Do you mean a secondary like AR granade launcher combo? That could be good idea for the minie machine gun. Have the grenade launcher shoot grenades from your grenade slot instead of throwing them.

To be a good tank you pretty much need both eventually. If your running with a logi w/ armor rep, then i would focus on armor tanking. The current heavy suits favor armor. This may change in the future when we eventually get race specific suits.

Its a different strategy but can certainly work as you show. Good video. You might also try using vehicles. HAVs tend to draw out enemies.
