People will play a flawed, but interesting game. They will not play a flawless but boring (to them) game.
Thus new content, especially pve, should be the highest priority for now. At least until reviews are sounding like "Dust is cool, but buggy as hell" instead of "Dust has nothing to offer". |

Actually focusing on Core Mechanics IS the most important thing right now simply because whenever CCP tries to add new things, they totally break their game; and not just from a balance perspective, but a technical one. Like it or not, the game needs to be fixed at the core level (since Beta failed to accomplish this) before CCP can start laying their dreams on top of their reality. Nope. this isn't working, and has never worked. Dust has no reason to exist because it offers nothing new. It will not help to make the game more playable if it has no reason to exist. Boring is dead. People will tolerate flaws, like they do with all games, if the game has a reason to exist. Ask yourself this "When I'm browsing for a new game to buy, or get into, do I look for games that seem to be new and interesting and offer me a new experience, or do I look for a dime store copy that plays pretty smoothly?" Right now, we're playing the dim estore copy.
What part of "No one wants to play this kitten game because the controls kitten suck" don't you understand? |

That's not why no one wants to play. That's why some people leave. There's a big difference. No one wants to play a dime store copy at all, because it's boring and offers nothing new.
This is currently the biggest problem in Dust. No new content is a much bigger problem than poor controls. Again, until reviews look like "Dust is fun and has new things to offer, but is held back by poor execution" we need new and innovative content. Currently we're playing a game that has no reason to exist because it offers nothing new. Reviews are more like "Dust isn't worth your time". You "polish the controls above all" guys are helping CCP go in the wrong direction.

Correct me if I'm wrong.
Because CoD is so easy to pick up and play... it is boring. Because CoD actually gives me good feedback when I shoot and kill a person. It is Boring. Because CoD actually has good thumbstick sensitivities, accelerations for moving around and looking around (And good aim-magnetism mechanics). It is Boring. Because CoD is 100x better than Dust in every aspect. It is Boring.
Dust is cool, because it arbitrarily locks me out of content with a time sink... to simulate depth. And that is "interesting".
You know why a game like MAG failed? Because in reality. The Super Large 256 player matches...was not enough to overcome the fact that it played like ****!
Look at a game like PREY. Didn't last very long did it? But it was soooooo coool... no other FPS at the time let you walk on walls and play on levels inspired by MC Escher. It played like **** though.
Some of the more recent Turok games? You got it....even random raptors during multiplayer matches interferring is not enough to overcome a FPS that plays like ****.
If it looks like an FPS, and is trying to play like an FPS. Then it needs to focus on being an FPS. FPS's that play like ****... don't survive. And this has nothing to do with depth.
You know what depth in an FPS shooter is translated from?
The amount of competition out there.
5000 vs 350000
The FPS with the larger amount of opponents in it..... has more depth. Because that is all the depth that it needs. Because one person plays different than another. So if a game is becoming boring to you.... It's because you are boring.
Honestly? Do you really think that... the easier it is to pick up and play a game... the more boring it is?
Or maybe you're just one of those people that can't handle playing a game in which I guy with less time invested than you is better than you? I've met plenty of those types...
"I've dedicated years of my life to this game, just to get stomped by someone who started a month ago? I ******* hate this game!"
That is the dividing factor... The thing that sets EVE and Dust apart from the rest. It lets you no-lifers take full advantage of the amount of time invested and puts skill to the wayside. Just so you can feel superior because you have more time invested. If that's what you call innovative? **** me.... the gaming industry is ******. did you play bf3 the first day it came out if you did you know it was terrible Ghost recon future soldier had a lot of bugs as well they both lasted for a while bf3 still has a solid player base because they keep adding new content also bf3 worried about nerfing weapons after they fixed all the bugs and they where still bringing out new content |

DoomLead wrote:Dust delivered one thing that was great. I made friends and enemies and I think 99% of the people that play this game who joined a corp made a lot of friends so dust delivered this with the exception of the PVE against drones this video highlights all that is good about dust deny it if you want to. Dust failed to deliver thisI am tired of ppl asking for glitter. I don't want more guns or cars or even custom painted dropsuits. I want a reason to want to keep playing - in a persistent world where actions are supposed to have consequences, I want a setting where what I do makes some difference. This was the grand promise of Dust back in the E3 2011 trailer. PC is dead. FW literally is meaningless to me. Killboards are a joke, basically it's a grind to keep up with the vets. And the game offers nothing else. What you set out to give us back in E3 2011 is all we want just have every single person on every single dev team watch the trailer you released in 2011 and have them ask themselves how can we deliver this with what we have now. I am not talking about the graphics I am talking about: "Pay my price and I'll strike down the heavens." "I fought your war a thousand times." "And won them all, and I know this is the moment that will change everything." "On this day the blood I spill will bring down an empire and the world will burn before your very eyes." "They will remember us, and they will remember what happened here." "On this battlefield 1 shot can change the course of history and you're going to be the one that takes it." I want to bring down empires I want the battles I fight to change the course of the history on New Eden. Think about how great it would have been if the skyfire battery was up and available for the battle for caldari prime and one of us would have got the chance to blow that titan out of the sky. Do you remember that we couldn't even pick the side we fought on thefore none of those battles meant anything to me because I couldn't chose one side over the other. Specifically to the community stop whining about this is op and it needs a nerf and instead watch the 1st link I posted and be happy you met some good people friends and enemies alike. Then watch the second link and start hitting the forums with ideas on how to deliver the promise of dust cause I can live with bugs that will be eventually be fixed. However we were promised to be able to fight for something not the bs that is PC and FW right now.
Yes this is what's suppose to make dust unique, FW is the only thing that we can participate in that affects the EVE universe. However we don't even feel the affect, would be nice to have some kind of news channel in our quarters to inform us of whats going on in FW on our side and the EVE side. But right now we're fighting blindly not knowing if the FW battle that we're in is making any affect in EVE. |

Nope, I actually bought BF3 about 2 months ago..and have only played it for a total of about 6 hours or less.
I don't like BF3's emphasis on vehicular combat accounting for 99% of what happens in a match.
Halo 1 had it right. Bloodgulch with 1 warthog for each team. Classic. Vehicles play a large role but do not dominate the entire match. Lately these FPS that provide vehicles have lost sight of the "Foot Soldier"
And I'm pretty certain Dust is following in BF3's footsteps as far as Vehicles are concerned. Soon enough the foot soldier will be considered obsolete in the face of an entire team that can each individually run around in tanks, dropships, LAV's and whatever else CCP might eventually add to the game.

They were focusing on "content" for a year or whatever now with nothing to show.
Now they're focusing on the "core gameplay"
Don't expect aiming to work until a year from now and don't expect content for atleast 2 years. |

Good. I'm glad someone brought up S8:P.
You know why S8:P failed?
Because they took the core aspect of playing an FPS and gave it to the AI.
The auto-aim.... it literaly killed any reason to continue playing that game.
Sniping? Aim the first shot.. then click the "Auto-aim" to finish.
One of the core's of FPS's... is player skill. That game completely shat all over that aspect.
Just like Dust. Player skill means nothing.
S8:P became nothing more than... guys who had enough time invested to have the pulse cannon unlocked vs those who didn't. |
