remove all forms of aim assist, aim assist and aimbots are what turned FPSs into laughing stalks in esports and why they dont allow scrubby console games to play in the big boy leagues. |

Signed. Its perfectly fine in my opinion, and completely normal for a console shooter. KB/M has been unshackled, and the aim assist is needed for DS3 needs to stay competitive.
I bet the same people complaining about the aim assist will end up crying about KB/M being OP if aim assist gets removed. |

The DS3 DOES NOT need aim assist to be competitive, its bullshit and people should stop propagating it. Gamepads are competitive to kb/m if you have any semblance of skill. This is coming from a PC fps player who uses a gamepad on PC |

I'm impressed by the new aiming system, I really love it! The people who are god become better and new people having a better access. CCP did a very god job this time; I'm hoping to see some new and fresh content in the next patches. Let me explain. I have 8 rl buddies who all tried Dust, and no one kept playing after a view tries. After the patch 1.4 two people are paling again (after I told everyone to give it a try), they gave me the feedback that this game feels more like a shooter now and that they can finally hit something. If this two spread the word about Dust improving I bet more of my friends will come back. Me, as a veteran I feel that the aiming help is very welcome, I enjoy it.

top notch mechanics? if you mean becoming increasingly easier like COD than i guess you have a point. just because something is an industry standard doesnt mean its good. I think its pretty clear that games like COD have been ruining the industry for a while now.
Aim assists are fundamental to console games because of the inherent flaws in using a joystick in a game that requires precision. its not a precision input. Especially when m+kb is in the mix.
HOWEVER, adding an aimbot isnt the answer. There is a word for it, its called cheating. Enjoy your devhax while you can because once they fix it your going to suck again.

Actually it can be anything up to a certain range. I believe the forge aim assist is at 10~20m or so but so far I can't say for certain. It is still there but I still aim by myself at the slowest sensitivity for my forge. |

The only people who want this aimbot assist to stay like it is are complete and total scrubs. I use a DS3, and only run heavy with HMG. I guess that blows holes in the theory that only kbm/explosives users think this change is ridiculous, doesn't it?
My advice to vets: Abuse the **** out of it until they fix it. The more we abuse this laughably broken "feature", the faster it will get fixed. |

Aim assist allows players to push a button and it locks onto a target without much skill. If you have been playing games like myself for a long time you also remember there was no aim assist back in the day. You had to choose your target and aim. If you missed your target you adjusted your T.V. settings and went from there. If you did not get that one you haven't been playing for a while. Aim assist takes the challenge out of games, it has ruined a lot of FPS. So I say learn to use your sights, move the joystick or controller to your target and pick your shots. This is better and more of a challenge than to hit a button and let the AI do the work for you. This is what happens in today's do it for me society, we have forgot how to do things on our own. |

This aim assist strikes a perfect balance and I have to say well done to CCP for that. It helps make ADS combat a lot more FUN and less of a chore. It still requires one to have aiming skill, and those with enough should be able to dominate without aim assist. More importantly aiming is one of the few things that has been holding this game back, not just in reviews but in player retention. The only argument against it is that so many players have learned to excel without it, and are now at what is in there opinion a disadvantage. To them I say, this game is evolving, and in my opinion for the better, if you can't learn to live with change then leave. |

Lurchasaurus you should look at page two. You said something like my friends sucks, without even knowing them. This drags me to the conclusion that you are out of arguments and rather troll and insult people? Do you even have a feeling for the world outside your screen? A bigger understanding of the gaming marked could help you realize that CCP didnGÇÖt make Dust to YOUR personal game. This is a product to earn money and not your seal of approve.
Dear CCP, The most time Dust donGÇÖt even have more than 3000 people playing. There are people out there with only little time. They canGÇÖt play several games at once or the same game for an excessive amount. This people are happy if they can cut two hours of free time and enjoy some gaming. There are the people who have more time; I like to call them the GÇ£casualgamersGÇ¥, ever heard of them? Yes you have. These are the people which you needs the most because this people are the big numbers who can carry more money in to the company. Aim assist is one tool to make the game accessible for everybody (PVE could be another) and as the aim assist is now it still leaves room for your personal and individual improvement. I keep reading here that all you need to do is hold your gun in one direction and keep shooting. That is definitely not the case, you still have to aim and follow your target. Aim assist helps you following. IGÇÖm using ARs and I havenGÇÖt experienced this magical magnetism or aimboting. The personal room of improvement is as always in a FPS is the GÇ£aim and headshotGÇ¥, it is not the following, itGÇÖs aiming and having the gun at the exact point without dragging it around. (This point should be the head.) Again, I havenGÇÖt seen any automated headshots while using aim assist.
I hope CCP keep the aim assist as it is, the game is hardcore enough. What we need are numbers in this game, more people p(l)aying it. I understand that it is a narrow path between an ambitious game and CoD but CCP still needs to concede something for the broader audience.

