Seriously, just as much stupid **** goes on in PS2 as in DUST514, PS2 just has larger, persistent maps with controls that are a bit tighter.
Sometimes I think that those who hype PS2 so much here must be on some sort of payroll, because why else would they put so much energy into it? Sony said themselves that they aren't giving up on the PS3 that's way Destiny and other games are going to be made for both consoles I hope your right If you search it there should be an article on it, I would provide a link but idk if it'd work as I'm on my phone
So we are gonna be charged to play online even on the ps3? |

Never heard anything like that, but what I do know is F2Plays and MMO games are being given a optional (and recommended) pass on double-charging their customers. |

Damn it, that's another thing. You do understand that most games would kill for those numbers right? 4-5000 consistent players? Dust is nowhere near dead, the problem is not that it is dying, but that all things die. The problem is that it has no critical mass and that my friends is what every successful game needs at it's core.
Personally, I've said previously that allowing a full market and the ability to be used as ammunition in Eve Online (Boarding Parties) would absolutely launch this game forward. |

i find it funny how people think dust is meant to be played 23/7 by everyone and if not then it is dead. in fact its the opposite. its designed so that you can play whenever and however long you want. if you get bored you take a break and when in a day/week/month/year you decide you want to play again you can just jump right back in where you left off.
so what ps4 is coming out and there are going to be new games. when was the last time you played a new console game with more than 6 hrs of content which made you stop playing everything else you own forever. i still have ps2 and xbox games i play which were replaced years ago by newer so called better games.
people talk about planetside 2 like its a miracle game to end all other games forever. its not. it good don't get me wrong but it is far from perfect. it is just persistent battles for no benefit whatsoever.it gets tiring very fast. i loved it for the first month i played it, made some war movies, sub'd and then i hit the wall. i just couldn't bring myself to waste my time anymore. it just died instantly for me during a battle for the same buildings on the same tiles on the same planets i have been fighting on every day for a month and i wasn't going anywhere.
yes i will be getting a ps4, yes i will be playing ps2 which i will stop playing again a few weeks later, i will buy up all the new games that i would like to try and comp them all in 6hrs or less like every game before them. i will play destiny for hours and hours. then guess what, i will turn off the ps4, turn on my ps3, load up dust, read my mails and then set my alarm for the next pc fight or corp op we decide to do or just do some random fights. all this while afk playing eve online on 2 accounts (yes i dont have a life) |

Dust is very much going to be a niche game much like MAG was. It will never have overwhelming numbers of folks playing it like BF3, Cod or other games. Guess what, that is fine. MAG lived a very long time being a niche game even after lots of us left it to go to other games. The hardcore maggots kept it alive. The hardcore Dust fan base reminds me of those die hard mag players. They can keep it going for awhile. They better spend real life money on it though. CCP is not supporting it out of the kindness of their hearts. I can see it lasting another full year on ps3 then being ported over to ps4 in 2015 or at least I hope it will not be any later than that. Some folks wont get a ps4 right away, but eventually lots that do not, will cave in and then get one. dust will need to be on ps4 when that time comes. I hope they have a plan to bring it over and if not, then they should consider making it a PC game. I think the game could thrive as a PC game more so than console. |

thnx for the long explanation (not sarcasm) plenty of people here have said that the PS3 will last a couple more years so I suppose you guys are right. But I really think that they went for the PS3 because they'll have more players on the PS3 than they would have on the PC. |

Ya maybe not GTA-V FTW, I heard PS2 doesn't let you customize as much as you can in Dust. But the community here will leave and split off into other games. Until a PS4 version comes out, or we may not all even leave yet. If CCP has a surprise in 1.4 that'll keep us entertained, and in other updates also. |

I strongly disagree with peeps saying this should go for PC (computer). The whole point of making a new game in the same universe that is vastly different and on a console is to attract a whole new player base. I'm really surprised by how many EVEO players there are here. Sure, the F2P business model may suit better on PC, and especially a game of this type - from CCP - that should be in constant development with frequent updates and expansions. But Sony are themselves releasing a F2P game, and some more are on the road, which means the industry is aware of this, most importantly the console maker. Much have happened in the gaming industry during the time the PS3 has been around. Changes have been substantial. Back then there where virtually no smartphones. I think there is room for a game like Dust on a console. Heck, there _has_ to be. If not, there is no need for consoles at all. PC and handheld devices could fill the void. Sony and MS must make sure they are still relevant for gaming, and kinda reinvent the market. They must make an effort to show everyone that they have the best gaming platfrom. They can't expect to be that. So far, Sony have done very well IMO.
Back to Dust. The point is to break new borders. Not make something that has already been iterated dozens of times.
Kb/m support is as far "PC" suport goes. I hope. If they go PC totally, me and everyone I convinced trying Dust are gone for good. |

Agreed Dust 514 seems fine on consoles for now, if they could make a PC version that would be on the tranquility server just like us PS3 players that would be cool. |

zzZaXxx wrote:Basically agree with what you're saying except that I don't think it's too late. Everybody likes a comeback story. If CCP stays committed to it and it can stay in stable condition for long enough DUST is likely to eventually realize its potential. When that time comes there will be a marketing push and people that tried it before will try again and be impressed. New folks will join in and it will have a healthy niche in the shooter market. It's like a premature baby that has to be kept under constant monitoring and care in the hospital until it grows stronger. CCP seems to be trying its best to give it the best care possible. They probably shouldn't have induced so early but that's in the past. Hopefully players can keep its heart beating for long enough because it is special and it can be great.
If it's not too late then how much time do you think CCP will have? Even of it isn't too late I think that they still won't be fast enough to get things right and deliver. |
