of tanks. Scramble my HUD and vision as my armor takes heavy damage.
Let me holster my weapon when I haven't shot at anything for a while. Make my merc curse and swear when his weapon overheats. (scrambler explodes? "fvck!*) Make enemy mercs scream, "grenade!" when i throw one at them. Make the mercs shout when they see a tank, "MADRUUUUUUUGARRRRR!!!!!!!!!!"

I want to feel like Im a merc in the eve universe. After 3 months away and 3 monthly updates I still feel like a middle aged academic enjoying a computer game, albeit a much more polished game with slightly better controls. |

I will add more if I think of more, and if I like a suggestion in the comments. I love all of these. Personally, I can't figure why the HUD bounce was removed anyway? It was very slight, but did wonders for making you feel like you were looking at the inside of a helmet.
If you combine all these features with the visual leaps and bounds they've made in Uprising and since then, the game would feel a lot more "real".
Somewhat unrelated, but when we get more weather effects, an animation - canned if need be - of water running down your helmet is a must. It's just plain cool, and ups the immersion factor even further. |
