Watch CEO Pyrexs recent tank videos. He uses that fit, and you'll notice I'm in the squad to. I have seen it used in battle many times and it does do well. But I have also seen him die in it many times.

I like my gold and my lasers, so maybe not the best fit on paper, but it's fun. And I play for the fun. Plus I get 10% damage bonus to the lazer from my commando suit! plus my lvl 5 lazer skill giving me 25% cool down bonus and my prof 5 in lazers...
