its way to dodgy to use the knife. You have to get extreme close to make use of it and most of the time the guy infront of you shot you 60 times before you come even to close. Also people are walking backwards if they spot you and you run up to them.

The repair tool is not there for spider tanking because the amount of healed HP on dropsuits is just to low. When you really want to be into this then go for the logistic LAV Limbus. Heals heavy's allmost instantly.
