I think Ive held my tongue long enough being as this thing has been around for two months and nothing has been done about it despite having patience.
More splash damage than a Mass Driver. Including Breach variant.
I should also point out that it has higher splash damage than a LARGE MISSILE TURRET Little arch, good accuracy, no charge up time.
One of the very few weapons that has increasing splash radius through Advanced/Proto variants, making it easy to use and forgiving on missed rounds.
Direct damage is very close to a Mass Driver, we're talking a difference of 30 damage.
Being a sidearm, its easy to fit. So easy in fact, anyone but Logistics can fit two of the damned things.
Amplified armor damage.
Now lets put this into perspective... This thing has become incredibly popular, so much so that people are naming characters after them. Forge Guns and Plasma Cannons do more direct/splash damage but theyre limited by their charge times and low ammo counts. There is no excuse as to why they do more splash damage than Mass Drivers and Missile Launchers, and frankly it doesnt even make sense in terms of payload. Splash Radius is very forgiving considering you will only ever be aiming this thing at peoples feet or directly on them. Then you have the accuracy, which in and of itself takes away any semblance of proper balance with weapons that also have splash damage like charge up time, low fire rate or low magazine capacity.
People.. This isa freaggin Sidearm.. Its a -PISTOL- and its somehow managed to usurp the Mass Driver, which is intended to be its big brother. There arent any balancing acts on this weapon and because of that everyone and their mother uses it because its easy to use, forgiving and further more insanely easy to spec into. I personally have killed LAVs/HAVs with this and have seen it wreck dropships. It fulfills the Plasma Cannons role and amazingly enough that weapon has chargeup time and arch to keep it from being all over the place.
Imo, something needs to be done about this. Theres no reason this weapon should be replacing Light arms when it is, in fact, a Sidearm. Theres no reason it should do more splash damage than VEHICLE TURRETS. There is no reason any of these factors should have lasted TWO MONTHS.
So yeah. Start your flame war, Ive held my tongue long enough. I want to die by an Assault Rifle once in a while. |

I haven't run into them at all yet; although, I've seen footage of them in action...
Seems like they require at least some skill to accurately aim at and kill the target but, the way I've seen people spamming them is a little ridiculous. Also, CCP said they were planning on releasing an ISK variant. |

Second of all people over exaggerate the power of a flaylock its impossible for it to one shot a heavy third instead of standing there shooting jump around and kill him while they reload. Use strategy its not hard |

Damage per clip wise, it still loses to the ol' ar, but Damage per shot is increased, and fitting is reduced. Sounds a bit powerful right? But it means you have to actually AIM, something the flYlock also has, 1 meter splash, compared to the MD's 6. Now the flaylock might need a nerf, or better yet, let's buff everthing else so it's not AR vs flaylock. I refuse to allow whiny kittens like you ruin all, EXCEPT. The goddMn ar.every single update we get buffs the ar in SOME way. Leaving niche players in the 'dust' |

Bull, Dual Flaylock is outperforming the Standard and Breach MD. Flux, and they can take out 3 people faster than they ever could, the RoF is just too high for them to compete. The standard MD has 5.0 splash, which is irrelevant when all you're going is aiming at the feet, while the flaylock DPS is vastly superior. Assault has a higher splash, but even with Flux Nades you will never be able to take down a Heavy with a HMG before dying, or anyone without Nade/team support. Flaylock Pistols are not niche, everyone is using them because they are too effective at what they do. |

It's almost unbearable trying to armour tank in this game with LLAV's running you down because you cannot run or jump, Mass Drivers are back ((COOLIO missed the minnies having something good)) though they now are more or less insta kills on amour players like me, and now effing flay locks which have absurdly high splash damage, bonus to armour damage, all at about 200ish DMG per hit..... tack on that 35% bonus ad man you have a two hit wonder.....
Reminds me of when people were calling for Fromsoft to nerft the Darkmoon blade back in DKS.... two hit wonder. |