OTOH if we are to remove it, then you need to seriously limit mouse effectiveness with things such as;
Add momentum so that changing strafe direction can be no faster than controller Add momentum so that aiming cannot twitch around faster than a controller Cap rotational speed to that of a controller and make sure it takes an amount of time to reach maximum rotational speed just like a controller.
Or we could just keep the aiming assists. |

for someone not coming into Dust from EVE or someone who doesnt have much experience with FPS games outside of recent CODs or BFs, Dust IS a complex game. Having to build up a fitting from nothing, while staying on top of the different factors you want while keeping your personal skills high can be daunting. Fitting seems daunting at first and I'm sure it's confusing for people not used to RPGs, but it doesn't take long to figure it out. Every suit has two resource pools, and every item takes up a certain amount of both. That's pretty much it. |

Mossellia and Sete, you are absolutely right. However, the thing we are discussing right now are the people who don't understand this, who are entitled and want things handed to them on a platter (aimbots, matches with no vehicles or proto suits, one-shottable vehicles), or those who simply can't be bothered to put in as much time and effort and who still want to be top dog.
Fact is, CCP DOES allow this, just in the form of AUR items. And hey, it's a free game and they need to make money. |

It's odd how so many responses say that this somehow levels the playing field between those who use controllers and those who use KB/M. I'm assuming most of these people have never picked used this method of input, so how is their opinion on the matter valid? I've watched many people who I know use controllers (because I've spoken to them online) regularly get more kills than me, and kill me outright much of the time. Where was my great advantage? I've posted some fairly impressive scores myself, but I don't hold a candle to most of these people. Now these same people are getting dropped in no time by people in NPC corps. And why, if I had this obscene advantage by using KB/M, was it not the standard amongst top ranked players? Most of them have spent literally hundreds of dollars on this game to try to stay on top, and yet they wouldn't make a one-time $15 purchase that would have given them this godly advantage?
Fact: you will not do as much damage without aim assist as with. No matter the weapon, no matter the range. Test it if you like. Hipfire at a stationary target, zoom in, it doesn't matter. You will not receive the volume of hit markers or headshots that you receive with aim assist. I'm sure people are once again going to ask me to provide some sort of proof. Realistically, it's right in your hands. Leave aim assist on and don't mess with the controls too much, and see how you do as far as accuracy, turn it off and take all the time you like to line up the exact same shot, then tell me I'm wrong .
Giving a little assistance to newbies and casual players is one thing. Making it so that they have the capacity to kill faster than someone using skill? That's going a bit far. No one, no matter what their manner of control, could ever consistently kill this fast. |

I guarantee it if the aim assist gets removed the player base with plummet so hard because of all the other console shooter out there that use it instead for more comfortable levels of control. What is the killer for most F2P games, it is lack of support from the player base. I Guarantee it that most players will leave and would i if aim assist was removed because so many other better shooter are coming real soon which understand the importance of this. All of you who defend aim assist remove will be the one responsible not for only diminishing the player base but killing DUST 514. That there is a promise, I guarantee it Dust will not survive without aim assist because if you don't believe me check the status of player count after aim assist was removed... Player count drop so hard it was no longer salvageable..

starting at 6-1-13 the player count dropped drastically due to lack of content in clunky gameplay. Every Critic out there has hurt Dusts name because they say the games trash for the same reasons. Here are real Facts, Dust will die without comfortable shooting because thats what most shooters out there focus on most, making the shooting feel very good. |

Don't believe me check it out on google you will see the research there. |

Just have some baby pool area where noobs can play with AA on. Make it an option to use. This way you'll have your casuals, CCP. And you are not scaring off the core of your community who I believe does way more to keep your cash flow than that 'casual' who jumps from one game to the next and never spends enough time on Dust to even conceive spending money in it. |

Aim assist was made so DS3 players could compete with KB/M players as KB/M has greater speed and precision than DS3. You can tell who are KB/M players as they want Aim Assist removed while the DS3 players want Aim Assist to stay.
My true opinion: DUST is a console game. All other console games gave up on KB/M support and DUST should as well as DUST is a console game. Once KB/M support is gone, I'd have no problem with Aim Assist also being removed. |

I guarantee that Dust will not survive with AA on. Ppl who play are those who are disgusted by COD. Not the 12 year olds who are just killing time while their mom has grounded them and took her credit card away- at least before Christmas when she is gonna buy them another Black Ops. |

the only reason i left farmville to play dust was because they announced that there was aim assist. do you really want to chase off a potential demographically challenged target audience member such as myself that seeks a crutch in the world of FPS gaming?
TLDR with aim assist on i just wanna be loved is that so wrong? |
