It seems like more and more children are flocking to Dust 514 aged 13 and under. I do know that Dust 514 is rated mature. My only small concern is that the in-game text and even the mic does not filter the profanity like the forum here. I personally don't think children should play FPS games at all, especially Dust. It's just my thought. How do some of you feel about this? |

Why do we shelter children from dirty words in the first place?

Well, it's true that it is the parents' responsibility. But do half of the parents know what the children are playing nowadays? Some of the PS3 consoles are in their rooms and parents don't really pay attention to what they download. Usually buying games had to be approved from the parents so they see what's on the case. But since Dust 514 is free, it's easy to download. |

Yeah, it's often more like they're corrupting Dust than the other way around. Sad. And, they beat me like a rented mule at this game. |

True story, when I used to work at Funcoland this kid wanted to get a copy of Timekillers and I told him to ask permission from his parent or guardian. He left, came back with his mom who began yelling at me because I wouldn't sell her kid a video game. A few days later, she returned it wondering why someone would make such a violent video game for kids. |

I can understand that voice communication is inevitable, but CCP can still improve it a bit to filter out some of the contents for the kids such as language and blood. Such as age filtering for matchmaking to group them together so some of the adults don't stuff ideas in some of the younger ones. Just my thought. I wouldn't want kids to treat Dust 514 like a playground since more are coming out of COD. I would rather give my kids squirting water toy guns than have them exposed to online games until they're old enough. |

Firstly DUST is rated Teen.
As for your question, you should really ask some of the kids in Somalia, or the DR of Congo, or Afghanistan, or anyother dirt poor part of the world where children carry around guns and aren't afraid to use them on real people. I bet they play too many video games. (Obvious Sarcasm)
It's all about conciousness, awareness, and education.

The game has an age restriction mechanic already, and it's sort of bizarre how far it goes. Actually, that may be an overstatement considering the racist, misogynist , and explicit names and language that permeates corp names, players names, and so on.
Allow me to remind you (courtesy of Wang):

I'm glad they did this, but I think they need to do a little more better to enforce it rather than an "how old are you?" box. |
