They should also do a hot-temperate mood. Basically the planet is really close to its home star, and the map is bathed in so much light that it becomes hard to see. There would be glare and heat-shimmer effects everywhere.

A good first step to make relaying information quicker and simpler would be to add the other 3 cardinal directions to the compass. Maybe if CCP is feeling fancy enough they would add the intercardinal directions as well.
