They offer very little in terms of bonuses and come with disadvantages that outweigh those bonuses.
The Ferroscale, sure it doesn't have a speed penelty but the complex version only gives 60hp. That's more than 20 less than the enhanced armor plate.
The Reactive Plates, sure they heal themselves but they have a speed penalty; the complex version only gives 40hp with 2hp repping and a 4% speed penelty. 40hp? You'll be dead before the armor rep kicks in.
And to top it all off each level of these plates cost more CPU & PG than their "equivalents" in regular armor plates. With such disadvantages there's currently no point in choosing them over regular armor plates. I know I'll be sticking to regular armor plates and armor repairers. |

If you want armor plate HP level shield extenders, I cannot help you.
Instead of giving Armor useless mods, give shields a disadvantage. Then they both will have a reason to use them, and to not use them.

Here's an idea that's probably going to get a lot of hate for..
But.. In EvE, your sig radius determines your ability to be seen AND to have damage applied. Now, what if, the more shield extenders you have on, the bigger that hit detection box is.
Would make it more in line with Eve.. High Armor EHP means you're slow as hell, High shield EHP means you're easier to hit. |

I was getting ready to point out how bad this idea would be in practice, but then I thought if the larger hit area only applied to your shields as if it were a bubble around you, this could be portrayed graphically as well. As soon as your shields were down you would then have to connect shot with the body of your target to further damage them.
This sounds neat, but I highly doubt they would make the game like this. |

what if shield extenders puts a penalty on armor and armor extenders puts a penalty on shield (instead of movement)? |

I would probably put the weaker plates on a medium and light to keep my speed but still get a little armor repair. The heavier plates i would probably stack on my heavy as their speed is already ****. |

******* awesome. So you can use a normal Armor Plate and an armor repairer and you're better off then. |

The difference being that shields in Eve recharge immeidately as well. Additionally, they recharge more the closer to 0 shield HP you have. If you want it to work like Eve, it needs to work like Eve. Just a thought. |

The Amarr Ground Forces Omni-Tank, so then you would then be forced to take the penalty for trieing to use Armor, and then bring you shields back in line with shield Mods, at the same time gimping your armor.
It would make Full Tank Very Unusable |

I'd say make shield extenders slow down shield recharge, giving shield re chargers a use and making the buffer for shield tankers actually lower.
I'd also suggest lowering the enhancer's buffer, too. lowering the complex to 55 would be decent as well. |

your regen rate would still be way too slow.. You'd be better off putting 1 real repper and a movement enhancing module to offset the speed penalty of the plate vice the 1 ferro 1 reactive plates. |

i agree. the suits are supposed to be motor assistors. it would make sense that the machine is strong enough to move everything on it, but when more heavily burdened, just runs out of energy to perform.

As a Commando I can tell you that with only one low slot the Reactive Plates are a lifesaver. Also what is this about "it has a speed penalty, its automatically garbage." People put too much weight on the importance of speed, or moreso just how much these speed penalties are taking away. It's 4%, not 40%. |

OK i know this is going to sound out there but I love the new Armor plates. As a heavy I get a HP rep less drag on the ass and mix this with complex armor repair and I have over 8+ HP a sec. I cant complain. I am faster I heal faster and I am now more versatile, so any improvement I am all for. Just do not nerf them like you did the HMG, laser rifle, the shotgun, dropship's, tanks etc etc |

The speed penalty is not what makes the reactive plates garbage; it's the lack of hp and the fact that they take more cpu/pg than their equivalent in regular armor plates that makes them garbage. 40 hp & 2 hp rep from the complex reactive plate isn't saving your life. You'd be better off just equipping a complex armor rep.
With my base speed being higher than your commando's the speed penalties affect me more than they affect you and I'd still rather throw on a complex armor rep and take a 10% speed penalty from a complex armor plate than waste a slot on a ferroscale and/or reactive plate. |

Why should armor have a penalty at all? Even without it, it's still largely outclassed by Shield. |