So, using a single flux grenade (obviously as the flaylock does less damage to shields) it is very possible to one-shot an unskilled Heavy. You did not say itwas impossibpe to one shot a Heavy with Armor Plating, or a Heavy with skills in Armor Upgrades, just that it was impossible.
The math doesnt lie, and if a new player comes inwith skills just in being able to use a heavy suit (93,280 SP) an HMG (335,800) and the prerequisites for Armor Upgrades (24,870) they would have just under 50,000 SP left. Thereby, yes, it is entirely plausible that a Flaylock, with assistance from a single flux grenade, can one shot a heavy if conditions are right.
But that isnt the issue - the issue is that even if thefucker misses he's still doing 374 damage with the splash and a second shot WILL kill the Heavy. Anyone else would be instantly killed.
Please dont try to defend whats obviously broken just becauseit gives you or your buddy an edge, its bad for the game's health. |

I ve been playing for 6 months an have 14 million sp an run nova knife scout , all my weapons are cqc weapons an mostly all sidearms due to the fact that it's usually more viable to fit 2 sidearms pg an CPU wise on a scout but the stats on a scout are so crap that fitting 2 weapons hardly happens unless one is crap an I sacrifice something else like shields or speed. So I seen the faylock on YouTube before it was released an thought damn gotta get one of those when it comes out. So I get lv 3 can't aim it barely used it after that. Then one day a core faylock obliterated me so I'm like I'm upping this thing to proficiency 3 , did it same day all at once from saved sp pack 2 on a gallente scout an proceed to test drive this byatch! I go 24/4 I'm like wholly crap this things ridonculous! I'm rokkin this for a while .! Two weeks later 3x sp comes along I see them In every match 3 or 4 users all core, I'm like aw shyt there goes the neighborhood ! So then I have to for survival reasons get a medium level 3 suit, ar, an a mass driver! I call it my A$$hGé¼)le fit! If I'm in a match I start scout with knives do my thing if I start dying to dummy going pshu pshu pshu! I pull out that fit an go pschu pshu pshu back, not cuz I want to more cuz I have to. Don't get me wrong watching bodies fly ALWAYS MAKES ME LAUGH! Lol except when it's mine, 9 x a match but now I seldomly die over double digit deaths an if I do it's from getting tired mad or sloppy. I do agree it's a serious gun an either other weapons come up or this goes down because I noticed ccp goes down not up, instead of increasing core or shield stats guns go down till you realize one day that you have a better chance one shot killing a guy wit a punch to the head than any weapon in the game! Now yes it killing eVRABADY, but are you looking at dude when he shoots? Or you shooting someone else taking damage an getting popped by SUPRISE ? Cuz that's how I do it or I bait them with a different weapon get em close an scream DIE DIE DIE as I fire 3 SUPRISE FU rounds cuz honestly if I'm looking at a guy an I fire an he's got a auto gun, smg or AR he kills me 80% or the time cuz a proficiency auto gun will win 99% of the time. For this reason I don't find faylock need that much of a nerf, they catch stupid players playing stupid, that's all! Plus ccp made a bloody sidearm ROCKET LAUNCHER, any major nerf steals the reality of what this weapon would actually do in real life. Don't ***** about the guns damage ***** about its existence period or figure a way to defend against it! Look on roofs, don't walk in bottle necked structures hell read the art of war! For every action there is a reaction find a way around it otherwise everyone that complains seems to be the type of person that's just gonna complain here till the game changes for all of us then they ll stop playing dust an go back to cod anyway so if that's the case buy some remote mines trap the faglock, blow him up an be proud that your wits won not crying like a kid that didn't get hhis own way! Deal with it, more strategic players are!

Sorry aeon dust realize it was ur post, trust me I hate em but as a guy that lost tons of sp to a scout class thats broken I gotta support this thing a little only cuz it's death power keeps my 250 hp butt alive an things got range, an it's the best knife backup weapon that fits on my suit. That an the fact that everyone wants damage nerfed which makes no sence to me it's a rocket . Personally I think MD should busta$$ like they used too an either make faylock a one shot reload, or a flux lock , or keep it the same an lower rof but only if it's done by a one shot then reload cuz changing rof doesn't make sence if it's still a 3 shot clip , it's a pistol it should be boom boom boom, unles it was like a sawed off shotty , high damage close range reload after every shot, but hey who knows I just think they should go flux lock . But till they beat it into the ground it balances my paper scout |

