I get too many points by blowing these things up with my basic AV nades as they drive past me. Besides, players need a way to understand that you can use vehicles in this game. Hardly anyone ever just specializes into LAV's.

The best thing to do when using a tank is to send it in at the beginning of the battle so that they can't immediately destroy it. Once it has been long enough for the other team to earn an orbital, just recall the tank. Simple.
