Sometimes I wonder if people know there is a thing called armor tanking. I was just in a 2v1 fight, I dropped both of their shields (Caldari) and they went to cover. They threw a flux grenade at me, and tried to rush in with their shields still only 1/4th of the way until fully charged. I murdered both of them.
This kind of stuff happens way too frequently. And it's not like they didn't know what I was, we were in spitting distance, we could clearly see our suit types.
What, are they expecting me to shield tank in a Gallente suit? Ridicu... Wait... Even that's more effective than armor tanking. Never mind. |

No one is coming threw that door or round that corner while we have that setup going ! 2 hives are destructible. A rep requires you to have one less gun firing, a standard AR with no skills or damage mods does 430 DPS.
My setup gives me enough DPS to kill you beforea rep cycle even happens.
Mind you, armor is extremely vulnerable to grenades, and your two nanohives? Destroyed. So all I need to do is throw a little grenade and laugh.
Lastly, to get that you need to be a logi. Assault as usual is inferior to a logi >_> |

Yes the hives are destructible ( tho they have 2x the hit points of a normal hive 400) but they have a almost 9m range.. further than any grenade .
And yes it takes some small piece of team work to get going but i can tell u now it works VERY well.
If your set up lets u charge my 950 hit point 2x complex damage mod duval while i am getting repaired then u have a very very nice setup .... better than 99% of everyone else we encounter ( and u say u run armor so what u complaining about ???)
As for logis being better than assault ......yes i would say that some of them are way OP but some are in a good place

Let me explain to you how it works: The repairers only rep every 1 second. That means, if I can kill you within that one second, those reps don't do ****.
In addition, that's as edge case as edge case can get, that setup requires huge SP + ISK + team work investment. |

If only those hives would regenerate, I hate being stuck near a supply depot. Also, low level armor tanking doesn't have access to that, and that's where armor sucks the most. |

You brought up something that a lot of people overlook: the SP investment of shields vs armor. Most shield tankers could max out extenders and just buffer tank since shields regen automatically. Armor has to invest in plates and repair modules to be survivable, and then nanocircuitry to be effective.
As far as nanohives go, we need more variants where we can carry more, or at least be able to retrieve them after we're done using them. |

Gallente are the last suits that really need to use the repper hives since you can just regen tank and stack damage mods. Maybe when hybrid sidearms come out, you can free up some space for at least the K-D hives.

I showed someone a Gallente fitting where they can stack damage mods, get 20~22 HP/s regen on their suit, and he went 19-3 the following round, only dying to a LLAV twice, and a sniper. The strafe speed change was a huge buff to armor since armor tankers have a constant HP regen that really comes in handy if you have some good footwork. It also made regen tanking more viable and shield energizers a must have for shield tankers that can't strafe... like CaLogis. |

Also, your fit doesn't allow me to use anything else, armor repairers are CPU intensive and take the same slots as CPU enhancers. And I got electronics and engineering maxed out.
I mean really, my problem isn't PG, it's CPU. Can't even put a grenade or a nanohive while using a GEK. |

I've been playing with the new armor mods since they came out and have come to the conclusion: Meh. Those mods seem better suited for Caldari shield tankers.
So I went back to good ol complex plates and complex repper for 642 armor. Almost feels like running in a heavy suit but it works. Logi's with reps seemed to follow me around everywhere I went.
Think I'll start skilling into Minmatar for speed. |

That's the idea. Hit and run tactics with less downtime since you have full armor in less than 10 seconds. With the damage mods, you don't need a buffer because you kill fast enough. Shields can only buffer tank, armor is versatile. |
To be quite honest that's the worst fit I ever saw. (Out of the serious fits that is, joke fits don't count) Here is something that I constantly get 20+ kills with and a max of 3 deaths: 2x CDM 1x Complex extender 2x Complex reps 2x Basic plates Nanohive Locus grenade Duvolle AR SMG
Though my Caldari fit on my alt is way better than this, but it works.
I like this fit, i would probably drop a plate or repper for a cpu upgrade to slap on a K-2 and core locus though, the core locus are too delicious to give up.

