Bored and curious if others feel(s) the way I do.
I've stopped buying aurum mainly because I feel that it does not provide the value that I want in this game. Even when I was running Omega passive and active boosters, I still felt like I was being held back from progressing at the rate I felt was acceptable. It felt like grinding then and now that my omegas are gone, the grinding is even more of a chore. To put it shortly, I suppose the never ending grind is demoralizing and i'm simply burned out.
I don't think buying boosters is worth it anymore. I've played this game for free for over a year and only in the past 3 months have I bought aurum (90$). To me, it feels like this:
>play for free and grind for eternity (3-6 months depending how special you want to get) to specialize into a single role. >Buy aurum every month and grind for 2-4 months in order to specialize into a single role.
DISCLAIMER: DIGRESSION AHEAD
I'm pretty drunk right now and for some reason this is a really complicated issue for me (one issue keep leading to another, and another, and another, and another, and another......) to process in my head right now. For example, now I want to talk about the bad skill design. ( I believe there should be no such thing as "Core Skills" or as referred to ingame as dropsuit upgrades) Every dropsuit's CPU, PG, ARMOR, SHIELD, SCANNING, and all other skills listed under that category needs to be balanced from the start. The skill upgrades shouldn't exist in the first place. Give everyone the same starting HP, and make them decide how they want to modify their HP with their modules, not how long they've had an account.
I've digressed a bit. Sorry. But I don't want to delete it so I will Italicize my digression and label it as a disclaimer.
Basically what i'm trying to say is, from my point of view, I wish that CCP will treat purchasers of AURUM better in the future. I am no longer willing to pay money in order to barely put a dent in the amount of grinding I have to do to unlock skills.
INB4 fanboys telling me to play for fun (we can't even reach 5000 online. THIS GAME ISN'T FUN)
INB4 pay to win (LOL this entire game is built on pay-to-win. Just because i'm using $$$ and not ISK will not keep me from destroying you or vice versa. Also players grow wider not taller.) |

Bought one merc pack many months ago, haven't used up the AUR yet, so have no reason to buy more. I guess I could buy more boosters, but I'm waiting for the paintbucket dropsuit color customization system; if I have enough AUR after that, then I'll likely buy a syndicate SMG, and boosters, and more AUR. |

haven't put any more real money into this game in a couple months.
still going thru my AUR with short active boosters, passive has another week and unlikely ill get more of that
then again I have a virtual mountain of SP and only use AUR for boosters.
P2W items ive never messed with, not to mention the isk version is available to me for pretty much.... everything |

I stopped buying Aurum (or special packs) several months ago for several reasons.
1) Value GÇô I only purchase boosters and I felt that the standard booster no longer was of value vs cost.
2) No long term confidence GÇô I have played many F2P titles and watched many close after a bit of time. As such I am very aware that everything purchased can be wiped away by that closure. I no longer have confidence in the long term stability of Dust 514 and since I do not like to throw money away I have stopped investing. |

Stopped using boosters after i felt like getting SP was becoming too grindy. This coincided with getting to an SP level where my role is more or less maxed out and I'm beyond the point where not having enough SP will make me less competitive (12M+ in Assault only) |

Agreed with everything you said except the disclaimer part lol. I'm ok with having core skills since I like to get rewarded for time invested into the game. It's just that the time is way too long. The SP sinks are terrible. Some skills like weaponry don't even have a bonus and I have it at lvl 5 to unlock my HMG. I want all skills to have a bonus, even if it's minimal. Everything else you wrote is exactly what I would have said. +1

I have over 12 million sp, with passive omega boosters still queued, so there's no reason to buy aurum for those. There's also no variation between many of the BPO's on offer, so there's no point in buying aurum to get the same AR with just a different name and skin. In fact, many of the BPO's are inferior to Standard level isk items (I'm looking at you Dren). Why pay real money for inferior items when you have over 120 million isk and you can get for 1500 isk? |

