Turn aim assist off for a while, then turn it back on. If you're incapable of telling the difference, you've got no business representing the interests of the general playerbase as a CPM member. The aim assist as it currently stands is, as previously stated, obscene. When the computer tracks targets across your screen with 0 input from your right analog controller, something is wrong.
What next? Trigger assist? Will the computer - after aiming down our targets for us - also handle that bothersome shooting part? Clearly we cannot be assed with learning when to fire our guns as I see blue dots shooting at walls and the MCC all the time, so obviously we all need an option to let the game decide when to fire our weapons for us too. Can I get some movement assist? My heavy suit is such a chore to walk around in.
If this iteration of aim assist is staying, there needs to be matchmaking for those with aim assist, and those without it. Period. I'd much rather play against kb/m and PSMove users with my DS3 without aim assists than people using aimbots. |

@ Scalesdini and Lurchasaurus. I love the arguments that anyone who disagrees with your assertations regarding the aim assist is obviously bad and their opinions invalid. I can see you both have promising careers ahead of you in conservative talk radio or are you already both overweight, pill popping, sex tourists? |

Utterly ridiculous hyperbole to support your point? Check.
Haven't finished downloading yet but you cannot just make up hypothetical situations to get your point across like that. That's like saying. "That man owns a butter knife. What's next a WMD?!"
Now again I haven't played yet so I don't know how bad or good the aim assist yet. |

I guess OP has never played a shooter before. When your aim "snaps" on target without the player's input, thats called an aimbot. When I aim at someone and my aim suddenly auto corrects itself and tracks perfectly at center mass without me touching the right analog, thats an aimbot.
I guess some people consider going on an elevator as climbing stairs. |

A small amount of snap is expected, magnetism if you will, but as nick has said he cant tell much difference, nick if its not too much bother, prehaps you could make quick video with a side by side comparison, while I dont doubt you, a video is always nice!! |

You put 3 bullets into someone with an AR and let go of the stick. I had to 'cos my remote died on me, but the enemy strafed across the road, into a building, then popped out and killed me. Normally I would have been frantically plugging in the remote by that point, but no, I was sat dumbstruck, as the crosshairs stayed on him, stopped when he went out of sight then followed him again when he returned.
The aim assist is extremely strong, it even follows a sprinting scout as it jumps past you, I have been on both sides of this today. |

I like the aim assist with AR but with Shotgun it feels broke as hell. The gun doesn't even hit almost at all anymore. |

The aim assist really only kicks in if you are actively aiming. at least for me |

You have no place representing the interests of the player base. If you honestly think that this absurd aim assist is what this game needs, then screw you dude.
As it stands, the aim assist is far too strong. Aim assist should provide aiming friction, not this ridiculous "sticky reticle" that you get. Anyone who has ever played any other FPS without equally idiotic assist will notice just how ridiculous it is. Every player who is worth his salt realizes how broken it is, while all the ones who couldn't tell the barrel from the stock are claiming "aim assist is fine!". Aim assist is for single player games. The game should never take control of the most crucial aspect of any multiplayer competitive FPS. |

Yeah this I haven't been able to get it that bad since the close of beta. Overall I am still adjusting for the new feel the aiming feels slightly 'pegged' but no where near as bad as kill zone's, but the spawn tracking and dead guy tracking is entirely gone now, a problem that has plagued me since... well since I installed dust.
As for a person who constantly swaps between AA disabled AV weapons and regular infantry weapons I certainly don't know the difference in trying to track people.
Call of Duty's Aim Snapping (the thing that enables quick scoping) is far far stronger than anything dust's exhibits in terms of tracking for what I seen so far. |

N1ck Comeau wrote:Some people can't wrap their heads around this so here is a video of someone actually using an aimbot. This isn't even close to the mild aim assist we have in Dust. I just played a match with the Exile Assault rifle. Using the gun at close range was no problem. But i could say the same about the HMG or the submachine gun or the shotgun (when it hits) You couldn't not move your stick and have it still follow at their head. That is such a lie. I tried that like 10 times. Also the aim assist will not keep you dead on a sprinting target. You will have to make some semi hard to make adjustments. It is a lot better than 1.3. But by no means is it an "Aimbot" However hit detection feels super improved so maybe thats why they feel like people have aimbot. They're not used to getting hit so much. Edit. Testing for a second game and i discovered this very slight tug feeling while hip firing in CQC combat.
Not enough to make a massively huge difference. Or even enough that it would be the reason you got the kill. It helps but i believe just at the right amount.
If you do not actively move the stick while hip firing the enemy can easily out strafe this. Your reticle has to be red for this to help. and if you aren't pulling your own weight while aiming then you will not get the kill. The so called "Aimbot" will not make it easy mode.
Still very low amounts of aim assist while in ADS. It feels normal. You have to aim and hit the target. The only time it feels easy mode is if an enemy is standing still. But you would have gotten that kill regardless.2nd edit. i played a third match and stayed at medium range where apparently the aimbot was massively noticeable says Scalesdini Quote:At medium range, the aim assist is essentially aimbot. It tracks your target for you. At very close or very long ranges it's more of an actual aim assist. If you think the aim assist is not noticeable and is not capable of tracking targets with 0 input on your right stick, turn it off for a few matches. You will feel differently. Don't even get me started on the fact that the aim "assist" will suck your crosshairs up to the enemy's head if you stay on target for a second or so, leading to many many more headshots today than there were yesterday.
Fixing hit detection problems and buffing the aim assist in the same update was an awful, awful idea. Now combine those two things with the laser-like accuracy of AR's - the most widely used weapon - and you'll understand why people are complaining.
Speaking as a DS3 user who despises the notion that we need any manner of aim assist to compete with kb/m, take the aim assist out. You're going to train us all to be lazy, inaccurate baddies who rely on the computer to aim for us. I turned the aim assist on today to see how bad it was and I can literally see myself forgetting how to aim properly if you leave this in the game.
tl;dr - Aim "assist" is obscene. It needs removed, or nerfed at minimum. Anyone who disagrees with this point is terrible at aiming and should be ignored entirely because they're incapable of forming an unbiased opinion on the matter not the case. The so called "Aimbot" barley helped me shoot at medium range. It was basically no help whatsoever. You felt almost no help while shooting. Medium range engagements are only easy if you get some lucky headshots or if he is standing still. But either then that they will usually be able to run away 3rd Edit. Just played a match without the so called "Aimbot" You notice it's not on. But not by much. If someone took it off without telling me i would just assume that i'm having a slightly off day. Missing just a little more than i normally do. But NOT OH MY GOD WHERE DID MY AMAZING ELITE SKILLS GO I SUCK NOW!!!! DURRRRRRRR. Within a day of playing i would be able to aim just as good as someone with aim assist. There isn't that much of a difference. So that concludes this thread post. I hope more people realize that with the combo of the improved hit detection the improved aim assist and the slightly smoother feeling of the frames that it all helps make someone seem better than before
Thank you. |
