No im not a kid and I hated cod as it's a mindless easy shooter, you shouldnt assume things and hows your reading comprehension? 'some sort of competitive multiplayer factor' doesn't sound like an actual on going PvP thing, many were led to believe in a world PvP experience, not what clearly would be a random match or horde mode, sorry I worded that wrong to begin with though and as I stated im on a phone, that wasn't meant to officially be a link but just something to type to get there.

I am extremely entertained at how many people act as if they can only buy...let alone play one game in a genre per generation. COD vs BF vs Halo vs Planetside 2 vs DUST!! Soon to be vs Destiny vs Division vs Titanfall!!! Absurdity I tell you. I try and play just about everything I'm interested in until I tire of it, and shelling out a few bucks for a game isn't going to crush my finances. This whole gamer solipsism is an outdated concept, and feeling the need to bash one game up against another is childish. Buy what you like...and play it....and shut up about it. I'm pretty sure I will still play DUST when destiny drops, and when one gets on my nerves I will focus on the other just like I do right now with Dust, COD and BF3. I cant include Halo 4 because I no longer have an Xbox, but if I did I would play that bs too from time to time. |

This page however, does exist, and mentions competitive MP. http://www.giantbomb.com/destiny/3030-36067/I'm honestly starting to think you're like those kids on COD who think they're all BA. What happened to gaming? Why are there so many people who were called nerds for playing games, but then when all this competitive military FPS crap came out, everyone loves gaming?
Good point.
Having stated that, I do want PvP and I do want PvE. I don't want JALS*, I do want open world free roam.
Am I saying that there couldn't be a lobby shooter option available in the open world-- no.
I do want all of this in Dust.

Serimos Haeraven wrote:MlDDLE MANGEMENT wrote:Serimos Haeraven wrote:When the developers of the the recent Halo's and Call of Duty were making this game, i knew it would be a completely flop. They are masters at building a ton of hype that idiotic little kids buy into, but i have known better since halo 3, and call of duty 4. Erhm, Halo 3 was Bungie's eff you to MS since they were locked into project and a contract they just didn't want. The originators of COD are making Titanfall and that game is indeed looking better and better. Titanfall is also a great example of how Activision can't actually develop anything truly new. They say that they are starting from scratch, when if you watch gameplay it's obvious they are still using repeated textures used in call of duty, the environment even practically looks the same as a CoD game when you watch the gameplay. That's the thing about bungie and Activision, they claim they are the innovative force in the gaming industry, when in-fact they are one of the least innovative in the entire business. And Halo 3 wasn't the only error in Bungie's long list, you also have Halo Wars (just a typical strategy game with halo slapped on the name), ODST (should have just been a simple dlc), and even movies made after Halo. They profited on the fact they could keep repeating the same **** over and over again and people would buy it. Same thing happened with Call of Duty. It doesn't take much to keep repeating the same thing that gives you easy profit, but it's a whole new ball game when you decide to truly innovate every title you release.
Activision isn't producing this. The two originators (well one now) of COD who used to work on MOH who had a massive falling out with Activision when they ****** them out of bonuses they deserved and were fired from activision for breach.
Yea those guys who were gonna take a break got numerous offers and they demanded that anything they create they retain the IP in the end 2 publishers would agree to it, THQ and EA. Fortunately they chose EA.
I recommend you read this months issue of gameinfomer has a real good article on titanfall and yea its not entirely new IP. They couldn't use the infinity ward engine since Activision owns it and building an entirely new engine from scratch would take too long so they used Valve's source engine (Left 4 Dead, Half-Life 2, Portal) and gutted and tweaked it to push their benchmark 60 FPS standard.
As to you previous points just shows your ignorance coupled with your bias.
Bungie was locked into a contract with MS and had no intention of going beyond Halo 3 and even that they really didnt want a a 3rd but had no choice, as I said earlier everything 3 and after was a giant FU to MS and them simply fulfilling their contract.
Infinity ward after losing West and Zampanella which was right after MW 2 had basically brought in other teams to work on the games, so that's yet again a issue of publisher domineering over developer, has nothing to do with the devs themselves.
Which brings me back to the point I made earlier Respawn retains the IP for Titanfall, so while EA maybe publishing it, Respawn can go tell EA to eff themselves if they try to strongarm their creative process of which they have some really great ideas and the way the game plays as what they term a campaign multiplayer is really looking good.
So drink that haterade all you want but these games are all still better then dust and they aren't even out yet. |

Yeah, I mean, it's going to be a great game. PvP doesn't really matter that much. Not every game has to be competitive...
Destiny won't be open world either, but it will be very open with different places to go to. |

Its open world, but I read the giant bomb article and it here is the direct quote
Player-versus-player combat will not be a factor out in the general world, but the game will feature some sort of competitive multiplayer component.
So this suggests there wont be any open world ganking available which though disappointing makes sense given how frustrating it can be to players who just want to PVE that get interfered with.
But that doesn't mean there wont be any PVP of any kind. Also if you don't think Bungie with a 10 year roadmap wont expand on the initial iteration and fiddle with some sort of persistence aspect then you underestimate Bungie and its ability to recognize that is where the shooter genre is heading for competitive MP experiences. |

At least preface that saying a section or subsection - even if you are tollish say a vast majority.
Until AI is such that PVE can offer a varied enough experience to "fool" a certain section of the public, they will always prefer PVP
Also there is nothing wrong with competition, it can bring out good as it does bad.
Some PVE can be fun and who prefer that play it but others like knowing and experiencing unpredictability and sometimes a known predictability. |

If you find PvE Boring and predictable, than that means you literally play nothing except competitive multiplayer games like Dust.
Talk about BORING. Shoot someone with a gun on the SAME map over and over. Now, what can AI do to you that other players can't? Well I've been playing the last of us since it came out and I've been surprised and beaten by the AI several times, it's not perfect but it's better than most games, they constantly flank me, grab me from behind, yell out to their friends where I'm at, what gun I have, etc.. It's not always predictable. |

But I understand what your saying but my view on pve is that after about 15 mins you know the way the ai works and then it'd just rofl stomp, players are far less predictale I find, ai is a system figured out very quickly and then very repetitive im not just on about fps either, mmos, rts |

I'm not saying it's just FPS. I've always preferred playing alone than against people. I like stories, that's why I like RPGs so much. You'll find that's how it was mostly. Then it seems, here comes 2007. Modern Warfare, what's single player?
SP has been screwed over by so many games lately for multiplayer, I think there needs to be more single player games, and not 4-5 hour things like COD or BF.
