Also if you're this new, be VERY aware that the assault rifle is the shortest ranged of all the "rifles" but with the most damage output. Pick your engagements accordingly. next in range is Combat rifle, then Scrambler, Then Rail.

You'll have a synergy if you use the AR with either the Gallente Commando or Assault suits, as it counts as a Hybrid-Plasma (As opposed to Hybrid Rail). Caldari and to a lesser extend Minnie Sentinels will also have a resistance against you.
