Some people can't wrap their heads around this so here is a
video of someone actually using an aimbot.
This isn't even close to the mild aim assist we have in Dust.
I just played a match with the Exile Assault rifle.
Using the gun at close range was no problem. But i could say the same about the HMG or the submachine gun or the shotgun (when it hits)
You couldn't not move your stick and have it still follow at their head. That is such a lie. I tried that like 10 times.
Also the aim assist will not keep you dead on a sprinting target. You will have to make some semi hard to make adjustments.
It is a lot better than 1.3. But by no means is it an "Aimbot"
However hit detection feels super improved so maybe thats why they feel like people have aimbot. They're not used to getting hit so much.
Edit. Testing for a second game and i discovered this very slight tug feeling while hip firing in CQC combat.
Not enough to make a massively huge difference. Or even enough that it would be the reason you got the kill. It helps but i believe just at the right amount.
If you do not actively move the stick while hip firing the enemy can easily out strafe this. Your reticle has to be red for this to help. and if you aren't pulling your own weight while aiming then you will not get the kill. The so called "Aimbot" will not make it easy mode.
Still very low amounts of aim assist while in ADS. It feels normal. You have to aim and hit the target. The only time it feels easy mode is if an enemy is standing still. But you would have gotten that kill regardless.2nd edit.
i played a third match and stayed at medium range where apparently the aimbot was massively noticeable says Scalesdini
Quote:At medium range, the aim assist is essentially aimbot. It tracks your target for you. At very close or very long ranges it's more of an actual aim assist. If you think the aim assist is not noticeable and is not capable of tracking targets with 0 input on your right stick, turn it off for a few matches. You will feel differently. Don't even get me started on the fact that the aim "assist" will suck your crosshairs up to the enemy's head if you stay on target for a second or so, leading to many many more headshots today than there were yesterday.
Fixing hit detection problems and buffing the aim assist in the same update was an awful, awful idea. Now combine those two things with the laser-like accuracy of AR's - the most widely used weapon - and you'll understand why people are complaining.
Speaking as a DS3 user who despises the notion that we need any manner of aim assist to compete with kb/m, take the aim assist out. You're going to train us all to be lazy, inaccurate baddies who rely on the computer to aim for us. I turned the aim assist on today to see how bad it was and I can literally see myself forgetting how to aim properly if you leave this in the game.
tl;dr - Aim "assist" is obscene. It needs removed, or nerfed at minimum. Anyone who disagrees with this point is terrible at aiming and should be ignored entirely because they're incapable of forming an unbiased opinion on the matter
not the case. The so called "Aimbot" barley helped me shoot at medium range. It was basically no help whatsoever. You felt almost no help while shooting. Medium range engagements are only easy if you get some lucky headshots or if he is standing still. But either then that they will usually be able to run away
3rd Edit.
Just played a match
without the so called "Aimbot"
You notice it's not on. But not by much. If someone took it off without telling me i would just assume that i'm having a slightly off day. Missing just a little more than i normally do.
But NOT OH MY GOD WHERE DID MY AMAZING ELITE SKILLS GO I SUCK NOW!!!! DURRRRRRRR.
Within a day of playing i would be able to aim just as good as someone with aim assist. There isn't that much of a difference.
So that concludes this thread post.
I hope more people realize that with the combo of the improved hit detection the improved aim assist and the slightly smoother feeling of the frames that it all helps make someone seem better than before
