4500, as i post this. That isn't any lower than we've ever seen. But it's the weekend and so people like me aren't at school. A lot of people also aren't at work.
Player counts are fine. It's just that not everybody can play all the time. Or even as much as we want to.
We don't need doom and gloom over player counts there fine. |

It's the player count's after a content and update on the entire game.... You look at any game that expand's content on a regular basis and they have mass spikes in players counts on that date or after appropriate patch downloading time... DUST's atm is scary...

Playercount hasn't dropped since 1.4? Whaaat?
Before 1.4 playercount was 5k at peak weekdays, or maybe just below that. On weekends playercount was around 5.5k at peak.
After 1.4 those numbers have dropped to 4k and 4.5k weekdays and weekends respectively.
That sounds like a drop to me. |

I could care less about player count. I enjoyed Mag for a long time. However, Mag was just like Dust, it lost players quickly and then retained a small but loyal fan base and became a niche game. Dust is going that route as well. If a niche game is what it is destined to be, then so be it. |

They eventually will need to start coughing up money for promotion. We all know successful games have spent 50% of their budget on advertisement. If they want higher numbers that is. For example I did not even hear about EvE online until about 2009 or so. |

I don't know about you, but i do play games after work, and i imagine kids play games after school too. The "summer" excuse was weak too, i only have 2 weeks summer break and kids don't go on holidays for a full 2 months. You always have more people playing in the weekend, simply because people have more time to play.
Hopefully now that the game mechanics are getting better, the aiming is getting more and more balanced, and the matchmaking is starting to work, we will start to see the player-base getting bigger and stronger. |

I do play games after school but sometimes i'm just plain tired. Getting up early and then coming home to do another 2 hours of work takes it out of you. My holiday is from the about the 23th of june to september 5th. Basically 2 months.
I'm simply stating that because players can't play during the week as often, doesn't mean we're losing players. |

I love all the moaning from the nay sayers. It is a hoot.
The Only thing that matters is cash flow. As long as there are enough players spending AUR then CCP can continue this experiment. We don't know the numbers that truly matter nor will we.
F2P has different requirements and the most important one is related to meeting or exceeding Cash inflow projections. CCP is patient. If the moaners don't know that, which they obviously don't, then they should read some histories about EVE Online. |

Spending money on what though? There's been ZERO new meaningful content to write home about. A few maps?
The amount of people I know that stopped buying AUR because there's no reason to get SP fast anymore. Heavies still have 1 AI weapon and 1 suit. Tanks are still a joke. Scouts are borderline useless. ARs dominate everything, shotgun hit detection is off somehow, and we're basically playing the same game for too long to care about it anymore.
How about new weapons? How about new suits? New vehicles? More EVE integration? Make FW mean something? Naaah... first CCP needs to fix their archaic gameplay and visuals and just the general optimization of DUST needs work still. So until all that's been sorted, new content takes a backseat. They say new weapons in 1.5? lol... we'll see.
You can choose to believe DUST is fine, and what not, fact is DUST lost ALLOT of beta vets, and the people that actually spent good money on DUST.

I don't think so, GTA 5 is going to have little or not impact in Dust 514. The biggest danger have already gone pass:
"FINAL FANTASY XIV"
Next one is BF4. |

When The Last Of Us came out, the player count dropped badly. Then slowly went back up. GTA5 has 2 weeks of SP, then MP is introduced on the 1st. So basically a month of steady GTA5 gameplay. After that is PS4 in November.
DUST will see allot less people from next week Tuesday till whenever / if ever people feel like playing a last gen game. A sub par one at that. Not even hating on DUST, just stating how it is. |

In principal Dust 514 still is a MMO, even that we don't really have the MMO part of the game yet. GTA games are always the same, you have fun for about a week and then you get bore with them... so, not really a danger.
Battlefield 4 is a different story, is closer to Dust 514 than GTA 5 is. That is a real danger, but even then, it is hard to compare MMO's with Normal games, two different animals. I personally think FF14 "was" the biggest danger, and Dust survived, just about. |

FF14 impact was more significant on the PSN stress more than anything. Diablo III did take a notable chunk out though then combining it with the shortly following 1.4 did compound things a bit, but numbers are crawling back up. This is either an influx of newer players getting back in and staying in or old vets giving it another go. Its hard to tell without unique numbers that is not provided (and its a bad dream away from ever happening in any mmo to be made public api accessed) |

Yes you right, i forgot about Diablo III.. but by my experiences with Diablo games, the "fun" don't last long, and i still prefer playing games like that in the PC anyway. If CCP somehow can put itself together, and start to deliver the MMO content a bit faster, i can't see why the player-base could increase very fast, very quickly. |

This is nowhere near an MMO. It's a FPSRPG if anything. The only RPG side is leveling up your character, cuz we all know there's no customization what so ever.
GTA5 SP is R*'s biggest ever. You're underestimating the hype and quality of the game. Then you're also underestimating the fun factor of the MP aspect.
FF did take away a few people, so did Diablo, and GTA5 will do the same, then after PS4 with next gen FPS (KZ, PS2, BF4, Blacklight Ret. etc). You think this won't add up?
FF is not the biggest danger to DUST by a long shot lol. |

EVE is a player-driven, persistent-world MMORPG. Dust a FPSRPG lobby shooter. You really can't compare the 2. |