Core locus is the same CPU/PG req as the normal locus, so go ahead. Also, I did the math, if you upgrade your light weapons to lvl IV and Gallente assault to IV, you get just enough CPU to fit a K-2. I'm working on it as we speak. |

Ah yes, i did not take into consideration your assault bonus, i sometimes forget the exist because most bonus's are crap. There are only 2 assault suits cappable of running this type of setup without a fitting mod and all i see is the damn caldari one. I know everyone loves shield tanking but i really do feel the amarr and gallente assault suits are the best, as far as assault suits go IMO. |

Since shield is high slot you can use CPU/PG upgrades, and those give you far more than -25% CPU/PG on hybrid weaponry. |

which leaves you with 2 slots to run what? you will want a repper in one and a plate or regulator in the other. To me with your setup you have a good regen rate for both your hp values, the caldari assault really cant unless he has no plates for all reps and then has 150 which sucks. Even if you just focus on your shield i still think hybrid tanking is superior but i just prefer the regen rate to big buffer. I have been there with the caldari assault suit before respec, i really do feel it is not up to par with the other 2 i mentioned. |

The problem is that when pure Shield/Armor tanking, Caldari shield tanking is superior in every way to Gallente armor tanking. Really the only reason I put an extender on is because anti armor weaponry does ridiculous amounts of damage to us (Anti shield weapons = 120% damage to shields, Anti armor weaponry = 135% damage to armor), so I would get two shotted by flaylocks or one shotted by grenades constantly. This also means that 400 armor < 400 shields. |

Yeh i do get what your saying man and i do agree, going completely in one direction shields is better than armour, but going down both roads is way better than just one. The setup your using is a good one, one of the guys i play with from nyain san uses a similar setup and he beasts all over everyone. |

I would say one of his setups is pretty much just that, he runs core nades and k-2 though, he has a few different loadouts. He even used to run kin cats at one stage but i dont think he does it anymore, he used to have 327 armour and now he has over 400 so id say double stacking plates is best. I dont wanna speak on his behalf though, he is a very friendly guy so i doubt he would care about me saying this, all i will say is that based on his performance the setup you have is good. |

I was lazy last night, just sniping my way through some matches. No wonder I couldn't kill you.

he even knew I had a officer rifle from killing him 30 seconds earlier. sucks that just after the fight a damn militia sniper from the mcc caught me in the head piece :\ Yeah... To be honest snipers are too easy to use. No risk, all the reward, and in addition to that it's so easy! Snipers are hitscan. What they need to have is ballistics, drop off, travel time, etc'. |

Never mind. Obviously Halo players are obvious. |

Also, what's your speed?
Gallente logi so built in 5hp/sec and then I run Allotek hives and some times Wyrkomi. so I never have a problem with regen. |

Gallente are the last suits that really need to use the repper hives since you can just regen tank and stack damage mods. Maybe when hybrid sidearms come out, you can free up some space for at least the K-D hives. HP buffer > Regen This is Dust in a nutshell Argh... nonsense. Sorta.

Unless your using an advanced with stacked damage mods or a prototype sniper rifle its more of an annoyance than anything else. Two triage Wiyrkomi will keep me up through most gun fights and sniper annoyances while I find them and point my team towards them though people using militia sniper rifles, its like gnats buzzing around... |

I really to like armor, but as it is now with ALL the Flux and MDs around, me as a armor tanker is pretty ******.
One flux empty my shields, and then it is noobtube and MDs ALL the time, you can't even see or move, explosions everywhere. Sometimes I see a squad of 6 people running this strategy: if they approaches you, they toss grenade all the time, flux and contact, after that, all of them have a MD and if you survive 6G/2S = 3G/1S = 3 grenades per second you getting eaten by the AOE of the MD, they donGÇÖt even aim. CanGÇÖt wait for this thing to get nerved again, what a pain!
