The range is nothing to be worried about- it's a relatively slow projectile, and has a harder arc to predict than mass drivers. Plus I don't think it even does damage after a while, even though you can still see the projectile.

Btw, since when were did swarms do complete 180s and go around walls? Mine go out of their way to fly into walls, and a few volleys today DIDN'T EVEN TURN to go after a dropship. They just kept going straight past it!
