You don't have to hide in the hillside to get kills with a sniper rifle. So if there are already a few snipers camping in the hills stick with your team on the ground.

A good pilot with good gunners can be a nuisance, but all it takes is a swarm launcher or two to stop them. They'll either get shot down or keep running.
