The main threat to Dust is the PS4. Although it will be F2P, so will Planetside 2(and some other war game I can't think of), and like it or not it, has more favorable reviews than Dust. I really can see Sony cutting Dust off.

I think Sony might be more inclined to lend CCP support first.

Honestly it would be a lot smarter if they kept them close but not too close for comfort. They have actually placed their competition right in their pocket really. I wouldn't move CCP anywhere but where they wanted to go, following everything they innovate with my own content.

That in mind however, their are virtues (or rather lack their of ) in New Eden that Planetside can never even hope to compete with. Market, Single Shard, and Meta to say the least, but the primary is a decade old political community merging with a bunch of teenage FPS players and collaborating. If they can still pull this off...damn, I'm not sure there's ever really going to be something this experimental fun for a while

PS4 is coming out soon and there is very little or no reason at all for many people to stay on the PS3 to play a game that needs so much more content,fixes and weapons balancing.

This game won't die because of PS4, this game is going to die because it just sucks and there are so many much better games coming out for both PS3 &4.

Why do people think that everybody will smash their PS3 as soon as the PS4 is being released? Why does everybody think that the PS3 will be worthless, as soon as the PS4 is released? Geez. I still play PS2-Games nowadays!

The release of the PS4 is irrelevant, because you still have people with a PS3. Many people won't even buy a PS4 before there are enough games released for it. And so many will probably only start thinking about buying one as soon as the PS4 Slim is being released. And even then their PS3 won't suddenly stop working and many of the PS4 owners who also have a PS3 will boot up their PS3 every now and then. Maybe they will even just boot it up to play Dust.

I would REALLY appreciate when people would stop thinking that the upcoming PS4 release is the end for Dust.

Get ready, PS4 is coming. I'll probably try to keep up with the weekly cap... however it will only be for a few weeks, realistically.

And I won't be the only one.

MCC camping will be intense for about a month and a half after release of PS4.

Then it will bleed out. Dust will stay around because a lot of EVE players will still play but you may see a player base of 1500-ish on good days.

Where is CCP going to get the money to keep funding this project?

Show of hands of how many vet's, or people who have been here 6+ months who have recently purchased anything in game?

Would love to see a graph of people spending $$ on this game since uprising came out.

Couple all the in game flaws of graphics, balance, aiming, hit detection, lav's, etc etc. The "end game" is supposed to be PC, but the problem here is that it is too easy for the few/minority to ruin that aspect of the game as well.. wether they are awoxing, spamming broken weapons, or hiring the best players in the game to fight for them when they are going to lose, its all just a big broken pile of ****.

There is plenty reason for people to stay on PS3, sony is still using the 10 year life plan, lot's of great games will still be released for it.. and do you know how long it took for the majority to switch from PS2 - PS3?

Yeah it kinda does suck.
If it didn't suck more people would be playing it.

Everyone knows that as soon as the PS4 comes out, Sony will hit the killswitch that will render inert all PS3s across the globe. Then the PS4 will come preloaded with Planet Side 2, where you can spend $7 worth of station cash to buy a "new" gun that is a clone of the basic model, just with different stats, and reskins are a couple dollars more. Then you can go and fight the subscribed members, who're earning cert points 2-3x as fast as you are and are tens of ranks ahead of you within a couple of weeks.

Seriously, just as much stupid **** goes on in PS2 as in DUST514, PS2 just has larger, persistent maps with controls that are a bit tighter.

Sony said themselves that they aren't giving up on the PS3 that's way Destiny and other games are going to be made for both consoles
