OP, some great ideas in the design of your weapon, looks like something more geared towards support roles than the MD and would definitely fit in on the battlefield.
To all the naysayers in here I implore you to consider that the current shotgun is not really a great support weapon in the wide open space between points of cover most of the time and having a weapon to fit that role of cover fire suppression without killing the teammates you are covering or yourself when misfired (FW/PC) would be great.

The biggest issue I have with the MD atm is the rather limited ammo which means you are not support but rather need to support yourself (hives) which by itself seems ok until you look at the fact that a squad that moves needs more nanohives, more ammo and when you are out of ammo you are totally boned (logibro talking)
See, I'm at a weird middle ground here, where I want to give it a smaller magazine to encourage longer range play, as is typical of Caldari weapons, but I also wanna give it a larger mag to allow for it to be more a team support gun.
THERES SO MANY CHOICES.

Also my main concern right now is whether the charge up time of 0.4 seconds should be altered, I think people have proven that the weapon does need a charge time, and I agree, however I'd appreciate any educated advice from shotgun users on what a decent charge time WOULD be

This was an extreme. Luck, but let's call it skill for my example.
Today I also missed 11 shots shooting at still heavy
Another extreme. Due to a complete lack of skill
I think the key to balancing is to keep both extremes in check. The best example being the flaylock. Any noob could use it originally, then the nerf hit and even the best players couldn't use it.

Yeah it's a bit of a pain trying to find the line between a skill gun and something thats so hard to hit things with it's about as effective as throwing shovels at people

Yeah like I said, I would have made the standard version solid slug, but the added spread of the 9-Rod projectile prevents it from becoming just another long range spammer, with this you actually gotta get more up close and personal than the other Caldari weapons.

I actually think the Breach variant sounds awesome, kinda reminds me of the XM25, the PS3 might poop itself though, so I'm guessing thats a next-gen idea. |

I always loved the concept of using the following as Minmatar melee weapons
A flash drive
A Prison Shiv
A screwdriver
A large pair of rusty scissors
and the ol' BF3 box-cutter.

Reminds me of BF 1983 I think? Anyway each class had its own melee weapon, the engineer had a wrench. Add rust and it's minmatar

EDIT: Aether Hive Breach Variant could possibly be replaced with airburst rounds or AV rounds instead of just flux. They would need to be balanced of course, but in theory this gun could be the XM25 of Dust essentially
