I can't tell for the life of me how far away something is in this blasted game.
Give me a "Laser Range Finder" in every weapon sight in the game. Basically, a small readout at the top of my window that tells me how far away something is that is lined up in my crosshairs... it will be there at ALL TIMES. I have a crosshair on my screen, there will be a range reading on that object it is lined up on... no exceptions.
If folks are insisting the Drop-ships need altimeters, I need a range finder in my crosshairs. |

there is already a range finder when you look at an object(person, vehical, turret) it says Range: Xm. it is part of the rest of the stats of the object you look at
I reject you reality and substitute my own.

Yep, you might have to wait a few seconds before you get a reading but every weapon has a range-finder. Of course, each one is based on the weapon used: GåÆ the Shotgun has a very short LR GåÆ the Sniper Rifle has a very long LR
So, if you can't pick data it means your target is out of range for your current weapon.

Yes you do get a range eventually when the target is in sight. It would be nice to be able to tell the range from you to the enemies cover before the enemy comes out of cover. That can help you decide if you need to move or if you are right in the sweet spot to provide cover so your buddies can move into position to take the enemies position. |

It'd be best if it were, for instance, on the top left corner of any scope/RDS.

Ok, ya'll are missing the point of a LRF.
I don't just want to have some fleeting flicker of a number jazz hands across my screen in itty bitty little numbers I never notice ONLY when I have a shootable target in my sights... I want to see that number... PERMANENTLY emblazoned across the top of my screen when I have ANY kind of crosshairs on my screen. It should tell me the distance to ANYTHING and EVERYTHING I am looking at. It should NOT take several seconds to "lase" a target only, it should be constantly taking range readings off of everything that my crosshairs touch.
This would INCLUDE my walking around "hip fire" cross hairs that magically float along in front of me on my screen when I am NOT looking down my rifle through my scope. I should be getting a range to anything and everything I look at, at all times. |

I would only support this if it was optional I am pretty good at judging distances and unless the numbers were very discrete it would probably annoy me allot more than it would help.

I think your idea includes a meter showing your distance from the ground in a dropship? if so, +1. I need to know when im far enough off the ground for FG's to not hit me, or far enough to where swarms can't lock on. It would make great use for strategy.

Laser rifles, good for popping corn...
Shotgun, great for parties...

Yes please. +1 to your idea too.
Also would help you know if you are out of your side gunners and (on assault DS' s) would help you to know if your main weapons are out of range. |