I would like to say as a non-proto logistics player, that I am SICK AND TIRED of being ONE SHOT KILLED REPEATEDLY BY A SIDE ARM!!! FIX THE GUN NOW >:( It should not be able to deal more damage than the freaking mass driver GRENADE LAUNCHER. WHAT THE HELL? Okay at first it was just a few guys but seriously almost everyone is specing into them. They are earning the name of the one SIDE ARM AS IN ONLY FOR BACKUP PURPOSES, that can deal 400+ damage NO MATTER WHERE THE HELL YOU GET SHOT! FIX THIS GUN PLEASE. I am already handicapped because I am a logistics, can you at least make it to where it is weaker than the freaking mass driver? Its a primary weapon for God sake. |

Scout being broken doesnt justify a weapon being broken. The Flaylock can beused by anyone, hell it can be dual wielded by anyone. Scouts are broken for other reasons. |

level 1 and gn-20 flaylocks are fine IMO, the core is beast. this one should receive a small dmg and splash nerf. but i have to say that there are more variables in this issue: scouts are using this gun because their suit is broken, matchmaking is broken which leads to noobs vs vets battles aka pubstomping and except perfect teamplay there is no other way to compete against the most unbalanced suit in this game (caldari logi) than to deal as much damage as possible, which the core-flaylock does. if all those problems will be fixed and the flaylock receives a slight nerf there wouldn't be that much complains.
btw: yesterday i instakilled 2 people by one-shooting their head with my klo-scrambler |

Killed three with a well placed Plasma Cannon round from a second story window. Than again, I use Proto PC and damage mods. |

One of the very few weapons that has increasing splash radius through Advanced/Proto variants, making it easy to use and forgiving on missed rounds.
Direct damage is very close to a Mass Driver, we're talking a difference of 30 damage.
Being a sidearm, its easy to fit. So easy in fact, anyone but Logistics can fit two of the damned things.
Amplified armor damage.
Now lets put this into perspective... This thing has become incredibly popular, so much so that people are naming characters after them. Forge Guns and Plasma Cannons do more direct/splash damage but theyre limited by their charge times and low ammo counts. There is no excuse as to why they do more splash damage than Mass Drivers and Missile Launchers, and frankly it doesnt even make sense in terms of payload. Splash Radius is very forgiving considering you will only ever be aiming this thing at peoples feet or directly on them. Then you have the accuracy, which in and of itself takes away any semblance of proper balance with weapons that also have splash damage like charge up time, low fire rate or low magazine capacity.
People.. This isa freaggin Sidearm.. Its a -PISTOL- and its somehow managed to usurp the Mass Driver, which is intended to be its big brother. There arent any balancing acts on this weapon and because of that everyone and their mother uses it because its easy to use, forgiving and further more insanely easy to spec into. I personally have killed LAVs/HAVs with this and have seen it wreck dropships. It fulfills the Plasma Cannons role and amazingly enough that weapon has chargeup time and arch to keep it from being all over the place.
Imo, something needs to be done about this. Theres no reason this weapon should be replacing Light arms when it is, in fact, a Sidearm. Theres no reason it should do more splash damage than VEHICLE TURRETS. There is no reason any of these factors should have lasted TWO MONTHS.
So yeah. Start your flame war, Ive held my tongue long enough. I want to die by an Assault Rifle once in a while.

The flaylock is just a abomination in the game. It probably has the highest DPS (damage per second) then any other weapon in the game. Cause you can spam it and the proto variant has a 2.5 meters blast radius with skills. This is even more then turrets mounted on vehicles regarldess if its small or large. In my opinion it needs multiple nerfs: -less blast radius -50% less splash damage -slower rate of fire You can keep the direct hit damage as it is at the moment so if you have aim and are skilled you should go for the direct hits and still deal alot of damage. Another concern for me is that the flaylock is the easiest to fit sidearm in the whole game. It uses less CPU/PG then all other sidearms and that includes nova knifes aswell. So tell me why does the highest DPS weapon in the game got the lowest fitting requirements? |
