Through tons of testing and field experience I have concluded for 100% that shield regen delay DOES NOT start from the last bullet that hit you. Instead, it starts from the first bullet that hits you, and does not reset under further fire. This should be fixed.
Oh wait, CCP are Caldari loyalists, of course they won't fix and ignore this "bug". |

Solution to this and the Caldari Logi: Fused Flux grenades. Available for ISK and Grenadier V.

Isnt that how it works though, kinda like armour will repair itself inbetween taking hits except instead of repairing immediately you need to wait for your recharge to kick in? The first timer starts the moment you take damage so you need to wait 6 seconds or whatever till you can start recharging and the second longer timer kicks in when your shields are depleted. This is atleast my understanding i could be wrong. |

Why wouldn't it start to regen as soon as it takes damage?
Does total depletion also start after first bullet hits? That would be an issue. |

I really want this to get an attention from the GMs or devs. I have a help ticket in for an explanation of either how it should work, or how they understand it as working right now.
If any and all depletion does not set and/or reset the depletion timer. This is a huge advantage that shields have. It means that the depletion delay is only relevant in alpha damage.
Technically, this could be 'gamed' in planetary conquest matches where players can take friendly fire, by getting grazed from melees or a single AR bullet before taking other possible damage.
If it is as Kitten says, having 99% shields is better than having 100%. |

and if true, it would be a huge advantage for Shields in the Shields vs. Armor debate.

False many logi's depleted shield delay are lower than 10 seconds....most/all are lower than the depleted shield delays of their assault counterparts...riddle me than |

I can confirm this bug. I just came back from a dust break for some fun and just realized that my amarr suit recharges shields while getting hit from weapons... I thought "cool" at first first but then my fun was spoiled because all the "pros" run in caldari suits having an unfair advantage when their 500 shield hp recharges during a firefight. |

As far as I know this is how shield delays work:
You get hit, and from the first bullet, the shield delay timer starts - say 6 seconds on a Cal Logi/Assault with no regulators. If you get hit before those 6 seconds are up, your shield recharge will still start at the 6th second, but it will be reset again if you get hit after the 6th second. Therefore, under constant fire, a shield tank will get a recharge "pulse" equal to their shield regeneration rate every 6 seconds, due to the recharge activating and the subsequent shield delay timer resetting again.
If shields are completely depleted, then the time to start recharging is equal to the sum of the shield delay and the depleted shield delay (6 + 8 = 14 seconds). If your shield just begins to charge and you are shot twice, depleting the shield and eating into armor, then I assume this longer delay will also apply, but I haven't tested this extensively.
TL;DR - you need to do as much damage in as little time as possible to overcome shield tankers - either via flux, scrambler, AR, whatever. Medium/long range exchanges of fire will not benefit you. |