Me too.
The way they seem to first make very (un)popular items on sale, like the various direct hit nades, and then suddenly changing them into 1/10 of its preceived value is just bad karma. (They reduced the number from 2 or 3 down to 1, they upped the fitting cost from 9/2 and 18/3 up to 48/6 - making them totally useless the way I used them as a cheaper to fit nade for a scout or equipment heavy Logi fitting. )
The other thing is the totally BS useless packages they sell. Yes the elite Pack gave me a nice red BPO LAV, some AUR and some Boosters, but all the other BPOs are next to useless IMO. Why make a BPO AR with the name Dren AR when its the exact same gun as an Exile AR? Given the price and the names of the packages, (Starter, Veteran and Elite, or something in that direction, I can't remember) - If they atleast had given the stats for the stuff.
I honestly believed that the Dren AR would be better than the Exile, it was in a bigger pack with a bigger price tag named "elite", what "elite" would ever use a basic gun? Its perhaps not a direct lie, I can probably not "catch" them on any legal matter, but they have lost my faith, I now only see them as a bunch of greedy amataurs that in most cases have no idea what they're doing. I will not support this game anymore. Not without the respects and a buy back option for AUR stuff when CCP nerf stuff into uselessness.
Simply put, CCP lacks any sence of normal common decency and they violate the practice of thousandds of years of trade.
Dealing with proffesional clients instead of gamers in this manner would have put them out of business a long time ago.
No more AUR for me untill they go back on some of their polecies.

I budget $20 a month for this. I bought the elite pack so no more real money from me until October or so. Between the boosters that came with the pack and the Aurum stash I have I'll be covered for boosters until then. The elite seemed the best deal and in return I got a BPO LAV and four BPO standard level suits.
Spend that money wisely CCP and I'll buy another fat pack for my birthday. |

I'm a sucker for customization. That would make me spend some of that Aurum. I'd also have to buy another elite pack immediately if an Angel/Minmatar themed one were to hit the market with a Domination Minmatar LAV in it and Domination Logistics, Domination Scout, Domination Combat Rifle...
Yeah, make that happen. Please.

Maybe its time for a new Quafe event. Best to bump up the number of suits you get though to encourage their use. I have 125 of the Quafe Proto Scout suits that I can't use. Waiting for the market to open up. |

That's a good idea. You could call them Quafe Events held every other month or so with rotating suits. All pink btw. |

Why pay to do stuff I don't want to do?
All that is left is customization and frankly there aren't any social environments to really show anything off in. So who cares? |

hehehehe I've never bought Aurum because it's really not worth it, I don't care if the price is low it's a f2p game and I don't see the need to purchase anything in this game. Except for those passive boosters maybe but still I don't wanna spend money on a game that is likely to fail pretty soon. |

I stopped buying Aurum for a few reasons:
1. I have enough SP (13+ million) that my core skills are full up on this role. Yes, everything is huge SP numbers away for small improvements, but I have no problem waiting at this point. I have a solid set of skills to use and a decent set of options with which to play. I am almost ready to start pooling SP in anticipation of future offerings, as what is currently available for vehicle operators is pretty limited.
2. I have learned the hard way to not buy items from CCP after what they did to the armored assault pack. I will never purchase items again with cash or aurum, because they can and will be changed at CCP's whims, making what I purchased suddenly less desirable. I have zero confidence in purchasing anything from a company that has a proven record of changing said items after the fact.
3. I have a Merc pack worth of items, including an active booster stuck on a toon that I want to biomass. Until I can trade those items off, there is little to no reason to invest more, as I consider it a barometer of how CCP has progressed. I understand that item trading is a LONG way off, but that is on CCP, not me.

F2P gives you that option. I have money and feel that if I pay for my entertainment then hopefully it'll be used to improve that entertainment. Otherwise, the company has no reason to continue providing the service. What's cool is that those that don't have the money to spend can still participate and provide content as well. At $20 per month it's costing me about $0.50 per hour or less. Damn cheap entertainment.
You seem to think the game is going to fail but you're still here participating and theoretically playing the game and receiving enjoyment. If you have money maybe its time to chip in a few bucks so it doesn't fail? If anything you can help put food on the table of the lowly artists and coders.
