Not entirely sure I like your tone in this question but I'll bite. One vet accounted for. Still here because I like this game and nothing has happened that I felt was worthy of changing that opinion. Funny cult mass suicide joke there. I don't follow ccp much and never heard of them before this game so I'm not a fanboy or whatever. However I do think this game will progress into something great down the line. |

I still play but not nearly as much as I used to. Used to cap out at most 2 days after the sp reset; now I'm lucky if I play enough to cap out before it resets again. I didn't even play enough during the 3x sp event to cap out. |

I think you should be asking how many "Newbies still here", Vets will always be around, and so is Fanboys. I remember about 200 Diehard Vets from Freespace 2, keep it the game going for about 2 years by paying for the servers from their own pocket.. they even made their own Stats Server, and chat lobby server...Actually... I hope CCP is not looking at me for player retention stats.. i was one of that Donkeys. |

I was one of the first few thousand allowed into the closed beta. Back then we had to sign up, and if we were lucky they would let us in. Ive been playing since late june/early july of last year, and I haven't stopped playing fo rmore then two weeks at a time. |

Closed beta vet here. I however, am only here in spirit. Like Piercing, my gaming time is limited these days so I have to pick and choose carefully what I play when I get the chance. Sadly it has not been Dust for the last two months since Uprising is terrible. I however, do wish the game would succeed, so I just sit back and wait for it to do so before returning. |

I started on my Heavy character at the tail end of closed beta.
Switched this toon into a tanker with Uprising, now mostly play this while AFKing my heavy. Both have around 12 million SP.
Not being an infantry player for the first month of Uprising saved the game for me. If I had not had this toon to put into a tnaker role I probably would have just quit.
Still having trouble going back to ground fighting, it just is so unsatisfying with all the BS currently in the infantry balance. |

This 'look down our nose at noobs' attitude is nauseating. The game needs noobs to become vets so the player base grows to a financially viable level. If you spent more time thinking about how ccp could improve the game for vets and noobs alike, the game might have a chance to meet its potential some day. |

I'm still here :D i even remember when DS's were free, and fuel injectors made you go x100 the normal speed, often launching you into structures with ease. And the pain of having only Logistics to fly and no assault was so bad.... glad we can at least shoot at people ourselves now.. |

Been here since the end of E3, helping folks learn to fly dropships and giving feedback on them. Not enjoying being ignored and abused for my efforts, but I like to tell myself that one day CCP will take my advice to heart and DUST will have a viable pilot role.
I was lucky to find a great corp early on, and that makes the game fun even when its obvious shortcomings get really annoying. I don't think I would play just to grind "for the future" if it weren't enjoyable at all. Of course I'm hoping that it improves into the highly coordinated strategic shooter we were promised, but I'm not starry eyed. |

Been playing since first release of codes for the closed beta. back when swarm launchers were used more for anti-infantry then anti-vehicle.
And playing since that time and seeing the changes is the reason why i think this game will get better. |

One more vet reporting in, been playing since E3 2012, man I miss the old Manus Peek (spiky map) I really do. Honestly I still see allot of vets, I still play with the same 15-20 people that first took me in when I was a fresh clone blinded by all the CCP smoke and mirrors. We ditched TCD during the build before open beta and have our own corp going now. Still holding out hope for the future of this game, although I've gone from a near religious every day of the week play schedule to about three times a week now. |

I've been playing since Mordu's Private Trials but couldn't play for about the first two months of Chromosome because my internet connection didnt seem to be able to manage to sit through the download without dropping out for a second, and as the PS3 won't pick up the download where it left off I could never finish it. Australian internet - less reliable than stringing to cups together with a piece of shoelace.
I'm only just over 9 mil at the moment...enjoy the game for the most part, but endless pub matches are draining and FW isn't really much different. I very rarely hit the cap as I have other things I would rather do than bash my head against a wall for a few hours a day. That and my voice comms have been broken since I finally got to download Chromosome, so I'm forced to use EVE voice...which is great that I can, but EVE voice is at best incredibly unreliable and tends to take about half an hour to set up.
Makes it hard to get into a game that thrives on tactical teamwork when you can't communicate with your team. But I will keep playing every now and again, though the only reason I keep coming back and want to stick with Dust is that I am an EVE vet. If it wasn't for EVE I would never have spent a cent on Dust and would have given up a long time ago.
TL;DR. Vet here, and I'm not going anywhere. Though far less active than I used to be. |

Cannot remember the name of the build but i was part of the Mordu trials sign up wave, way back when swarmlauchers were essentially shotguns, scouts with said shotguns were immortal, if a heavy was spotted he was feared but could literally be run rings around and there was the game mode we now know as Skirmish 1.0 |

I get on maybe once a week, so I guess you could say I am a vet that still plays, but it's mostly a pretty bland and boring game to play nowadays. More maps, more game modes and I'll be cool. |

I suppose you could call me an open beta vet as I started at the end of January. I have managed to cap out every week since we moved to the weekly cap. However, I have just started to do slightly more obscure things in game. Last couple of weeks all I have done is snipe on domination. Only today I realised I have absolutely no SP invested in sniper rifles.
Until I did this I would stop playing once I capped.
Don't like playing in Ambush and OMS at the moment as I like to choose my spawn point and I currently hate the random spawn system. |

Never played Eve online and know almost nothing about ccp. I am just thinking positively. Treating the game like its high school with vet/cool guy cliques is not going to help improve the game. looking at how it can become financially viable while still keeping the vets happy is the only thing that has a chance to improve the game.
Don't know much about ccp, but they are company so if they don't figure it out, their business venture will eventually fail. We can help them figure it out. |

here since 06/03/12 still playing...i think it helps i only really play 3 days a week for 2-4 hours ..helps me not to get burnt out. |

skirm 1.0 ftw. I play now hoping that gameplay as awesome as that comes back. I want devs to feel like adding new matches and modes is easy - unbalanced or not. The point is fun, and that's what the early days were.

I've been playing since before E3 2012. & despite all the QQing, this game is vastly better today than a year ago. In terms of content, presentation, & gameplay. & still continuing to improve. This is the first time a console game has been developed like this, & personally I think CCP is doing an amazing job. |

Mordu's Trials around E3 time 2012.
Man was I a noob  but they were fun times, frustrating but fun. Back when heavies were to be feared, dropships squished you, dancing & hopping about like a lunatic, skirmish 1.0, tanks were . . . well tanks, dumb fire swarm launchers, massive amounts of SP & isk per match could be earned. Not forgetting hard freezes & disconnects & lots of other ****.
Most weeks I don't hit cap, just dive on when I can & play a few hours. It's been hard keeping the faith though CCP. |

Honestly, the only thing I've ever found truly agitating from this game is the Forums: General Discussions. No bug, freeze, hard-boot, or Nerf/Buff has ever even come close to the utter useless bitching that makes up the majority of these threads...and as such it both inspires and repels me all in one breath of humanity. |
