I read someplace that CCP said the new version would be "rubber band proof".
This is depressing.
If it is true, I hope they can hotfix it soon.
Why can't they just make sitting in the MCC a reason to get 0 WP?
Or sitting on the ground doing nothing?

Ok I am testing this out now. The blue dots are angry, punching me in the back haha.
- I have been afk-ing for 4 mins now and my rubber band just popped off. - 6mins in to the match and I discovered a much better place to have the band. - match is 3/4 of the way through, still here and rubber band is holding nicely. - The match ended.
AFK is not fixed.

We told you months ago that you shouldn't waste your time with this "fix" and what do you do...
It's time to make this game fun. That's the best solution to fixing AFK, but I know you can't do that, the past year has shown that. I guess the only thing you can do then is to not give SP for just being in a match. |

Wanna stay at the redline taking potshots with that sniper? Go ahead, but you'd better be a crack shot to get a decent amount of XP out of it.... have sympathy with this view - but then everyone would run logis (as many do now for WP). A WP fit: nanos/ reps/ injector - and coming soon scanning - quickest and easiest way to make WP. No need to play objectives or anything. WP need a general rethink But is this really a problem for pubs? Who cares if people run fits to boost their WP if they are attempting to hit their SP cap? I have said it before and I will keep saying it. AFKing problem as Babar said will never be fixed until they remove the SP per second in game and make it a SP per WP. If you make it such that you get 5-10 SP per WP then you will stop seeing people constantly AFKing and you will see more participation in capturing objectives and hives/links/etc. I agree. But they cant just get rid of in game SP without reworking WP. if you go 20-0 you get 1000 WP If you follow and rep a heavy all game you can go 3000 WP - adding nothing to the team. the WP are all out fo whack yes its pubs. Its where people play to hit the cap.
You don't know how logis work do you? That would be at least 4000 HP that would have been healed, and since triage has a cooldown after around 150-200 HP healed that likely means that you healed more. That means that if he followed ONE heavy around this entire time, he healed him 24 separate times for the full cooldown amount. That's 23 engagements that he was able to return to in full health. You cannot say that that logi is doing nothing. |

I have a logi character - I can WP farm with it. The 3000 was a guesstimate. The fact is logis are able to get WP from a number of sources unlike other suits.
And I can say a logi did nothing in that engagement because they didnt. Solely healing and following a heavy around adds zero to a teams performance. You are taking out a player to circle hold.

I tried the rubber band thing (purely for scientific purposes) and I can say I was kicked from the game when I only rubber banded the left analog stick. When I redid the rubber band on both sticks AFKing works just like it did before. Except now everyone will be spinning in circles in the MCC. |

OK. Match over. A few things. I unchecked Ambush. Got an Ambush OMS. Whatever. I ran off to a quiet corner and proceeded to spin in circles rubberbanded. I recieved 3,424 Sp and 180,364 ISK. For absolutely nothing....
I should add that I've never AFKed for SP. I AFK on my alt purely to pay for my derpship habit.
edit: I guess AFKing is still not going to maximize SP gains from the event. I did absolutely nothing and still went over the 3000 max by 424. |

Obviously this isn't going to be perfect, but it should significantly cut down on incidences of AFKing. If it doesn't have a noticeable impact we'll re-evaluate.

No, sorry let me clarify. The first attempt with only the left analog failed. And I was given no warning. So far having both analogs rubber banded seems to work fine.

Tested and confirmed!
WHAT!!! I thought they said the fix was no skill points over time for being in the red zone AT ALL
Promoting the holding of and use of respawn points on the battlefield. Since re spawning in the redzone would cause you to lose 20 seconds of your free SP as you ran back into the battle zone.
Also, didn't they said any kills you got while you are in the redzone would give 0 SP.
It seemed like a simple straight forward logical fix and then... dun dun dun.... PATCH DAY!!!! |
