Make it overheat in one shot like the Ion pistol. Maybe buff the charge damage slightly to compensate for this change. That way the charge would be great for finishing of wounded targets, but you cant charge it up going into QCQ and follow it up ...

6 man squads are just overkill in a 16 vs 16 game. 6 man squads don't even fit into a team of 16!! 4 x 4 = 16 6 x 4 = 18 It makes no sense and just leads to stomps in pubs.
