It actually feels more fluid in this build and less clunky. I don't have to break my controller when I want to run. I only played a few games so I don't know if it is just first impressions are not.
Now...I love the movement speed, it resembles MAG but will be harder to kill until the aiming and hit detectin is fixed. Although, I will try to adjust and be fine. My only concern is for the heavies, though. I don't want a speed nerf but I'm thinking that they may need a buff in the turning radius for their HMG. I don't know, maybe the heavies are ok....may need some feedback from them.
All in all....this patch is the first patch that I've seen where the improvements are good ones without huge flaws. Nice job CCP |

Going to have to give a full nod on the mechanics so far. The feel is fluid all round, wasn't a MAG player so I can't share the experience between the two. Over all the movement isn't half bad. Maybe a tweak to the heavies turn speed but it is still something I can leave with.
Visually the game is more than just coming along. Would have expected the visuals to be close to par when Unleashed hit, but a process that is being seen layer by layer. Other than balance between the shields and armor over all I don't really have much to really complain about, but the day is still young. |

If you're gonna buff a heavies turn speed, buff the scout's as well. Turn speed is what saves a scout vs a heavy, and we gotta keep our balance. |

So.. Raz, since you're a heavy and not a scrub heavy, I can ask you this....How is the heavy/HMG vs the assault/scout in this build? Are you able to deal with the new strafing speeds of the other classes with the HMG? |

I was dancing around heavies this morning and I'm just an assault. So, I'm assuming that scouts are even better. |

This build has shown, to myself, that players aren't moving quite as fast as they use too.. or rather it seems when up close, 5-10m, they are far easier to track. Because of all movement being a tad smoother we are seeing the smooth effect play into the way players are moving, which as stated before, they are moving at a smoother/slower rate. I've had players literally run up into my face and not shoot a single shot, taunting if you will, finding themselves dead far sooner than they expected. Though I'm capable of at lest 4-5 headshots on average this build. I don't play with a pray and spray mindset.
This isn't to say that the turn speed is something many can deal with. With the power the HMG has, which is only just enough, one needs to keep in mind the longer you hold the trigger the more accurate the weapon becomes. Because of this if an enemy is, 1-5m, you should use moderate burst fire with the weapon. The weapons retinal will compensate for the lack of turn speed. I've yet to really see how other heavies are dealing with the new movement in general. With the smoother movement being implemented the heavies are feeling the effect as well. I would like to have a few heavies give there thoughts. I've already adapted to the effect. Though that doesn't mean I wouldn't like a slight tweak, and I do mean a slight tweak, to the heavies turn speed. |

DDR 514 is back and as annoying as ever, even more so as a heavy because they can just dance back and forth at amazing speeds. CCP has no idea what they want to do for their game, dancing in a tanky FPS is just silly.
It's just like back in the before time, when people would dance the night away any time you get into a firefight. Why be tactical and stick to cover when you can juke and jive bullets?

Only two idiots would stand there and dance together and not hit each other.. If both of you are not hitting each other one or the other should learm to aim... Second if you constantly find your self being the only one at party dancing you should probably learn to squad.... |

Second if you constantly find your self being the only one at party dancing you should probably learn to squad.... Why should people be rewarded for dancing in the first place? Dancing is just stupid, particularly in CQC. It lowers the skill required to engage because it's much easier to track while strafing than to track someone who's randomly strafing. We already went through this a year ago and CCP removed it, but as usual, they like to randomly drop **** back into the game for giggles.
I'm a fatty, I don't dance. I was just getting used to playing tactically and then we go straight back to this....::facepalm:: They get the range fix right, and then give everyone back their disco shoes....who comes up with this stuff is beyond me |

High strafing speeds are great because they require the ability to be able to maintain aim on a target that is moving while you are also moving but the strafe speeds should be suit dependent, scout>assault>logi>commando>heavy

High strafe speeds with low bullet damage requires a lot of skill because you have to be able to maintain your aim of that target. You are a heavy which means you play with high HP and high dps so strafing isn't as important to you but to someone with less hp and low dps its everything. I quit dust when they first took it away months ago and I love it now that its back.
But I do agree about flaylocks and contact grenades they need to go. |

No it doesn't have you even played CoD? CoD would be like everyone in milita dropsuits and prototype weapons, everyone would die quickly and it would be based on whoever starts shooting first and it would make the MD the best weapon because it would be a OHK. Dust requires skill because you have to put a lot of bullets in the enemy and if the enemy has the ability to out strafe you and out aim you, you will die even if you shot first. When I first heard about this game almost 4 years ago the developers stated they wanted the gameplay to a cross between Halo and MAG and its finally getting there we don't have the bunny hopping which is fine (but adds to the skill IMHO) and we still don't have the team aspects of MAG but we are getting there. |

Strafing just encourages people to shield tank and to not engage their opponent tactically since they can just do the disco shuffle out in the wide open instead of encouraging them to break from cover to cover.
Basically strafing just drastically lowers the seriousness of the game because it's hard to say a game is tactical when your ability to hop left and right is more important than your ability to identify and stick to proper cover. |

COD is slow paced. Easier to track enemies, they don't bunny hop and can't strafe as ridiculously fast as in this game. The opposite is obviously good for someone who uses a mouse, like the OP.

Putting your left foot in and taking your left foot out is just going backwards in gaming development. If you want high strafe speeds, play a scout. (well, in a perfect world where CCP didn't **** all over scouts, at least) |
